4 - Two new friends
Chapter 4
Lunch break was already over and there were none outside of the school. My tummy made noises because I was hungry. "You didnt even get time to eat your lunch." He said. "No... Its not like Kim would care about that." He sat down on a bench, signaling for me to sit down too. "Here!" He got something out from his jacket and handed it over to me. "My lunch pack! Where.. how..." He just smiled at me. "Heh.. thank you... But I think I better get back to class, or theyll suspend me or something..." He looked disappointed. "Sure, if you are afraid of what they might do." He leaned back on the bench and looked up at the sky. "Dont you have classes?", I asked. "Me? Classes? Nya... I guess." I looked up at the sky as well, nice and blue with some big clouds here and there. I didnt want to go back into the building, I didnt want to go back to Kim at all. "You know they wont get of your back? So whats your plan? You just gonna let them do what they want to?" I opened up my lunch pack and started eating. "Well... I dont know yet. If it was Kim alone, there would be no problem." He smiled at me, "I noticed. You would kick his ass... Hehe, even while hes down. Dont you have morals, girl?" "I do! I have morals. But its his game, his rules, and his rules are without morals, so..." I watched him. His hair was long, down his back, but compared to mine, it was nothing. He wore black, black jeans, black shirt and black jacket. Black hair, but tanned skin. Darker than mine, but I got so easily sunburned, so I stayed out of the sun while on holidays or hot summer days. "Who are you?", I asked. "Darien. And you?" "Helle." "Nice name." "Darien... why not the ordinary Damien?" "I guess my father wanted to make a little twist. What’s your excuse?" "It means 'good fortune'." He started laughing. "Nice." I finished up my lunch, sighted and got up from the bench. "I should get inside. The longer I stay out here, the worse the punishment. They’re quite strict at that." He saw the concern written on my face, it was not the punishment that troubled me the most, is was the fact that Kim surely wouldn’t leave me alone, and even being in his class was uncomfortable. Hell, being in the same school was uncomfortable.
He looked me in the eyes and then he said "You know what? Don’t worry about that Kim and his gang. They will not be bothering you any longer, I’ll make sure." "...what..?" "Hmm, I was thinking it would be best for you to settle this yourself, wouldn’t want you to be dependent on me, but I guess it wouldn’t hurt fixing this small problem for you." "Well... Thanks, I guess.... Just, I wouldn’t want them dead or anything." At this he made an evil looking grin, but then quickly took it back, and nonchalantly remarked, "Okay, I wont kill them." "Well, bye then!" "See you around!" And then he just leaned back on the bench again, like if he was going to take a nap. 'No wonder he flunked so many times...'
I did get punished, I had to stay at school an extra 2 hours. Asami had to walk home alone, and I was sure I would get more punishment when I got home. I didnt want to tell them about Kim, I didnt like to share my problems with anyone, besides, Darien had already assured me that they wouldnt be a problem any longer. When I got out of school it was already evening, the sun was down and darkness was soon following. I tried to hurry home. Again I had this strange feeling of being watched. Maybe it was this feeling that made me hurry even more to get home. I wondered for a second if it could be Kim and the gang again, then decided not to think about it, just get home.
Darien kept his promise. The next day Kim didnt even look in my direction, and the whole day passed without any troubles. I dont know what he did, but it worked, and I was satisfied with that. I looked for Darien during lunch break, but didnt see him anywhere. Unhappy I had to return to the classroom after eating all on my own. Later that day I walked off again, I wanted to see that church I had seen only the spears of a couple of days ago. The sun would set in only an hour, so I hurried there. The park was beautiful, even though summer hadnt kicked in yet, there were greens all over the place. And lamp posts along the pathways. I came to an opening in the middle of the park, there stood the most beautiful building I had ever seen. It was a huge cathedral, gothic style, with thousands of windows, all glowing from a soft yellow light inside. I walked around it and found the entrance, it was open, so I went inside. It was just as I could have imagined, beautifully decorated, with huge rooms and high, very high ceiling. I looked up at it and saw the candelabras that were burning, giving the soft yellow light that gave all the walls a comforting soft tune. I danced my way around the cathedral, blinded by the beauty of everything. Not noticing where I was going I suddenly bumped into someone and let out a small "Eek!" of surprise. I had thought I was alone.
"Oh, hey, careful now." It was a guy, and he was so perfect! He fitted into his surroundings like he was made for this cathedral, or as if the cathedral was made for him. I just looked at him, then realizing I was drooling all over the guy and straightened up. "Oh, Im sorry about that, I didnt pay any attention to here I was going." He just smiled at me, "Its okey, I guess in these surroundings its easy to forget where you are." I smiled back. He was taller then me, with lovely blonde hair that curled slightly, about shoulder length. And those eyes! I couldnt decide what color they were. He was really nice build too. "Its your first time here?", he asked, "I havent seen you before?" "Well, we just moved here." "Ah, for the advent perhaps?" "Advent?" He laughed slightly, "Heh, you dont know about the advent? Come here!" He then took my hand in his and guided me to a different part of the cathedral. His hand felt so nice hand worm, but I was uneasy about holding it, I had never held anyones hand before, only my mother and father, and certainly not a good looking guy like this had ever held hands with me! Just like if he could hear my thoughts he turned and smiled, "Dont worry, its okey." And somehow his words made me relax, I was sure I would do anything this guy asked me too.
