Ilona's Sacrifice
I owe bits of this chapter to almost every dragon/sacrifice movie I have ever seen, and of course just a bit of King Kong. ^_^
Chapter 4
Ilona’s Sacrifice
Ilona looked to her shackled hands and screamed out with a pain that was unheard of, even if she felt none of it. She stood between the two wooden pillars, her arms stretched out to either side of her body, her wrists shackled to the pillars, and her feet dangling over the ground. She saw her fate coming and it frightened her. She did not want to die.
Ilona, wandering gypsy, had been in the wrong place at the wrong time. Her caravan had broken down, the wheel upon her small wagon broken upon the rocks. She had been dressed only in the golden chitan, her auburn hair loose around her shoulders, the golden crown of her Grecian disguise still somewhere lost in the mess of her wagon. When she stepped out of her wagon her caravan was attacked by knights in a metal with a greenish tint. The knights had demanded the gypsies hand over a virgin, and in turn all of the gypsies laughed in their faces. A gypsy virgin? Who had heard of something so silly? Then their unfortunate eyes had all turned to Ilona, who stood looking lost amongst the caravan. Until recently her brother had guarded her so closely that no man could touch her, but when he had been accused of loving her a bit too much he had stepped back. The men had just begun to make their moves so, in fact, she was a virgin.
This meant that Ilona was to be sacrificed to a dragon! She was tied to the pillars, the dragon flying her way, his large and imposing figure coloring the blue daylight sky, and all she could do was scream out in fear. Who sacrificed a young woman any longer? Especially in the daylight where innocent children would watch her be eaten by this red ruby dragon!
“I don’t know about you, but I think it would be a waste for you to die,” a dark voice said into her ear. Ilona tried to turn, to see who spoke to her, but his hands grasped her head and turned her to face the oncoming dragon. “I can guarantee you life, at least for a week more. What would you do to live, fair Ilona?”
Ilona screamed, she saw her brother and the other gypsies fighting to come save her but they would never beat the green knights. She continued to scream. She did not know what choice to make. Should she die by this dragon or postpone life for a week? What if what she chose was worse?
“I can spare your life forever if you just make the right choices,” the voice continued.
“What… would I have to do?” Ilona asked in a shaky scratchy voice. Her beauty was muddled by the many tear stains running through her white make up that was unnecessary. She was a beautiful Grecian Goddess without makeup, with it she looked too much like a doll. The person gripping her very much wanted her for his collection, needed her to be a part of it.
“Malice Maze,” the voice whispered. “You see, the king of this kingdom has no virgins, or at least beautiful virgins. I want someone beautiful. He can feed his daughter to this dragon, you… you I want in the Maze.”
Ilona’s entire body was shaking. The Maze was anything but a pleasant experience. She had heard rumors of the maze, of the many people who had died in there, of the many things that had happened to the people who had survived. She could not imagine going into that maze and maintaining her sanity.
The dragon, now landing on the cliff before her, reaching out towards her, made her sanity questionable to begin with. “Yes!” she screamed, almost like a woman would scream and orgasm. “Yes! I will do anything you ask of me, just do not let me die here!”
“Done!” The pillar, the dragon, and the shackles disappeared. The fighting crowd vanished. The people all vanished except for Ilona, a man draped in a black cloak, and the king who had ordered a virgin’s capture for a sacrifice to a dragon.
“And you doubted my ability to find you a quality virgin!” the robust king laughed. “And even better, we got her to agree to the maze of her own accord!”
Ilona blinked, rubbing her wrists that stung from the biting of the shackles. “What about… the dragon?”
“You stupid slow girl,” the king taunted. “There was no dragon. Well, there is a dragon, but he is my pet, and does not eat virgins. You do not really want to know what he does to virgins, he would have enjoyed you and your beauty, mauling it with his claws as he…”
“Joseph,” the cloaked man warned.
“Sorry, sorry,” King Joseph apologized. “I just get so excited thinking about what that dragon does to young women. I wish I were still young enough. But, soon I will be!”
The cloaked man laughed slightly and gripped Ilona on the shoulder. “You promised me a tromp through the maze,” he reminded her. “When you return you can go back to your caravan and the wandering gypsies who are looking for you. Even your brother, if you so wish.”
Ilona blushed and pushed the man away. “It’s not like that,” she denied.
“The lady doth protest too much?” the cloaked man questioned. Ilona opened her mouth to protest against her protestation but the man had no interest in her histrionics. “Silence, you are beautiful, but it does not mean speak.” The cloaked man turned to King Joseph and smiled. “Come along, you and I have a date with destiny, and this young girl here has a date with a dragon.”
“But I thought…”
“Silence, young fool,” Joseph snapped and pushed the girl forward, the two men laughing as poor Ilona was pulled along, confused and tricked into being a pawn for a kingdom she did not belong to.
