Chapter 4: The Calm before the Storm
Amaya woke with a start. She brushed one of her shaking hands over her brow and wiped the cold sweat away. Looking around her room quickly, Amaya sighed in relief. Then her phone rings bringing her out of her thoughts.
\" H-hello….\" Amaya stuttered while answering her phone.
\" Amaya, it\'s Phobias……Are you okay?\"
\" Yes, I\'m fine….I just had a nightmare.\"
\" Some of my men found a body……\"
\" Female, pretty, blonde hair…..A group of vampires attacked her. The lead vampire was named Deenar.\" Amaya interrupted.
\" Yeah, that\'s right….how did….never mind……ya dreamt about it didn\'t you?\"
\" Yeah, I did….. I think this Deenar is after me.\"
\" Duh! I could\'ve told you that….\" Phobias retorted, then continued, \" Some of my men are on their way to your house to protect you…….Don\'t let any vampires in.\" Phobias finished hanging up not letting Amaya say anymore.
\"Peachy……\" Amaya grumbled falling back onto her big, fluffy, pillows……
In the forest……
Lin walked through her dark forest to her home. She\'d been waiting to here from Magdalen and was surprised that her old friend had not told her decent anything of what\'s going on. Frowning at the thought of Amaya having to find out the hard way displeased her greatly. Though Magdalen had a point. Amaya probably wouldn\'t believe her anyway.
\' Magdalen, I hope you know what your doing…\' Lin sighed deeply knowing full well that Magdalen heard the thought.
\' Don\'t worry, Elf, I know what I\'m doing.\' Magdalen\'s voice whispered in her mind.
Cutting the mind link Lin stopped suddenly and growled, \" Julius, you foolish demon, I know you\'re there.\" Turning to face the hansom, Japanese, black dog-demon.
\" My dear, Lin, remember I\'m Lord Julius. I\'ve heard Magdalen is back and I wish to offer my assistance. The Lord Xeraneed will arrive in two days along with the other lords: Hiro, Kagesuke, Casden, and Romulus. The warrior maiden, Lise, is coming as well. We\'ve all made a treaty for the sake of Amaya and her blood-line.\" Julius said calmly, his silvery gray gaze never leaving Lin\'s forest green.
\" What else are you here for?\" Lin asked as her throat felt suddenly dry.
\" Lin Minamo, you and I have known each other sense we\'ve been children competing in the academy for the head of class….I have come to find myself fallen in love with you….I know you may not hold the same feelings for me, but I wanted you to know that no matter what I will be there when you need me…\" Julius\'s gentle, yet deep, rumbling voice held his undying devotion and honesty.
\" Julius…..I thought that you and Marian were going to be mates…\" Lin stuttered in surprise.
Julius laughed softly and confessed, \" She was never my type.\"
Lin felt the heat of her embarrassment rise to her cheeks, \" You could\'ve told me sooner.\"
Julius smiled and hugged Lin lovingly, \" I didn\'t know if you\'d except me.\"
\" You\'re an idiot, Julius, of course I would\'ve and I will now. All you need to is ask.\" Lin hugged back snuggling against his broad, and well defined chest.
\" Then, will you, Lin, be my mate for life?\"
\" Yes…..I will…\" Lin smiled and Julius lifted her face upwards gently and kissed her passionately……
