Chapter IV: The Fire Keeper
“Are you hungry little tawainai?”
Kin shook his head, and with his hand beckoned Kira to his side, as he walked back to the couch. So Kira followed, and sat with him on the couch
“Is everything alright Kin?” asked Kira as he wrapped an arm around Kin, who said nothing in reply.
Kin reached up and gave Kira a kiss on his cheek as he crawled into his lap, bestriding Kira as he kissed him again.
Kin whispered into Kira's ear, “So you really love me Kira?”
“Ye...Yeah, I do; I love you Kin. I can't explain it, I've never felt this way about anyone... Not since...”
“Not since?” whispered Kin, nibbling on Kira's ear lobe”
“N...nothing, don't worry about it.” replied Kira, somewhat stunned by Kin's sudden advance
Kira placed his hands against Kin's back underneath his shirt, passionately caressing his soft skin as he kissed him deeply; Kin, now with his arms gently wrapped around Kira's neck and quietly said, “Turiel used to tell me the same thing... but when you say it Kira, it isn't scary... it feels special, I never really understood the humans look on love before now...”
Kin gave Kira another kiss before getting off of him, and lying his head on the arm of the couch.
Kira stood up and walked over to the front window, and raised the blinds before turning towards Kin
“Damn, the weather has been horrible lately.”
“Yeah, it has.” replied Kin
Suddenly a bolt of lightning hit the ground right outside the window, and Kin saw the silhouette of a man outside
“K...Kira! Behind you!!” shouted Kin as he pointed to the window behind Kira.
Kira quickly turned around to face the window, but the silhouette was gone, and just then the back door slammed open. Kin buried himself in the blanket that was covering the couch, shuddering in fear, and Kira ran to the back door to investigate.
“What the hell? That door was locked!” exclaimed Kira
“...but maybe it was just the wind, the weather has been insane lately...”
As he turned around he closed the door slightly, pressing his back against it with a hand gripping the doorknob tightly, but as he opened his eyes following a drawn sigh, Turiel was standing before him.
“You!!” shouted Kira.
“Get out of my house!”
Turiel chuckled, and turned around; slowly he approached Kin and said
“Tsukikazu, it has been a while; hasn't it my dear?”
Kin; with eyes dilated in a combination of fear and shock, recognized the name, as it was very familiar to him.
Kira asked himself under his breath, “Tsukikazu..? Is that his real name? It's so beautiful...”
Kira walked up to Turiel again
“Are you deaf? I asked you to get out of my house!!”
Kira cringed his fist, raising it to Turiel, who turned to him and replied, through a chuckle
“Go ahead mortal; Strike me.”
Kira fiercely swung his fist, hitting Turiel directly on the jaw, but Turiel, unphased simply smiled, and placed his left hand against Kira's chest
“You lied to be boy, you told me you hadn't seen him. Am I mistaken?”
Kira gasped as a burst of energy sent him flying across the room, rendering him unconscious
“Kira!” Shouted Kin.
Turiel turned to him and laughed, and sarcastically said, “Did I hurt your friend? I'm 'so' sorry.”
“Come, it's time for us to return home. I've missed you 'oh' so much.”
Kin fearfully cried out, “Leave me alone! I don't want to go!”
“Why must you make this so difficult. Very well.” Turiel turned, raising his left hand in the direction of Kira, “Tsukikazu, either you come with me, or you're friend dies.”
Kin stood up and asked through tears, “W.. why do you keep calling me that? My name is Kin...”
Turiel rolled his eyes in annoyance, “You've been amongst mortals for far too long... or perhaps that nasty fall of yours cause you a bit of amnesia.” Regaining eye contact with Kin, he continued
“Now! Make your decision! Either you come with me peacefully, or he dies.”
Turiel glanced over Kira's unconscious body and said under his breath, “The latter would be such a waste of such beauty... I pray you come with me, I might just return for this one if he lives...”
Turiel chuckled.
Kin, disgusted with Turiel's insatiable lust pleaded with him.
“Please! Just leave Kira alone... I – I'll come... just please... leave him alone.”
Turiel slowly lowering his hand, chuckled, and said, “Aww... does the little Elohim have feelings for this one? How sickening, an angel in love with a human?”
Turiel looked at him slightly puzzled
“Since when have you cared so much about humans anyway? These fools have softened your hear, Tsukikazu; you used to be so... emotionless, like the rest of your accursed choir!”
Turiel sighed, rolled his eyes, and though reluctantly – continued, “Very well little one... I will not touch him. Let us take our leave.”
Turiel unlocked the door, and slowly walked backwards out into the rain as he looked over at Kin impatiently, “Well, are you coming?”
“Yes... I'll be right there...” said Kin.
Turiel rolled his eyes and proceeded to wait for him outside, chuckling once more, he said, “Hmm, those clothes look rather good on you, don't they?”
Kin ignored the comment, and slowly walked towards Kira's body, and whispered into his ear
“Please... please save me.” and kissed him softly.
Turiel looked at Kin jealously, and cringed “How disgusting. Come! Now! Before I 'do' kill him!”
Kin, avoiding eye contact with Turiel; walked out to him where he was waiting.
Turiel then put his arm around Kin, and they both vanished into the fog.
*~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*
Hours had passed before Kira regained consciousness, and sprang to his feet and shouted
“Kin!”
However as he looked around, he noticed Kin was nowhere in sight, though he heard a slight creaking sound, but it was nothing more than the back door swaying back and forth propelled by the wind.
“Kin...” he said under his breath as he fell to his knees, crying.
“I promised him... I promised him I would never let anyone take him away... and now, I've broken that promise.” He brought his hands to his face in shame, pausing for several minutes before rising to his feet shouting again
“Damn you Turiel! You will not keep him for long!”
and under his breath, “I will find a way to save you... even if it kills me.”
He stormed to the bedroom and grabbed his leather jacket, and quickly put it on while he ran to his car
he jumped in, and warmed up the engine
“I need to find this Armada, they are sure to know how to locate Turiel... but where will I start?” he held a knuckle to his head and thought about it for a few minutes, “Someone in town must know of them... Perhaps the library is a good place to start?”
He started down the road to town, but about halfway down, he saw a man about his age standing in the middle of the road, his first thought was to honk his horn, but then he noticed the man had a blindfold, and a walking stick,
“Is he blind?” Kira asked himself.
Kira jumped out of the vehicle and cautiously approached him
“Sir? What are you doing out here in the rain all alone?”
The man turned his head towards Kira and replied, “Searching...”
Kira looked at him confused, “Searching for what?”
The man put his hand down the front of his collar, and pulled out a strange amulet, it depicted a sword with four black wings extending from each side, “I am searching for him...” said the man
Something about the amulet triggered a subconscious memory in Kira. He pressed two fingers to his lips, and the words, “Please... please save me.” Echoed throughout his head.
“Kin!!” shouted Kira, as he ran back to his car.
By the time he got there, the man with the blindfold appeared in front of him, Kira startled, jumped back almost three feet
“Take me with you.”
A mix of confusion, and fear crossed Kira's face as he said, “F – fine, but we must hurry! Get in.”
The two men climbed up into the vehicle, and Kira continued down the road to town, at a dangerous speed.
Kira looked over at the man and said, “I'm Sato Kira. Do you have a name?”
The man turned to him, and said. “My name... Jinkage, Ito Jinkage”
after a long silence, the man continued
“You too are looking for something, I can feel it.”
Kira paused, and looked in Jinkage's direction, “Yeah... I'm looking for someone very special to me, or rather, the one who took that someone from my arms – a man named Turiel.”
Jinkage gasped, “Turiel... The Black Malakim... perhaps it was more than coincidence that we found each other. Why do you want to find this man?”
“As I was saying, he took someone very special to me, and I want that person back, no matter what it takes... How is it you know this man?”
Jinkage turned to Kira and said, “That man, he took my wife... my children... and my sight.”
Jinkage looked down at the amulet again, and said “If it had not been for the interception of a certain boy, he would have taken my life as well... and since that day I have sworn my life to the protection of that boy, Master Tsukikazu.”
Kira slammed his breaks and said, “That name...”
He turned to Jinkage with a most wrathful look, “So you... you are his guardian?! Well... YOU FAILED. Turiel knocked me unconscious and took him from me!”
Tears welled up from Kira's eyes, and he laid his head against the wheel, crying.
“So my senses did not fail me... When I saw you I sensed him, that is why I wished to come with you, but, I know you aren't him so I was confused. During some kind of close contact his essence must have rubbed off onto you...”
Jinkage looked at Kira and placed a hand on his shoulder, “...but you are right. It seems I have failed... so again, I am too late... perhaps I am not worthy to protect him.”
“Kira, I want to ask you something, were you in love with Master Tsukikazu?”
Kira looked up to him and replied, “Yes... and I am still in love with him... I always will be in love with Kin.”
Jinkage looked at Kira and said, “Kin?”
Kira replied, “Yes, Kin is the name I gave him when I found him, I guess he had forgotten his real name.” Kira looked up and said to himself aloud, “I will find Turiel and kill him with my very hands. I will have my Kin back!”
Jinkage smiled, firming his grasp on Kira's shoulder
“Perhaps you are his true guardian Kira, all Elohim must have a mortal guardian... and I feel that you are far more worthy than I.”
Jinkage held the amulet in his hand, and pressed a small button on the top, causing the amulet to fall into two symmetrical pieces, revealing a second chain within a hidden compartment on the first half,
Jinkage fastened the second piece securely onto the second chain, and handed it to Kira, who, though a little shocked at the whole thing, immediately placed it around his neck.
Jinkage looked at Kira and said, “I will help you save Kin, I swear it!”
