The Moonshine Run Revelation

James and Roger had left for the time being. Rachel picked up two quarts of moonshine. She got into her car. Led Zeppelin's "D'yer Mak'er" played on the radio. Rachel smiled softly. She thought about how Renee and she would dance around the living room. She felt guilty about saying what she said to Renee. Rachel didn't want Renee to end up getting hurt. She had seen many moonshine runners get put in jail, injured or killed while running moonshine. She would never be able to forgive herself if something happened to Renee. Ten minutes later found her in front of Old Lady Eisen's house. Mrs. Eisen wasn’t really that old in Rachel's book. Mrs. Eisen was in her mid-sixties and acted like a thirty year old. Rachel picked up the jars of moonshine. She knocked on the door. A short, thin woman with wild strawberry blond hair answered the door. "Look at you! Get your skinny ass in here!" Mrs. Eisen laughed. "How are you doing, sweetness?" Mrs. Eisen asked. "Good. How 'bout you?" Rachel said. "Good. How's that little sister of yours?" Mrs. Eisen asked. "She's pouting." Rachel followed Mrs. Eisen into the kitchen and placed two quarts of moonshine on the counter. "Poutin'? What for?" Mrs. Eisen asked. "I won't let her run 'shine with me, Jam and RoRo." Rachel said. "I'm glad you told her 'no'. She's too young." Mrs. Eisen handed Rachel a cup of tea. "Thank you." Rachel said. "You know, speaking' of James and Roger, you're lucky when it comes down to those two." Mrs. Eisen said. "How do you figure?" Rachel asked sipping at her tea. "I've made God knows how many passes at them in two years but they have eyes only for you." Mrs. Eisen said with a smile. Rachel just chuckled softly. "It's bothering you about Renee, isn't it?" Mrs. Eisen asked. "Yeah. This is the first time we've ever fought about her getting into the moonshine business." Rachel told her. "Well, I think you should apologize to her for the argument but don't back down about not letting her run 'shine. You of all people should know that running' 'shine isn't safe." Mrs. Eisen said. Rachel let the words of advice sink in as she finished her tea. She got up and put her empty cup in the sink. "Thanks for the advice and tea." Rachel hugged Mrs. Eisen. "Anytime, sweetness. Just promise me you'll take care of Renee, James and Roger." Mrs. Eisen said. On the drive home, Rachel let everything that Mrs. Eisen had said sink in. It made perfect sense. Mrs. Eisen always gave Rachel good advice.
