The New Generation: Part 4

A/N: Thank you to Mitsukai and Lianelle for the feedback. It\'s great to know you\'re enjoying it and it helps me from being discouraged at the low amount of hits. *sighs*

Anyway, I will update as much as I can but very soon my life will be kind of chaotic for a while and updating may not be as often. Please bear with me, I will let you know when it happens.

Back to this chapter, where Fredo finds out that Mackie ran. And no one, NO ONE runs from Fredo.

The New Generation: Part 4

This is getting really boring, Brodie thought to himself as he drifted from crowd to crowd, hoping to hear something about the Underground. He\'d flash his cutest smile and innocently ask if anyone had heard about the Underground. The answers he got from the kids ranged from \"They\'re fucking cool,\" to \"The fuckers should be thrown in a Workcamp,\" but no useful information he could bring back to Fredo later. Nothing about where the Underground was or even what they were other than a militant anti-Supe organization whose goal was to overthrow the Supe government. With the Omegas they recruited, The Underground would easily be able to do that.

There were better things that Brodie could be doing and none of them would be found here, hanging around doing fuck all.

He was about to just pop on back to the hotel when someone whispered, \"You wanna know about the Underground, mmmm?\"

Brodie turned in the direction of the voice and saw a very pretty blond boy with the most gorgeous eyes Brodie had ever seen. Clear like green glass. \"What do you know about it?\" was his whispered reply, not wanting to look too eager.

\"Why do you want to know?\" the boy asked with a slightly threatening tone.

Holy fuck, this boy WAS in the Underground. Brodie had hit the jackpot and suddenly this wasn\'t boring anymore. \"Got my reasons,\" he answered nonchalantly.

\"Well I\'m not gonna talk here,\" the boy told him, still whispering, \"let\'s go somewhere private, yeah?\"

Brodie followed him down an alley a few blocks away, mentally tracking each step he took so if he had to he could make a quick getaway. Brodie could teleport anywhere as long as he\'d been there already but he had to get a psionic sense of where he was going or he wouldn\'t end up where he wanted.

It was a good thing too. The alley was a dead end and it was no coincidence that the boy had backed him into the wall. It was at times like these that Brodie wished he had a useful Gift instead of something useless like his Traveling. Sure, it had its perks and it made stealing and escaping easier. But it wasn\'t like he could teleport anything else unless it happened to be on him or he was holding it and if he was in danger, he could only run, he couldn\'t defend himself. Not like Morgan, who could immobilize someone or even give them a heart attack with a thought or Mackie who effortlessly snapped necks like twigs. And of course, Fredo, who could make anyone do or not do what he wanted them to.

And there was something about the boy that made Brodie more than uneasy. Maybe it was the way his green eyes glittered. And the way they sized him up. As if Brodie was being measured. And found lacking. He shook the apprehension that was threatening to overtake him and fell back on Fredo\'s credo. Brodie was an Omega. He had nothing to fear. Even if this boy was an Omega, Brodie had nothing to fear. He had nothing to fear and Brodie would repeat it to himself until he really believed it.

The boy suddenly leaned forward and boxed Brodie in with his arms. \"Now that we\'re nice and alone,\" he said with a grin, \"why don\'t you tell me what you really want, kid?\"

Kid? \"Look who\'s talking,\" Brodie replied, forgetting about and abandoning being on his best behavior. \"I\'m almost fifteen. How old\'re you?\"

The boy laughed. \"You\'re the one who wants to know about the Underground and you have the balls to ask me my age? Fine. I\'m not much older than you.\"

\"Then don\'t call me kid,\" Brodie said.

A roll of the green eyes. \"Then what do I call you since I don\'t know your name. Kid,\" he added, watching Brodie to see what he\'d do.

\"Brodie.\" Then he smiled. \"Your turn.\"

The boy shrugged. \"Jamie and you have exactly thirty seconds to tell me what you want with the Underground.\" He moved closer until he was almost on top of Brodie, holding him to the wall. Close enough for Brodie to feel Jamie\'s crotch suddenly resting against his. Jamie\'s hard crotch. He was getting off on messing with Brodie\'s head.

The fucked up thing was Brodie was responding whether he wanted to or not. Even if he was getting as aroused as he was pissed off. \"What do you want with me?\" Brodie retorted. \"Do you really know about the Underground or is this whole cloak and dagger thing just a way to get me into bed?\"

As if he was answering Brodie, Jamie\'s hands suddenly moved to Brodie\'s shoulders. \"Do you want me to get you into bed?\"

Brodie had enough but couldn\'t teleport as long as Jamie\'s hands were gripping him so tightly and when he tried to wrench himself out of Jamie\'s grip, any doubts of Jamie being an Omega vanished. Another Mackie? Brodie wondered. \"Let go,\" Brodie demanded.

\"Why?\" Jamie answered, his tone a combination of mocking and teasing in a whole other way. \"You don\'t want me to.\" As if he was making his point, he thrust against Brodie and his tongue flickered across Brodie\'s lips. \"Do you?\"

Brodie never got the chance to answer because Jamie\'s mouth suddenly took his own and speech was out of the question. Shit, the other boy\'s mouth was cold, ice cold, making Brodie\'s tongue seem feverishly hot in comparison but he found himself returning the kiss, understanding that Jamie was offering him information for sex. All things considering, that was a pretty small price to pay and if the way Jamie was humping Brodie, it\'d be a very enjoyable one.

The kiss grew deeper and more heated for a while before Jamie\'s mouth slipped away and his tongue ran down Brodie\'s jaw to his throat. \"I\'m in the Underground and I can tell you whatever you want to know, Brodie,\" Jamie murmured against his neck as he began to suck hard.

Then he abruptly froze. \"I gotta go now but can I see you later? Like at your hotel room?\"

Brodie blinked. \"How do you know I\'m even in a hotel, never mind the hotel room.\"

Jamie laughed. \"We\'ve been watching you. But can I come into your room and see you later?\" he pressed.

\"I guess so,\" Brodie decided. \"But really late, okay? I don\'t want anyone seeing us. I can let you in if you knock four times, so I know it\'s you.\"

Jamie winked. \"Don\'t worry. All I needed was the invite. I don\'t need a door.\" He kissed Brodie full on the mouth. \"See you later,\" Jamie said before Brodie noticed that the other boy seemed to be fading away, becoming misty before vanishing altogether.

Strong and a Traveler? Enough to make Fredo drool. Brodie had no doubt that Jamie would be Fredo\'s first acquisition.

And speaking of Fredo….

\"Why the hell did you let him go?\" Brodie suddenly heard Fredo ask softly. \"You had an Omega in your hands and you just let him go?\"

When did he get here? Did he see everything? Was he watching the whole time when he was making out with Jamie, proving he was the empty headed little maricon he knew Fredo thought he was. The very thought made Brodie break into a cold sweat and he could almost smell his own fear.

And not only did Fredo know it, he got off on it. So Brodie handled it the way he always handled his fear. He covered it up with a great show of bravado, knowing he wasn\'t fooling Fredo or himself but not caring, it was all about appearances. Even if it was only for appearance\'s sake. \"Didn\'t just let him do anything,\" Brodie muttered, \"it wasn\'t like I could\'ve stopped him, Fredo.\"

\"You could have followed him.\"

Yeah, if Jamie had teleported then sure, Brodie could have easily sensed the energy surge and followed it but there was no such surge. Brodie didn\'t hear the giveaway pop of air so there had to be no teleportation whatsoever. It was more like Jamie\'s body had dissipated into thin air, like a puff of smoke.

\"He left no trace for me to follow,\" Brodie told Fredo, but Fredo wouldn\'t care about any of that. All he\'d see is that Brodie failed him.

\"No trace, huh,\" Fredo mused then smiled. \"He\'s in the Underground, right? And since you both were getting REALLY friendly,\" he didn\'t bother to hide the disgust in his eyes or his tone, \"I\'d say he\'ll want to see you again, eh Brode?\"

Brodie gritted his teeth and ignored the dig. \"Probably.\"

\"Definitely. And if it takes you to lure him over to our side, then lure away. Use that pretty face and cute little body and get him to listen to reason.\" Fredo patted Brodie\'s shoulder. \"Then enjoy it because once he\'s one of us, that shit stops.\"

* * *
Where the fuck did Mackie go? Morgan had searched up and down the Old Quarter and he\'d seen neither hide nor hair of his friend. As much as he wanted to find him, Morgan wasn\'t sure of what he\'d do when he did. They hadn\'t parted on the best of terms and Morgan didn\'t know what he\'d say. Or do.

Moreover, he didn\'t know how Fredo would take things and what exactly was Morgan gonna tell him? Oh by the way Fredo, Mackie has come down with some freak blood disease that makes him crave human blood and I can\'t cure him. No chance in fucking hell.

And if Morgan was wrong and Mackie actually was at the hotel waiting, what then? Mackie said he couldn\'t stop. He COULDN\'T STOP! Would Mackie\'s needs drive him to attack Morgan again? Or Brodie? Or would Mackie go after Fredo and force Fredo to kill him?

Morgan made a quick decision. If by some miracle Mackie returned to them, Morgan would … feed Mackie his own blood until he could get the proper equipment to transfuse his blood to Mackie\'s veins. That would give Morgan time to study Mackie further and either come up with a way to cure him or a lie that would satisfy Fredo.

That decided, he started to search again but he was so involved with his search that he literally ran into Fredo. And Brodie. Shit.

\"Isn\'t this nice,\" Fredo said with a smile. \"Two family members, here to meet me. But we seem to be missing someone.\" His eyes fixed on Morgan, who felt like a bug under a magnifying glass. \"Where\'s Shadow?\" he asked Morgan, using the name no one called Mackie to his face. Not even Fredo.

Lying was not an option now. Not when Fredo\'s full attention was on Morgan and Fredo would instantly sense a lie. \"I don\'t know,\" he admitted.

\"You don\'t know,\" Fredo repeated quietly. \"Why is that, Morg?\"

Fuck, another truth he\'d have no choice about revealing. \"He ran away, Fredo.\"

\"Ran away?\" Fredo tapped his foot impatiently. \"Again, why Morgan? I know my second in command is not telling me he had no control over the situation that led our Omega brother bail on us and mutiny, is he?\"

Fredo had a way of shoving you right between a rock and a hard place where you\'d piss him off no matter what you said and it became a choice between which answer would save your own ass. This was no exception and as much as Morgan liked Mackie, maybe even loved him; he had his real brother\'s life to worry about.

Not to mention his own.

\"Fredo,\" Morgan began, attempting to find the best way to put it.

And Fredo knew it. \"Yeah?\" he replied with an edge of impatience.

Fuck, there was no good way to put it. \"Mackie, he\'s really, really sick.\"

Fredo raised his eyebrows. \"You don\'t say. I thought healthy people always puked up meals.\"

Even with the pressure Fredo was putting on him now, that pressure didn\'t make him any less attractive to Morgan. It\'d be easier if it did.

\"It\'s more than that,\" Morgan said.

Fredo smiled but it wasn\'t friendly, it was the smile that promised terrible things if Morgan let Fredo down. \"How much more?\"

Morgan took a deep breath. \"For starters, Mackie doesn\'t have a working stomach or even a functioning digestive system. Half his organs are dysfunctional. He shouldn\'t even be alive, Fredo.\"

\"Of course he should be alive,\" Fredo corrected. \"Mackie is an Omega, why shouldn\'t he be capable of incredible things?\" Then he laughed. \"Was that why he ran, Morgan? Because he thought I\'d see it as a defect?\" He shook his head. \"That\'s Shadow for you, always seeing the glass half empty.\"

Brodie, who\'d been quiet up until now, piped up, \"Isn\'t not having a stomach a defect?\"

Morgan wanted to kick him but Fredo laughed again. \"He has no stomach because he needs none, Brode. Somehow, our Omega brother is managing to sustain himself without eating.\"

Morgan instantly choked. \"Not quite, Fredo.\"

Fredo snorted. \"He\'s the perfect specimen. Super strong. Super fast. And self-sustaining. When you bring him back, Morg, I\'ll have you analyze how his body works, to see if it can be duplicated when he knocks up the next Omega girl that joins us.\" Not if Morgan brought Mackie back. When. As if it was a foregone conclusion. \"Then you can make sure several eggs get fertilized so she\'ll have a good many at once. These children of the new generation will be even more perfect.\" He slung an arm across Morgan\'s shoulder. \"And once Mackie impregnates several Omegas, once the babies grow up, they\'ll make the ultimate army.\"

Morgan shuddered at the thought of an Omega girl… at a bunch of Omega girls all in labor and the babies…. the babies… he couldn\'t let it happen. Morgan had to stop it!

Now! \"Fredo, Mackie\'s baby killed Lila,\" Morgan said carefully.

Fredo snorted. \"I know that,\" he replied with irritation. \"Lila was too weak to have babies, a useless girl. The other girls will not be as weak, Morgan.\"

Morgan recognized Fredo\'s tone, the sense of finality, but he had to tell Fredo the whole truth. Never mind the fact that he might not ever find Mackie, Morgan had to nip this in the bud. \"No, I mean the baby killed Lila,\" Morgan reaffirmed. \"It… ate her to death.\"

Fredo laughed. \"Ate her to death? And how did it do this, Morg?\"

\"I\'m fucking serious, Fredo! Mackie\'s baby had not only drained Lila of most of her blood, it started eating her insides and the baby STILL died of starvation.\"

Fredo nodded but it was obvious he didn\'t believe Morgan. \"So what you\'re telling me is Mackie\'s baby was some kind of parasitic creature? How could Mackie give Lila that kind of baby?\"

Here came the hard part Morgan had been dreading. \"Because Mackie\'s blood is filled with parasitic cells that not only consumed all the red blood cells in his body, they\'ve given him a craving for more.\"

\"More iron?\" Fredo asked.

\"More blood. Mackie almost took mine when we,\" Morgan regained his senses and stopped cold because he and Mackie had been fucking at the time. Instead he amended, \"before he ran.\"

And with those words, Morgan signed Mackie\'s death warrant.
* * *
The nausea was almost instant; Mackie had just enough time to drop the body before falling to his knees and vomiting. It was worse than when he was gakking up food. This was blood. The blood he\'d just taken from the first guy Mackie managed to seduce and kiss just long enough to move his mouth down and bite down into his neck. Blood he could only drink so much of before it came back up again and it still wasn\'t enough.

A few moments later, Mackie had thrown up everything he\'d drunk and even though he knew he\'d only get sick again he was desperate to stop the agony knifing through his veins and the tearing through his guts. Guts he apparently didn\'t have but it killed anyway.

He began to crawl towards the boy\'s unconscious form when a familiar voice jolted him out of his trance.

(Leave you alone for a few minutes and what happens? You get into trouble.) He crouched down next to Mackie and lifted his wrist to his own lips, the sudden scent of blood hitting Mackie like a freight train, making his mouth water involuntarily. (Take,) he said, pressing his dripping wrist to Mackie\'s mouth. (the vache will only make you sick.)

It wasn\'t as if Mackie had a choice, it was either take the offering or starve to death. And Mackie had enough of starving. Like a snake, Mackie\'s tongue flicked over the blood, lapping at it before his mouth latched on and suckled, sweet blood going down smooth as Mackie swallowed.

After a while, the other boy snatched his wrist away and for the first time in weeks, Mackie felt ALIVE. Not sick. His mind was clear and not under that fever haze it\'d been in for a long time. Mackie blinked when he realized that he was right, this was staying down. \"How\'d you,\" Mackie started, \"fix my fucked up body?\"

(I didn\'t fix it, I fed you my own blood which has things yours doesn\'t. Breaks down the meal so you don\'t get super sick like you did with that guy. Don\'t get used to it though, I\'m not gonna do it again, get me?)

Mackie glared at him. \"How can I get you when I don\'t fucking understand you or Angelo?\"

Dimitri laughed, the wound on his wrist already starting to heal. (Don\'t worry, you will soon enough, munga.)He reached over towards the nearly dead body and slid one hand underneath the chin, placing the other on the top of the head. Then Dimitri wrenched the head upwards with a snarl and snapped Mackie\'s first victim\'s neck. (You will or you\'ll die.)

If you want more, let me know. ^_^
