Case two: Shadow of fear. part one

The morning is the perfect time to do all the necessary work without wondering if a certain someone was working or just was messing around on that infuriating machine of his or just plain slacking off.

The Rochelle runt has no place in this business. Sure, he had a brilliant mind and has great skill for solving the most impossible of puzzles. But he was too soft. He didn’t have the heart for this business.

That was the main problem. Sasha has too much heart. He returned two/thirds of the money from the vampire job. Claiming that he didn’t killed the vampire or getting his teeth as requested and it would be just so wrong to accept all the money when he just put together a profile for the damn thing.

Andrew had that same problem but under Sang Ki’s teaching, he became the new face of the infamous Rochelles of Lex Domingo at the age of 17. But he doubted that his youngest son would blossom under the same situation.

Speaking of which. He needed to start the coffee maker. The runt would be waking up soon. The boy would be more useful alert then sluggish and zombie-like. Last time, that nobody had given the blue eyed man any caffeinated or sugar-filled drinks and/or food. He ran into the same door five times until the water sprite got bored and opened the door for his boss.

So starting the coffee maker now would be a good thing.

He went back to sorting the paper files into their respectable piles to be transferred into the computer and then onto a series of disks and backup disks. A new secretary should be coming this morning. Sang Ki would leave the file transferring to the woman.

There was knocking on the front door. Speak of the devil, that should be Miss Terra Reeve right now.

But when he opened the door, it was just a certain cherry-haired vampire leaning against the doorframe with at first a leering smirk then it was change to a frown of disappointment.

“Sasha’s still asleep but he should be waking up in about-” He looked at the old school-issued clock on the wall behind him, “fifteen minutes. You could wait for him here.” The blue-haired demon pointed at the faux brown leather couch that lined against the wall next to the detective’s office door.

Cole staggered in, pulling off the borrowed long black trench coat as he did.

“I’m amaze that you’re letting me in like this. Shouldn’t you be a good little demon-slave and defend your master’s virtue.” He raised a dark red eyebrow at the little cross-dresser who decided to wear a simple jeans with black rhinestones sprinkling the right leg and dark green sleeveless turtle-neck. A emerald arm-band decorated his yellow tan biceps.

Sang Ki closed the door just as a young man with wild short auburn hair and bronze skin was walking up to the door.

He sighed. “ Entrainment is so lacking these days.” He brushed away a few stray sapphire strands from his opal eyes. “ It was either this or telling the neighbor’s kids that the monster under his bed was back and he has to wear a clown one-piece suit with bright rainbow wig in order to get rid of it.”

“You’re a weird little demon, you know that?” Cole couldn’t do more then blink at the help that his little mouse has working for him.

Sang Ki just shrugged his shoulders and was about to say more on the subject when there another round of knocking on the door behind the two demons. This time, the door revealed a young man in raggy, tattered jeans and black and white striped shirt with red long sleeves that gave the impression that it was two different shirts.

“Business hours doesn’t start for another hour, come back later when-” he was cut off when the young bronze man spoke up.

“I’m Reeve Terra. we spoke over the phone.” When it only receive was a blank stare with a raised blue eyebrow., he just gave an annoyed sigh. “I’m your new secretary?”

“Aren’t secretaries chicks with bouncy tits and wear tight skirt suits?” The vampire asked somewhere in the background.

“You said someone with computer skills with good people skills. You didn’t say you wanted a girl.” Reeve was more then ticked off by that ‘chick’ comment.

“Oh, yes. Please come in.” Sang Ki recovered and gave the clueless amber-eyed man a ‘Sit down and be quiet’ glare which was quickly obeyed.
He walked the young man to what would be his desk and computer and began going over the rules and procedures of the office.

That included the rule of never bringing up Mister Rochelle’s eye or family pictures. When Cole, who was overhearing this crash-course of Office Etiquette, asked why, Sang Ki just gave a “Just don’t” and left it at that.

In a little over thirty minutes, there was a sound of someone falling down a set of stairs and a very pained ‘Ow’ which startled the newest editions to the detective agency. But Sang Ki just used that as a sign to pour some dark brown liquid into a large metallic orange travel mug and added in about half a cup of sugar and cream and stirred it all together till the coffee was now a creamy tan color.

Then something very cute and very cheek-blushing happen, Sasha walked in. He wore a black knitted loose net shirt with a black tank top underneath with his hair still in bed-head mode and everything from half-lidded eyes to scuffling bare feet still heavy with sleep, looking much like a toddler that was forced out of a nap. What was messing was a cotton -soft baby blanket trailing behind.

What was causing one man to blush and another to lick his lips in hunger was the fact, the black, white and grey camouflage baggy pants were still unzipped and unbutton and showing off pale hips bones and a line of dewy soft grey hair peeking above red boxers.

See what Sang Ki mean about Rochelle being useless in the morning?

“Who’s that?” The unsuspecting Rochelle spoke as he sleepily rubbed his working eye with the tips of his fingers, pressing the black framed glasses up against his forehead.

“This is Reeve Terra, the new secretary.” The water sprite answered as he placed the mug in his boss’s hand and zipped up the man’s pants, thus ending a certain vampire’s enjoyment.

“Eh?” Sang Ki didn’t replied back and just pushed the living zombie into the office to allow him time to fully wake up and join up with the rest of the world.

When he faced the other people in the room, he cleared his throat which broke the bronze man’s blushing spell and he went back to typing but didn’t end Cole’s parade of thoughts.

He really liked it when he was the only one in the office in the morning. He didn’t have to deal with people all that much.
