“You bought the entire store out.” Markus sat with his sister that next morning. She had clothes, diapers and toys all on the floor, in bags. “Don’t you think you bought too much?”

“No such thing as too much when babies are concerned.” Patty chuckled. “Besides, dad and mom gave me money to spend this morning as well. They said buy him cute clothes and toys. And it’s not like you won’t need them. You will.”

“I know but..there is like twelve bags here.” Markus had to smile though. “Plus with the suff you got last night, I’ll need a cargo plane to get his things home.”

“We’re home.” Melissa came in. She had Mikyle in her arms. “We bought him a suitcase so he can pack all of his cute little clothes and toys up.”

“And you thought I was being bad,” Patty snickered.

“Hi! I gots toy.” Mikyle hugged a stuffed Whale.

“Here it is.” Mr. Andrews set the Shamu kids suit case down. “This is the small one. It was a matching set. He picked this one out and your mother just had to get the matching luggage.”

“That’s where he got the stuffed Shamu whale.” Melissa set him down. “Go show daddy.”

“Way cute.” Patty grinned. “Aww.”

She smiled At Mikyle hugging Markus. He was making growling sounds and pretending to eat his daddy’s arm with the whale. Markus pretended to fall over for him.

“He’s eating me.” Markus closed his eyes. “Oh no.”

“Daddy!” Mikyle gasped.

“Rawr.” Markus pulled him down into a tickle hug. “Daddy tricked you.”

“That looks so natural on you.” Patty set one of the suitcases down. “You are going to be a cool daddy.”

“I agree.” Mr. Andrews wheeled the larger travel case in. It was the size of an adults main suitcase. “That’s everything.”

“We bought him just a few more clothes. Your father stopped by that outlet mall and I found some way cute things.” Mrs. Andrews chuckled. “Now, if you will excuse me, I need to fix lunch.”

“You guys didn’t have to do this.” Markus sat up. “But thank you. I know Mikyle likes it.”

“Rawr!” Mikyle chased his grandma into the kitchen. “Mus hugry. Roars..wants lunch too.”

“So..why Shamu?” Patty had to ask.

“He saw the Sea world sign and went crazy.” Jake, her father, answered. “They showed the new show with Shamu and all. So Your grandmother made the mistake of taking him into the store. Clothes..Luggage, toys..everything.”

“Wow..So he likes Shamu, huh?” Markus nodded. “ I’ll have to take him to Sea world before we leave.”

“I’m going! I love Sea world.” Patty gasped. “Aww!! It’s a PJ set. And look..it has whale flipper footsie feet and a fin on the back of the shirt. This is adorable.”

“Your mom..again.” Mr. Andrews walked past them to his chair “All of it has dolphins, Shamu or sharks on it.”

“I think my little boy is going to be spoiled.” Markus chuckled.

“Going to be? He already is.” Patty quipped playfully.

Police station

“Keith.” Mary knocked on the office door. “The permission papers are here.”

“Come in.” Keith was busy at his computer. “Is the Arrest warrant ready? We have reports of Mrs. Janson circling the Andrew’s road. Our officers haven’t moved in yet but they are waiting for the go ahead.”

“Oh no..did she follow them?” Mary placed a warrant on the desk top. “There it is.”

“According to the officers, she saw their car in the drive and started circling. Luckily all the Andrews are in the house that we know of.” Keith picked the CB radio up. “Go ahead Adam 111.Warrant is in hand..add stalking to the list of charges against her.”

“This is Adam 111. We copy.” The radio clicked to silent again.

“That woman is a mad woman, I swear. What does she think stalking them is going to gain?” Mary growled. “People like her make this world a sad place to live.”

“Yeah but how much do you want to bet that her defense attorney, when she calls one, will go for temporary insanity? The death of her daughter and loss of her grandchild all in one day..causing her brain to snap..when it was already snapped in two from before.” Keith shook his head. “I have some important case information already. I contacted the car garage that fixed up the vehicles. They said those breaks..the ones she blames wouldn’t stop...were just fine. They looked up old repair records.”

“Really?” Mary pulled a chair up. “So she lied..and no one bothered to follow up at the garage?”

“Apparently. They kept the records just in case. Any time a murder or accident is involved, they go to permanent files.” Keith clicked a few keys on his computer. “They said the only thing wrong with the breaks was that the paint, on the discs, were an ugly color. So I asked if there was any way those breaks could have gone out..and they said no.”

“So that’s one thing against her already. Is the repair shop ready to testify that?”

“Yes. They are preparing a written statement of their repair report for me as we speak.” Keith smiled. “We are going to get this one. We are going to keep a family safe.”

“Any other breaking Evidence?” Mary peeked at the files. “Oh...my.”

“I thought you’d like to see that. That is Vicky lamar. Her maiden name. She was just fifteen when she was admitted to the county hospital for self mutilation and cutting. Plus..something that no one else bothered to look up..her juvenile record. She went to Juvenile hall for killing her father. The woman is a man hater. Which means Little Mikyle was in more danger than we thought.”

“We have got to get her behind bars..soon.” Mary looked appalled. “Let me see that.” She turned the screen to face her. “My gods..she cut off his..genitalis? How could they release her?”

“It was Juvenile hall and..apparently, according to the doctors statements..” He pulled them up, showing her the notes, “She was acting cured.” Keith sighed. “This woman is certifiable.”

“Are we sure that she hadn’t hurt Mikyle Janson?”

“Nothing wrong with him. Her daughter kept him safe and always took him to the doctors for his check ups. My guess was that she was actually smart enough to know signs of abuse would be seen. Then..when her daughter was killed, she snapped back into this crazy persona. I thank gods for little miracles like Markus showing up to visit when he did. The fates played a good hand on that call.”

“Home base..this is Adam 111.” The radio buzzed.

“This is Keith. Come back.” He adjusted the radio. “ Do you have the suspect in hand?”

“Yes sir. We are bringing her in now. Her car is being towed to the impound lot..but I think you ought to have it searched. We found a loaded shot gun under the passenger’s seat already. There is no telling what else is in there.” They answered.

“My gods..she was going to kill them?” Keith looked between the CB Mike and Mary. “Is the Family okay?”

“We sent another black and white to check on them. We wanted to get the suspect in custody as soon as possible, sir.”

“Good job. Which Black and white did you send?” Keith asked.

“Charlie 103.” They came back.

“Good. Get her here.” Keith looked at Mary. “Weapons charge added to our list.”

“I hope that family is okay.” Mary looked genuinely concerned.

“Charlie 103, answer if your in ear shot.” Keith decided he had better call. “You there?”

“This is Charlie 103. We are just coming around to the road sir. Everything looks fine so far. Although we haven’t gotten out to go talk to them.”

“Don’t tell them why you’re checking. Do a random check. Tell them that there was a call reported in the area about thieves.” Kieth didn’t want to cause undo stress to the whole family. If he could make it happen, he wanted to leave them out so they could get on with their lives. “Do you copy?”

“We copy.” The radio clicked silent.

“Good thinking.” Mary stood. “I am going to look these up on my pc. Can I get into your files?”

“Yeah.” Keith nodded. “Look up what ever you need. And we need to be sure and tell the human services lady about this. There is no way this woman is going to get that baby boy now.”

“I will add it to my report. I haven’t finished it yet so I can just add a few more pages.” Mary waved. “Let me know what else comes in.”

“I will.”

Keith went back to work on his computer. This was turning into a huge case. He had to wonder why it all got silenced before. There had to be a reason for it. There was no way to miss this woman’s record. So why did she get off like she did?

“Hello?” Patty looked at the two officers. “Is..something wrong?”

“Hello ma’am. I’m officer Sanchez and this is Officer Clark. We were just running a neighborhood check. There have been reports of thieves in the area.”

“Oh, we’re all fine here.” She turned. “Mom..dad?”

“What is it?” Jake came up. “Something wrong?”

“They said thieves have been reported in area. I thought..since you and mom were out, you could tell them if you saw anything.”

“Ah..okay.” Jake smiled.

“Just a random check sir.” Sanchez nodded to Clark. “So everyone is fine? No attacks..they were said to have bats as weapons.”

“We’re all fine.” Jake patted Patty’s shoulder. “Everyone is inside and eating lunch at the moment.”

“Alright..well, be sure and call the police if you see anything.” Sanchez turned. “And sorry to have bothered you.”

“No, it’s okay.” Patty hmd. “We’re glad you guys are looking out for us. Oh..and the neighbors aren’t home. They are on vacation. Might want to check their house.”

“We will do that.” He opened the car door. “Thanks again.” Sanchez took one last glance before getting in. “Clark...lets go a quick run of the houses to act like were checking..”

“Alright.” Clark started the car. “Smart girl. I think she suspects other reasons.”

“Could be..but better to be safe than sorry.” Sanchez shrugged. “Gotta call in.”

And inside the house, Patty watched the car from the window.

“Honey...they are just checking houses.” Jack pulled her away. “Don’t worry about it.”

“Dad..I don’t know. Something smells fishy.” Patty sighed. “I just..keep thinking back to Mrs. Janson. She glared at me and Markus..it was down right evil.”

“Well, don’t worry, sweety. What ever the reason is, they have them and I am sure that it is a good one. Now, lets go finish lunch before it gets cold.”

“Sorry for worrying, dad.” Patty sighed.

“No...don’t be sorry..just don’t fret over it too much.” He kissed her cheek. “Come on.”

“What’s going on, guys?” Markus came out, carrying Mikyle. “Something up?”

“Cops came by to check on the area. Thieves have been reported and ...will you look at that messy little boy.” Mr. Andrews laughed.

“Yeah...he decided to eat the mashed potatoes with his hands. And then rub his hair and eyes and touch everything he could after that.” Markus grinned and kissed his cheek. “But he tastes all buttery like mom’s potatoes now.”

“Oh..lets eat him up.” Patty playfully said.

“No! Dun eats mes!” Mikykle tried to hide by laying against his dad’s shoulder. “Grr..My Mus eat you back!”

“Ahh..thanks sis.” Markus looked at his potatoe covered shirt. “Oh well.” He walked to the bathroom. “Gotta clean him up.”

“Silly.” Patty laughed. “Ill put a clean set of clothes out on your bed for you.”

“Thanks.” Markus called.

“Wears Mus!” Mikyle ran out, half naked. “Wans mus.”

“Come back here you.” Markus grabbed him up. “You’re in nothing but a diaper. You can’t go out there like that.”

“Alright, I’ll put some shamu stuff out.” Patty grinned. “Excuse me dad.”

“Of course.” Jack chuckled, walking into the kitchen.

“So we have thieves in the area?” Melissa refreshed his drink for him. “That is terrible.”

“Patty seems to think there is something more.” He sat down, thinking. “She said something about Melissa Janson looking at them in a very hateful way.”

“That woman is hateful.” Melissa nibbled a piece of bread as she spoke. “I never saw her with that little boy but I did see her out in the stores and all. She would glare at someone for coughing.”

“Just for coughing?”

“You should have heard her this one time. The woman was tending to her daughter, who was coughing. She yelled and screamed at the woman to shut her kid up. Oh and she told the woman she had to replace her groceries because the kids germs got all over her food.” Melissa nodded. “I was in the next check out over. I couldn’t believe it.”

“I think we all need to watch our selves around this woman then.” Jack looked up. “Because I do not want to see any of my family hurt because of her.”

“Oh, I agree. That’s why I was always watching out the window when we were out this morning. That woman just seems the type to be vengeful.”

“Mother.” Markus came in. “Can you go watch Mikyle for a minute. I have a very important call to take.”

“Alright dear.” Melissa chuckled. “And change shirts. Yours is soaked and..covered in Mashed potatoes.”

“I will.” He walked off with cell phone to ear. “Sorry..what were you saying now.” He closed his room door as soon as he entered. “She did what?”

The expression on his face went from intent to disbelief. Markus nodded. “Hold on. I need to put my ear piece in.” He set the phone down on the dresser and hooked up his Blue tooth wireless ear piece. “Can you hear me? Alright..so..what do you need me to do?”

He started unbuttoning his shirt. His fingers ran down along the white buttons and slowly undid each one. Young Markus was very statuesque in the upper body. He worked out and it showed. He also had a nice tan line, which he was rather proud of.

“I won’t. Don’t worry. But I think my sister already suspects something is up.” Markus nodded as he pulled out another shirt. “My flight is set for this Saturday. It’s am eight Am flight. No..Just me and Mikyle.”

“Hey..” Patty knocked. “Here is those clothes for Mikyle.”

“Hold on.” Markus opened the door. “Thanks..” he took them in hand. “Hm, no..I’ll keep my phone on and be waiting. I also need to make a few other calls today.”

“Who is it?” Patty leaned against the door frame.

“Shh.” He nodded. “Right..Thanks again. Keep me informed.” He reached up and clicked a button the side. “That was just Officer Keith. He was just letting me know about some case developments. Apparently Mrs. Jason tried to contest custody and called the human services department.”

“Oh no..You aren’t losing him, are you?”

“No, nothing like that. They never wanted to give her Mikyle. But they needed sufficient reasons not too..which the officers were kind enough to provide. He said he would call me later with other developments.” Markus tucked his shirt in finally. “Anyways..yeah. Seems we were right about her. She did try something.”

“I swear..that woman..” Patty sighed. “Gods knows what she will try next.”

“That’s why he asked when I was getting back to New York. He also said no one should tell her where I took him if she asks.”

“Like we would do that, Markus.” Patty shook her head. “We would tell her to go you know where.”

“I’m just repeating what he said.” Markus grinned. “And there is my boy.”

“Daddy! I wet!” Mikyle hugged a towel around him.

“So is the bathroom, the floor and the curtains on the bathroom window.” Melissa chuckled.”Here you big boy.”

“Thanks mom. I’ll go get him changed and dressed.” Markus cradled Mikyle. “You ready?”

“Yeah!” Mikyle laughed.

“Alright..I need to go get something sweet.” Patty waved. “Later.”

“Honey?” Melissa blinked. “What’s wrong? She never eats sweets unless something is bugging her.”

“Just the usual, mom.” Markus set his son on the bed. “I’ll tell you in a bit. Let me get him dressed first.”

“Alright..I need to go dry the bathroom floor anyways.” She blew a kiss. “Be good my cute little whale boy.”

“I Mus!” He giggled and rolled away from Markus.” Rawrrr..”

“Come back here.” Markus laughed and grabbed him up. You need a diaper on you little sneak.”

At least Mikyle seemed to acclimate. That was one thing Markus worried about. And..there was him but he seemed to be getting the hang of this dad thing.
