Stripedseth's crossing
'We didn't speak of the wildseth's after that as if it were tabu.
"Tep where are we going?" Wennet asked.
"That river over there." He snorted. "I'm sure that one is real, I can smell mildew and fur."
We came upon a strange herd, seths with stripes and they had larger muscular bodies.
They were gathering on the bank looking into the water intensly. The largest of them aproached
us reluctantly at first. He spoke in strange tongues. I being the smartest atempted to talk to
him. He seemed worried and trying to tell us something. I looked at the river myself but Geb
saw made them scarred of the river.
"Naz, it's sobek, alot of them." Geb backed up into Tep.
"why don't they just find another way." Tep snorted.
"The river may be shallowest here." Said Molasses.
"Why cross at all?" Red brayed.
"Maybe there's food somewhere on the otherside." Wennet answered.
"It's a great grazer." Syrus spoke as if waking from a trance.
"I am Gahie." Said the stripedseth's leader. I was understanding him little by
little. "Follow, more is safer, small beasts never make crossing alone, makes
herd more big." He tried to communicate the best he could but only I understood his
intentions. I admit he was a clever beast. Molasses walked alongside of the striped mares.
She was almost as tall as them but the rest of us, especaily my son who's hooves couldn't
reach the bottom of the bank once in the water.
"Mom this is hard!" Sirus struggled to keep his head above the water. The one called Gahie
bit the back of Syrus's neck and held him above the water. He was so big his hooves touched the
bottom of the river when his shoulders never sank. Geb and Wennet still side by side kept each
other going while hiding behind the striped stallions. We heard the faint screams of a dying
striped seth and the snapping jaws of the sobek towards the edge of the formation. Gahie got
my son to the bank before the rest of us reached it. Myself, Wennet, and Geb made it next,
followed by Molasses and Red, Tep was last, he was helping the old couple keep up. Once we all
gathered back together Gahie stood at the bank for a moment and walked back into the river
for the rest of his herd. we admired his bravery, even with dangerous sobek afloat, he was
more concerned about his herd. Gahie invited us to spend the night with his herd. We were wet,
cold, and scarred. It was a new strange contry.
"Where is the baby horus?" I asked Tep.
"Molasses had it in her mouth during the crossing, she still has it." Tep answered.
"She's nursing it right now." Wennet added.
"Does it have a name?" I wondered.
"Syrus called it 'Labbu'." Geb spoke up.
"We have a long day tommarow, Gahie's herd accepted us." Red told us. "They are no longer
giving us untrusting looks." I hadn't seen it but Red did.
"That's because they're all alseep dad." Tep said.
"You are such an ass."
