Saying Goodbye is harder then it sounds

Both Jessica and Nicole made their way back out to the busy office space. Jessica was looking around for Mark to give him Nicole's information, and Nicole was just perplexed...she was going to see her family for the last time...to say goodbye as Jessica had put it. Jessica stopped suddenly, and Nicole just bumped into her...she didn't even noticed, she just stood there looking into space. Jessica turned around to face her "you ok?" she asked. Nicole just simply replied"...for the moment “Look I know saying goodbye is going to be..."Jessica trailed off her little feel better speech when she spotted mark.”Hey...Mark, I got something for you, looks like we have a new reaper on our hands." She said looking over at Nicole. Mark did the something "well now, that’s great...I’m always looking for new reapers." Nicole looked up at him as he smiled he was a lot calmer then when she first saw him “welcome" He held out his hand for her to shake it and she accepted it" thanks" she mumbled, her mind on her family. "Now it will take two weeks to train you, and of course Jessica will be with you to see you through to the end" he said looking from Jessica back to Nicole"...I Just have to take your information and get it all set up...were are you off too now?" He asked wondering "I'm taking her to say her final goodbyes to her Family" Jessica said in a respectful and sadden tone. "Ah...well, I let you go then, once again Nicole Welcome to the Department of Death" He smiled at Nicole once again and was on his way. "You ok?" Jessica asked "I'll be fine, can we just get this over with" Nicole said with a bit of bitterness in her voice. Jessica sensing that no more conversation would take place led Nicole down a hall way, until they reached a Black door. "Ok here we are, when we walk through this door, we will be in the City Morgue...were your body is." Jessica said looking at the door "and that’s were my family is?" asked Nicole disconnectedly as she looked and placed her hand on the door knob. "yes" Nicole sighed and turned the knob, white light surrounded the both of them. Nicole closed her eyes as she felt the now familiar feeling of being lifted of the ground.
************

Nicole opened her eyes as she landed on the floor of the Morgue. She looked a round, it was a well lit room filled with surgical tools used for autopsies. The coroner's desk in the corner, on top was covered in case files. The Nicole's eyes fell on a table in the center of the room, on top was a body covered with a sheet. She walked over to it, Jessica walked beside her. "That's my body...isn't it?" Nicole asked, looking over the covered body. "Yup, that's it...your body" Jessica said with a sideways glance. Nicole wondered what her body looked like now...did the coroner have a chance to look it over. Did they work on her body yet? Was she too late? Did she miss her family? All of those questions were pushed from her mind as the Coroner walked in. He was a tall man who had short black hair, wore glasses and had on a white lab coat followed by blue scrubs. He stood aside to allow a women and a man enter. Nicole recognized them, they were her parents. Her mother looked distressed, her usually shine bouncy, curly blonde hair was lackluster and messy. Her green eyes were red and puffy from crying, her cheeks were tear streaked. She was wearing a navy blue dress suit...which means she must have came from work. Nicole thought. Her mother was an Ad executive for some big time New York Company. Then she looked over at her Father, he was taller then his wife and had his arm around her shoulder, and he too was still dressed in his work clothes, he was a lawyer. His face was express less, his eyes brown eyes (same colour as Nicole) filled with sorrow. His grey hair slicked back, he just stood there and looked at the table. "Mr. and Mrs. Brown, is this your daughter?" The Coroner asked as he walked over to the table and slowly pulled back the sheet.
He pulled back the sheet down to the bodies’ shoulders to Reveal Nicole's dead body, the body was clean and the broken bones were not so noticeable, but the cuts and the Bruises were now more then ever clearer. Nicole's mother let out a cry and tears started to flow once more from her eyes as she buried her face in her husband's chest. Nicole's farther just closed his eyes, took a deep breath and said "...yes Doctor that's our Nicole" As Nicole watched her parents, Jessica walked over to the other side of the table to exam the Coroner's work. She looked at were he started the Y incision, she then thought about how much cleaner autopsy's were today compared to when she died, she admired the work, however morbid that thought was. Nicole moved closer to her parents, she felt tears start to swell up in her eyes as she heard them talk. "They told us she was in a car accident" Her father said releasing her mother, who made her way over to the body. "yes that was the apparent cause of death...we...""how can that be my baby was a good driver...a GOOD driver." her mother said cutting off the Coroner, and placing her hand on her dead daughters hand, and broke down once more. Nicole's father came over and hugged his wife. "shhh Lyn, its ok, she's in a better place now" Oh John" She buried her face again in his chest. Nicole closed her eyes and the tears spilled over, she hated seeing her parents in pain. She took a deep breath in and looked over at Jessica, who was now looking over the tools that were used. "What do I do now?" She asked as she walked over to stand beside her parents. "Simple, you say goodbye and anything else you want to say" she said looking up at her. Nicole sighed and looked at the ground "...that simple eh?” She wiped away her tears, and turned to face them. "Mom...Dad. I know when I was younger I got into a lot of trouble, but you were always there to bail me out, you to were the best parents anyone could ever ask for, I’m sorry you won't get to see me graduate..." she stopped and took another deep breath and to suppressed more tears "...and I’m sorry I have to leave" She ended, she wanted to touch her mother, but when she tried, she went right though. She took her hand back, and broke down, she fell to the floor. Jessica came over and bent down beside her. "It's ok, I Know I know, and its hard...it will be ok...” She patted Nicole on the back and consoled her "...it’s not going to be ok, I‘m dead." she said looking at Jessica "...It will be ok, you'll see" Jessica said with a reassuring smile, she then helped Nicole up. Nicole took one last look at her grieving parents, and said with a heavy heart "...Saying goodbye is harder then its sounds..."
