His Most Beautiful Flower

"Master! It is so pretty!" Trinity gasped at the fresh-fallen, snow covered ground of the garden. It was small to him, but very large to her. At just over an acre, the garden was her small escape to some sort of outside world. The moon shone down over the powdery snow. It made the crystals of ice shine like diamonds and best yet it wasn't even cold!

Trinity's sandaled feet left small prints in the snow covering the ground as she ran forward. The flowers in the garden were still in full bloom. Snow graced their petals of red, green, and all colors that Trinity adored. Trees climbed up to and kissed an ebony sky that held many sparkling stars within its dark embrace. It was amazing that this could be inside a demons castle as well. He sat down on a snow covered bench to watch the girl run and play in the garden's paths.

He sighed despite himself. Seeing the girl made that strange feeling inside come back again. That feeling was peace, even though he would deny every bit of it if it was pointed out to him. He would also severely punish the individual that dared say such a thing to him. He never worried about Trinity saying it. There were many things that only she could do and others could not.

"Is the snow enough?"

"Oh yes! I love it. Thank you, Master!"

She knelt down in the snow and started to pat together the beginnings of a large snow ball. Trinity giggled and started to roll it around on the ground until it increased in size steadily.

He smiled again when he watched her do this. His back rested against a tree and he crossed his arms over his chest. He was once again doing his favorite of hobbies. He found this more desirable than even killing, which was definitely saying something.

Soon his Trinity had another ball of snow piled onto the first. She grunted and tried to push another of smaller size up but the snow balls had grown so tall she could not reach anymore. Trinity furrowed her brow and her little light bulb turned on in her head. "Master?"

"Yes, pet?"

"Can you help me finish my snow man? I can't put the head on. I'm too short."

"Yes."

It was all he said. Zanhmere stood and walked over to her. She giggled when he wrapped his hands around her hips and lifted her with the snow man's head up. Trinity patted the snow down and started to fill in the tiny crevices while he held her up. She didn't want the snow man's head rolling off. "Thank you master!"

"What is this?"

"It is a snowman, Master."

She smiled and he sat her down on the ground again. This was something new for him. A snowman? He examined the body from base to the head he helped her put on and watched her finish patting snow around it. He watched her go and pull two sticks from a tree and bring them back. They were made into the snowman's arms. He tilted his head lightly when she placed small blue roses down the snowman's front to act as his buttons. Yes! He could see what she was doing now. This creature resembled a man.

"I need help again, Master. Can you lift me up so I can put his eyes, nose, and mouth on?"

"Hang on, pet."

He lifted her again. Trinity grinned and started to place smaller flowers in a row for the snowman's mouth. She placed two green petaled roses on his face for his eyes. His nose was small rock she found in the garden. It looked like a pretty crystal to her, so she used it.

"Well, he looks interesting, doesn't he?" Zanhmere didn't know what else to say about this strange thing his Trinity just created.

Trinity nodded and slipped to the ground again. She leaned against Zanhmere and smiled. She always smiled when he was there with her. "Its too bad he will go away when the snow melts away."

"He doesn't have to go away. Do you wish him to stay in the garden, even if he is surrounded by grass and sun?"

"Can you do that?" Trinity gasped at this prospect. She never thought about getting to keep her snowman like that.

He nodded and his hand brushed her loose hair from over her eyes. Trinity pulled it back promptly and put it into a French-style bun. She used her hair to hold it in place. This was much better. He could see her face now. "It is done. Your snow man will always sit in the garden and wait for you to come visit every day."

"Thank you, Master!!" She hugged him tightly.

Trinity let a coo of delight come from her as he picked her up and held her. She liked it when he hugged her. Trinity never felt so safe. She wanted to always feel safe. Zanhmere would oblige her whims. Her contented happiness made that feeling inside him come. This was why he did it. He would never bore or tire of her. His desire was simply to give her that everything so he could feel that strange warmth inside.

"I think I want to name him Master Zanhmere; so that way, my master will always be in the garden waiting for me, too."

"It is settled. That is his name." Zanhmere smiled and nodded to her.

Trinity hugged him even tighter now. The warmth of her cheek touched his as she cuddled against him. A small yawn made its naughty escape from her, however.

"I think it is also time for you to go to bed."

"I just woke up." Trinity gave him a pouted look.

He could see that all the excitement had exhausted her body's energy. Trinity knew she felt tired, too. She just didn't want to admit it.

"Sleep now and I promise that tomorrow you will wake full of energy again. The elixir I gave you is still working. I was surprised you actually woke so soon." Zanhmere carried her to the gardens exit.

Trinity nodded and closed her eyes. Her yawn sounded like a small little purr to his ears. "I wanted to see you."

"You will see me. For now, sleep and tomorrow will bring you a refreshed new day."

"Will I get tired like this anymore, Master?"

"No, Trinity. The effects will be complete and tomorrow will be just as any other for you."

"Master?"

"Hm?" His feet started to carry them towards her room.

Trinity didn't want to go in there right now. She didn't get to see him all day. "Can I sleep in your bed with you?"

"Of course, pet."

"Oh! I forgot to bring a pretty flower with me from the garden to give to you!"

"That is okay, sweet. Master has brought the best flower with him from his garden." He was referring to Trinity, of course.

She giggled tiredly as the sweet whispers of sleep over took her. She was asleep before they reached his bed chambers. He cradled Trinity against him and nodded to Missiva.

"Master? Shall I turn down her bed?" Missiva had just turned down his. She was not sure if he would place Trinity in her room or not.

Zanhmere shook his head. It was very obvious that he was going to take her into his room with him. "No Missiva. She is going to stay with me. You will bring me some thing to eat, however. I find myself a bit parched as well."

"Yes, Master. I will bring it straight away."

The woman bowed to him. Zanhmere dismissed her with a glance before turning to his bedroom and finally he walked in. The great black oak doors closed once again behind him and his pet. She was laid on the welcoming mattress and covers were brought over her. Zanhmere really didn't need sleep per se. He could go three weeks without getting tired. He only slept as he did because Trinity liked to be beside him often.

It was nothing sexual between the two. It was simply that comfort that one another provided for each other. Demons didn't fall victim to the wanton, lustful emotions man often did. They were a misunderstood being. Sex was often associated with them when it shouldn't be. They only performed those acts to torture and torment. It hurt whomever they were going it with with. Demons found they liked that hurt it caused.

Zanhmere was no different on this. He wasn't a virgin demon either. He just didn't do those things with his pet. It wasn't needed. There was a greater understanding between the two. They gave each other something more. It was more because sex could never amount to the peace and innocence that his most precious breath, this beautiful immortal flower of a girl, possessed.

"Master?"

The door to his room pushed open and the smell of meats caught his nose. Zanhmere's stomach rumbled with want for delectably cooked substance. This was another misunderstood fact about demons. Just because they were demons and sometimes feasted on raw meat, it didn't mean they did not like cooked food! Humans were fools when it came to their beliefs about demonic beings. Maybe that was why they were the most picked on.

"Ah. Bring it here," Zanhmere commanded Missiva. The words please and thank you did not exist in his vocabulary.

Missiva obediently stepped forward. Her gaze lowered as she approached and started to set the tray on the table.

"No. Hold it and feed me. My arms are occupied." They were wrapped around Trinity. She was fast asleep against his chest.

Missiva set the plate to the side and began to offer up the strips of meat to her master. There were selections of beef, pork and chicken on the tray, at least their versions of these meats. Missiva never asked what it really was. She might not like the answer if one decided to actually pay attention to her. Trinity however, got real human foods. This is mostly what she tried to bring master because she knew Trinity nibbled off his plate.

"Is she feeling okay, Master?"

"Yes. She will be her complete self by morning."

He understood that she was only asking because in all her years with Trinity, Missiva had grown a sort of motherly bond with the child. So no, he did not get angry at her questions. Missiva offered the cup to his lips and he sipped from the bone glass. It looked like a cup but its material was thin, carved out and shaped bones.

"I want you to have her a hot bath ready for when she wakes. It will help her to fully wake."

"Yes Master."

Missiva continued to quietly feed him. Trinity's breathing provided a soothing, rhythmic background noise for the two from this point. Zanhmere felt that if he could sit and listen to this most peaceful of sounds then any one should be content with it. The black haired woman left him and Trinity in silence afterwards. She carried the empty tray away with her and only the slow creak of the door closing announced her exit. She did her job. Missiva knew it well enough by now that she did not have to ask permission to leave after doing what she was told.

Once again it was him and his Trinity. Zanhmere settled back against the pillows with her against him. His eyes never left her sleeping form. Tomorrow was another day, and he had things he must attend. This day away from his duties put him slightly behind, but he didn't care. Missiva would watch over Trinity for him while he was away. He would come back from them and find his sweet pet there to greet him. It was the perfect ending of his thoughts and the perfect beginning of forever.
