Chapter Two Part Two: Learning The Truth

Three Weeks Later...

I went into the kitchen when I heard screaming and crashing of things coming from Marge and Joseph's bedroom.

"I can't believe you've gone back to doing that! You promised me 17 years ago that it would stop!"

"I swear I haven't..."

CRASH!!!

"Don't you dare lie to me, Joseph Philip Arzola!!! This was exactly the reason why Christoffer became silent and the friendship of my son and Ashley faltered....I WANT A DIVORCE!!!"

"A divorce?! You can't divorce me, you psychotic bitch!"

CRASH!!! BOOM!!! THUNK!!!!

"FUCK!!! Ok, I'll sign the damn papers!"

The house lapsed into silence as Christoffer retreated into the kitchen with me. It wasn't long before Joseph walked menacingly towards Christoffer. Christoffer cringed.

"YOU RUINED MY MARRIAGE ALL BECAUSE YOU COULDN'T KEEP YOUR GODDAMN MOUTH SHUT, YOU LITTLE BASTARD!!!"

He lunged at Christoffer but was stopped dead in his tracks by me dropkicking him. He fell to the ground with a thump.

I decided to do my Muerte del Negro* energy spell to keep him away from Chris, Marge, and I. I focused and created a black ball of energy and started the spell.

"Hatred of me
Fear of you
I will make you see
Evil done unto him
Will be done to you on my whim
You will not fell the light of day
Until I set you free, only by my say!
Narcon!
So mote it be!"

I threw the ball of energy at his father and it sunk into his head. I turned to see Christoffer shaking.

"Christoffer, I--"

He just hugged me.

"You protected me and my mom, Ash; you did nothing wrong by us..."

We moved into the living room so that Marge, who saw everything, could let the police in to arrest Joseph.

Joseph started freaking out.

"The Shadows! They're after me! Save me! Save me!!!"

They had to drag him away using the ambulance. The last thing I heard as they were going away was that they were taking him to the St. Narcissi Institute of Mental Illnesses.

We all hugged each other, willing the inner demons to be banished from our hearts.

The next morning was Thanksgiving. Marge was busy in the kitchen and the living room getting everything prepared. Christoffer and I, on the other hand, were told to veg out and we played rock music from our On Demand service.

We were watching "Blue Orchid" by The White Stripes when the doorbell sounded.

"I wonder who that could be...it's a little early for guests to arrive..."

I went to open the door and was surprised and angered that it was my cousin Richard.

"What do you want, Richard?!"

He flinched and then stuttered.

"F-for y-you t-to c-come h-home..."

I looked at him incredulously.

He must've lost what little mind he had left...I thought.

"No way in the seven hells am I going back with you..."

I turned to close the door when he grabbed my hand and proceeded to dragging me away.

"Let go of me, you asshole! Christoffer, help!"

He ran to my side and punched Richard in the face. My hand was let go of and we slammed the door in his face.

The next day, we went to the Avon Police Department and recieved a restraining order on any and all family members of mine.

This way, we won't have that type of incident again...I mused.

We drove home a little bit better for wear and came home to having a quiet meal of leftovers from Thanksgiving.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That night, as I lay in my bed, Christoffer was having a nightmare while at his post: the chair next to my bed. I shook my head, got up, dragged him to my bed, laid him down, and rubbed his back soothingly. The whimpering stopped and a peaceful smile graced his features.

He fell into a peaceful sleep, murmured my name, and all became quiet again.
