Oblivion
Meg felt a cool breeze caress her face but this time it wasn’t with snow. The air felt warm and in the air she could smell cherry blossoms. Meg brought down her arm and opened her eyes only to see a deserted park with a pond in the middle of it. Around the pond was one of every type of tree she knew and some that she didn’t. On the pond swimming were 2 white swans swimming gracefully. The grass seemed like it was the greenest she has ever seen as well. She took in the sight of a Weeping Willow that loomed over the one side of the pond. “How beautiful” she muttered for herself.
Meg stiffened when she felt a hand upon her shoulder. “It’s a lovely scene isn’t it?” a deep voice said behind her. Without even turning around she knew it was the man she had meet before in that odd room in the even odder house. She relaxed a bit without knowing why and nodded to his question. It was a beautiful sight. Probably one of the most she had ever seen. “I thought you would like it. You know I was the one that brought you to this spot” he said. She turned and looked into his blue eyes that mesmerized her. “How did you bring me here?” she asked in a gentle voice. “I have my ways” he said as he walked over to the pond. He voice was merry and he had the tone as if he was joking. Meg nodded even though he couldn’t see because his back was to her.
“I never did get you name. May I have it now?” she asked while crossing her arms. He smirked and turned back around towards her. He crossed the few feet that was between them and looked down at her. “My name is Alexander, I am the Lord of this land” he said She gazed wide eyes at him. This was the man that the old woman was talking about or is there more than one lord of this land? Surly there had to be more than one but then again he could be the only one and he might be able to help her get home. Home, when did she start calling it her home? “I’m sure everyone is worried about me” she mumbled to herself. “What is on your mind?” he asked, snapping her out of her own thoughts. She brought her head up, looked into his eyes and suddenly all of her thoughts about going home and to the family was gone.
A gentle breeze whispered through the air and started dancing in her hair as the sun’s rays pounded down onto her skin. She slowly walked over to the willow tree and sat down, leaning her back against the trunk of the giant tree. She brought her hand up to shield her face from the sun when, as if reading her mind, the willow tree moved it’s branches in front of her to block out the rays itself. “What is the name of this place? The old woman that I met before told me you knew” Meg asked. “Well it’s a very long story” Alexander said back to her. He started walking towards where she was sitting when she replied back “Please tell me. I love stories.”
He finished walking over to her and sat down. “It’s a very long story. Are you sure you wish to hear it?” Meg looked over at him and smiled. A real smile for the first time in a long tike to anyone besides Brock but he was the farthest from her mind right now. She noticed Alexander was wearing a pair of off-white slacks and a green shirt with a black mantel. He looked down at Meg and smiled, feeling as if he had known her for his whole life. Meg laughed a bit while saying “Well are you going to tell me the story or not?” Alexander nodded and began speaking.
“I named this place Oblivion because is has indeed be forgotten by the other people not born here” he sighed and looked out at the pond with the passing by swans. “Many, many years ago this land was ruled with sorcery and swords. People from the other world could her here with out any trouble. There were two people that ruled all of the land” he said as he looked into the distance. Meg spoke softly then “What happened to make this place forgotten then?” Alexander turned his gaze to her and continued “A powerful magician wanted the lands for himself and killed the man that ruled. The man was the king and was married to a woman. As the magician was killing the king, the queen stabbed him in the back; but before the magician died he cursed the land that anyone not born here would die that night and no one from the other world would be able to come back to this land again. That night like he vowed, everyone not born here died leaving the Queen alone. Two years of trying to find a way to undo the curse, the Queen fell ill and died; but what the evil man didn’t know was that the two lovers would be reborn into this world and would break the curse and undo what was done.” His gaze left hers as she asked “Have they been reborn yet?” He nodded and said “It takes 18 years to be reborn here. The king was reborn 18 years ago and” “And the Queen was reborn 16 years ago then. But if so, then where are they at?”
With that Alexander shrugged and said “I haven’t found her yet. Somehow she was born in the other world.” Meg looked out at the swans and began to close her eyes, wanting to drift into a deep sleep. “How did I manage to come here?” she asked. Alexander looked down at her and watched as her head dropped to his left shoulder. “I don’t know. The legend said that only the Queen would be able to get back here.” Meg nodded slowly. She heard his words but didn’t understand them; they were just a bunch of noises to her. She soon fell into a dreamless sleep. Alexander looked at her and kissed the top of her head and muttered something but it was lost to her.
