Age Old
Arsenia walked through the gates of the prison to the visitors area. She hadn't seen her father since her mother was murdered and she didn't really feel like seeing him now. All that was on her mind right now was figuring out what was going on, though so she had no choice. Something just told her that she had to talk to him. He was the only person that could possibly tell her what was going on.
She sat down in front of the glass window, behind which sat a man in an orange jumper and a roughed up look to him. Prison does wonders for people you know... Arsenia picked up the reciever next to her as the man did the same thing.
"I didn't think you would ever come to this place, let alone to see me." her fathers raspy tones went through the reciever.
"I didn't really want to. I just came to ask you some questions." Arsenia looked at the man harshly. She looked at his grey-blue eyes that confirmed she was his daughter.
"Look kid, I know you hate me. I would hate me too if I were you; I did some pretty shitty things. I just wanna know if you hate me so much, why in hell did you come all the way out here just to see me?" he said as he glared into her.
"Your eyes, David." Arsenia said, returning his glare. David looked at her astonished as if that was the last thing he expected to hear. Arsenia continued to stare into his eyes. As she watched him she watched his eyes turn from their cool grey color into a light amber. "See that's what I mean. My eyes do the same thing; they change colors with my mood like that. Now I know I wasn't mistaken in coming here to ask you about this. You're nervous."
"Your eyes do the same thing? I always thought you got your eyes from your mother." David looked away and mumbled into the reciever, "How could that happen... girls aren't supposed to recieve the trait..."
"What do you mean, David? Girls aren't supposed to get what trait?"
David turned back and studied Arsenia, as if taking her in piece by piece, trying to place something in his mind. "Your eyes aren't supposed to be the same. Only the men are cursed... I had sisters, they didn't get it... I got it from my mother, but it wasnt prominent, it was only dormant in her. As it should be."
"What are you talking about, David? I need to know." Arsenia's stomach twisted. Part of her needed to know, but now there was a second part of her that didnt want to hear it.
"There was a curse put on the men of my family hundreds of years ago. I don't know what exactly the curse was supposed to be, but I do know that something is going to happen. I remember being told that when the curse is passed to a woman, it will diminish but only after taking its toll. It's true nature has passed to you now, and through you the world will see its true form." when David finished his story, he hung up the reciever and got up from his chair.
By the time Arsenia stood up and tried to get her father to explain more, David had punched the guard in the gut and snarled. She couldn't hear what he was saying, but she saw the words form from his mouth, "This isn't happening..." After he punched the guard, he raised his elbow and dropped it onto his head. The guard stayed knelt down, hold his stomach as another emerged from the door hold his gun out in front of him. The second guard yelled something Arsenia still couldn't hear, and David lunged at him. The guard pulled his trigger and put a hole through David's head.
Arsenia stared in astonishment. She couldn't believe what had happened, she looked on as the other visiting peoples scrambled away from the windows and the other prisoners took cover.
"This isn't happening..." She whispered under her breath as she walked away from the scene.
