Ice struggled with his safety belt.
“It’s fucking jammed!”
“Use your knife you fucking moron!” Candy was fuming. Ice fumbled around in his pocket and pulled out a butterfly knife. As he slit his safety belt he crashed into the roof. He scrambled out of the car and stood beside Candy. The air was humid, heat seemed to be radiating from the black top.
“How many bullets do you have…” said Ice.
“Not enough…”
“Figures…I’ll hold them off while you and the girl make a run for it.”
“Fuck you…” Candy growled
“Gladly but I don’t think this is the time or place.”
Celeste opened her eyes and looked at the ghosts.
“Leave me alone…I don’t want to play with you anymore…”
Just as they began to lunge for Candy, the albino creatures grabbed their heads and
screamed in agonizing pain.
“What the hell…” Ice stood gawking as he held his ears.
“Don’t ask just run!” Candy could feel the sheer power being emitted from the small shaking form of Celeste.
Ice reached into his back pocket and grabbed his cell phone and flipped it open.
“Kay it’s me, we need a ride, fast, we’re running on Pine, make that 48th.” Ice dropped the phone and followed Candy around a corner.
“We’re about half a mile from the safe zone!” He shouted.
“We won’t make it…” she yelled back.
“Then where the hell are we going!?”
“Bade’s!”
Ice didn’t seem too happy about this but he wasn’t about to argue. They turned at another corner, then another. There were going into the shitty part of town. There were crumbling buildings and old broken down cars. Men looked at Candy with hungry eyes as she ran down the street. She ran up the stoop of a particularly nasty building.
The shutters were barely hanging on, the paint was stained and cracked. As Candy banged on the door with her fist it surprised Ice that it didn’t fall in.
There was cursing from inside.
“Open the damn door!”
“Who the hell is it?!”
A tall man with bright green eyes opened the door. His hair was messier than Candy’s, it was also very obvious that he hadn’t shaved in a while. Though his hair was snowy white he couldn\'t have been more than twenty.
“Oh…its you…Candy do you have any god damned idea what time it is?”
“Get out of the damn way.” Candy pushed him aside, as soon as Ice was in she slammed the door and locked it.
“Would someone mind telling me what the hells going on?”
“We missed you too baby.” Ice said in a feminine voice
“And what the hell is he doing here?”
“Just shut up both of you.” Candy put Celeste down and pulled out her gun. As she peered out the window she saw nothing out of the ordinary.
“What’s going on…”
“We were being chased by ghosts.”
Bade looked at her as if trying to fully comprehend what she was saying.
“What do you mean ‘Ghosts’?”
“Exactly what she fucking said!” Ice growled.
“But that’s not possible…Ghost’s can’t think…they can’t act as a group, they’d kill each other.
“Well it looks like they’ve changed the rules…” Candy put her gun away and looked to the unconscious little girl.
