Temptation

Lee paced around her 1 bedroom apartment trying to finish her Radiology homework, it was now 5:30 and she had wanted to be finished by 5:00, so that she could have her block buster night. School had only been in session for two weeks, and Lee already felt as if she were buried with no escape in work, this was when she decided she needed a day of rest. Earlier that day she had went to Blockbuster and rented her two favorite movies, When Harry Met Sally, and Rush Hour, and a movie that she had been wanting to see for the longest, Hitch.
“Whew, finally” Lee said to herself as she set down her book down on the counter.
Excitedly Lee skipped over to the counter picking up some snacks as she went,
“Who stole the cookie from the cookie jar…,” Lee sang to herself as she picked up several cookies. She dropped all of her snacks on the floor as she continued to skip into her room to pick up a few covers and some pillows, as she came back into the living room she heard the doorbell ring, “Coming,” she said merrily skipping to the door.
“Who is it?” she said as she swung open the door. “Oh hi, how have you been, I haven’t seen you,” she paused as if thinking for a moment “since yesterday.”

“Hey, I’ve been good, but I was wondering if I could use your phone, something is wrong with my connection and it keeps dropping all my calls, I promise it won’t happen again please.” Thomas said insistently

“Sure come on in, the phone is still in the kitchen,” she said as she pointed him in the right direction.
Lee went back into the living room, sat down on the couch and picked up her movies. “Humm, which one shall I watch first,” she thought for a moment “I could use a little humor and love, make it Big Willie.” She said as she pulled out the tape and popped it into the VCR. She put the movie case down next to her snacks and plopped down on the floor. While she settling the pillows in around her Thomas came in to the living room

“Thanks for letting me use your phone, I really appreciate it.” Thomas yelled over the sound of Lee’s television.

Lee sat up pushing the volume down button and said “it was nothing feel free to come over anytime.”

“So, looks like you have a busy day ahead of you” Thomas said sarcastically

“Yeah doesn’t it,” Lee said with half a smile, “I’m just having a movie night, trying to wind down I’m already stressed about classes and they’ve only been in session for two weeks.”

“Oh, that sounds like a good idea”

“What are you doing today, you can join me if you’re not to busy, I wouldn’t mind a little company make the movie a little more interesting.”

“I don’t know I have lots of homework to do, I have yet to tackle that Radiology homework and we have a test coming up in a week.”

“Okay, well have fun. Believe me that homework is a doozy” Lee said as Thomas began to back up towards the door.

Thomas stopped at the door, “Actually, I will stay. I’ve decided I need a break also shoot my life motto is ‘Why do today what you can do tomorrow’” Thomas said laughing.
Lee looked at him frowning “none of my business,” she thought to herself.

He walked back over to the couch and took a seat, “So what movies we got.”

“Rush Hour, Hitch and When Harry Met Sally, I’ve started with a little of Big Willie if you know what I mean,” Lee said as she reached up to turn the volume back up.

“No, what do you mean” Thomas asked joking. They both began to laugh.

“But really, I haven’t seen that yet, good choice” Thomas said as he patted her on the shoulder, “hey if you would like some popcorn I’ve got some of that kettle corn back at my house”

“Oh yumm, I would love some, and there are some more sodas in my fridge, you can help yourself.”

“Ok be right back”

“AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA” they both laughed out loud at Alex and his date mishaps. First he ran out of gas on his jet ski, then when he was trying to get on Sara’s ski’s, Alex ends up kicking her off into the frigid waters, then they go to the museum and he makes her cry, and if that wasn’t enough he gets his shirt ripped of in the taxi cab door. Lee turns down the volume

“If he didn’t have the date from hell I don’t know what it was.”

“I agree, I don’t know why they went out again.”

“I could understand why they would, they both believe in second chances, anyway its not like any he did anything on purpose.” Lee said as if it were an obvious answer.

Thomas looked skeptical, “I would never give anyone that gave me a black eye a second chance, I don’t think I would give anyone second chance after a First date like that.”

“I bet you would rethink that if you thought she was the right one for you and-”

“Right one,” Tomas said skeptically, “you can’t know that by a first date, that takes time, I don’t believe in that junk about -”
“Love at first sight” they both said at the same time
They laughed, and then turned back to the movie.

“Hey Megan I have to go now” Lee said, she had been on the phone with Megan for about and hour talking about absolutely nothing.

“Girl you always doing that damn homework, you know, you need to get a life.”

“Megan I have a life, and right now I’m trying to get back to it,” Lee said while shuffling through her papers, she had done the rest of her homework after her and Thomas’ movie night. Lee blanked out for a second thinking of the great time she and Thomas had. He had stayed and watched all the movies last night even When Harry Met Sally, even though he thought it was stupid for them to take so long to realize they liked each other. She loved having such a peaceful and carefree time with Thomas, they could have silences that didn’t feel strained, and she thought it was so cute how they sometimes finished each others sentences. Realizing that Megan was still talking she tuned back in.

“…….I know, homework, homework, homework, school, school, school, why don’t you come out with us tonight, I haven’t asked in a long while and this time I wont try to set you up with anyone, op wait just a minute I never got to ask you how you liked Samuel you left early and I still saw Samuel there.”

“He was nice,” Lee answered shortly. She knew that if she told Megan the truth the about herself and Samuel the teasing would never end, and Megan would always try to set her up.

“What, is that all, I want details what did he do, did you like him, was he funny, give me something.”

Lee sighed, she knew she was never going to get off the phone if she didn’t give Megan some details, “ok, ok he was nice, polite, thoughtful, he was good, and” Lee took a deep breath and mumbled “we have a date tonight”

“What was that I couldn’t hear what you said?” said teasingly

“I said, we have a date tonight” she mumbled

“Oh, so you have a date tonight, I knew you would like him, I told you I was a good judge of character.” Megan gloated

“Ok, whatever.” Lee agreed; even though she knew Megan’s last two ‘hook ups’ ended horribly. “Ok I have to go now he should be here Saul should be here soon”

“Yeah? Ok call me as soon as you get back ok, bye. Oh hey wait, I just wanted to give you some friendly advice,”

“Yeah what’s that” Lee asked kidding

“Don’t do anything I would do.” Megan laughed as she hung up the phone in Lee’s ear.

Lee chuckled as she hung up the phone, and rushed to the bathroom after checking the time on the clock.

Ding-dong, ding- dong
Lee checked her lipstick in the mirror before going to answer the door, “Hey Saul you can come in, I just have to get a few more things together and I’ll be ready.”

“Sure, so were do you want go” Saul asked as Lee began to walk away.

“Wherever you want to go is fine with me.”

“Ok, umm, how about the movies?”

Lee thought for a moment “Well actually I just had a movie night last night, how about we go skating.” She asked hopefully

Saul looked at her weirdly for a moment then agreed, “Sounds fun to me,” I can even show you a few moves if you want.

Lee laughed as she came back into the living room, “Ok, I’m ready.”

Lee circled around Saul during free skate, “I thought you were going to show some new moves.” She said jokingly

“Well, I guess I spoke to soon, who knew you were a professional,” Saul said pouting

“Oh come on,” Lee said grabbing his arm as tried to skate out of the rink. “I might even let you hold me during the next song,” she leaned over and whispered in his ear, “fast or slow.”

A now grinning Saul turned back around and grabbed her around the waist, “well maybe I can show you a few moves after all.”

Lee laughed in his ear and leaned into him.
