How it all began
Yes, after 2 years there is finally an update. Took me long enough to finally figure out a way to continue this story. So, let me know what you think of it.
This chapter will be kind of a look into the past to explain a little more about Misha and his way to get into Yuna’s dreams.
Chapter 4
When Misha got home he sat on his bed with a smirk on his face. When he saw Yuna entering the club he had to tease her a little. As he saw her friend going to meet some other people he took his chance. He had slipped his arm around her, pulling her close and whispered in her ear: “You look even sexier in real life then you do in our dreams.” He wished he could have seen her face, she must have looked shocked. But it also made him wonder if he was handling this the right way. He was supposed to win her over, but his current way might work totally wrong.
As a boy of 15 he had been told of the legend and heritage of his family. A week before his sixteenth birthday his father had called him into his study.
“Misha, can you come sit with me for a few minutes? There is something I have to tell you”
Curiously, Misha had entered his fathers study.
“Next week you will turn 16, that is why I’ve called you here. In a few minutes I will take you to your grandmother, she will tell you everything you need to know.”
Misha got a little scared. Having to meet his grandmother wasn’t exactly something to look forward to. His grandmother wasn’t a sweet old lady who gave you a band aid and a kiss if you came to her after you’d fallen and hurt you knees. She was more likely to call you a brat who didn’t watch where he was going and that he got what he deserved for hurting his knees.
Grandmother was the type of person who never let a moment pass to tell you, you weren’t doing things right, that you had to be more polite, telling you to sit up straight and not embarrass your parents by slouching.
“Why do I have to go see grandmother? I don’t like her”
“Don’t let her hear that, you know how mad she can get over things like that. Today you will have to see her, as head of the family it is her job to tell you of what you will gain when you turn 16”
Misha was really curious now. “Gain? What am I going to gain? Is it something good? Is it lots of money?”
Misha’s father laughed. “You’ll just have to listen to grandmother to find out. I believe it is time to visit her now.”
As Misha and his father walked through the halls of their house Misha wondered what he would gain. Maybe he would get magic powers that could make him fly! No, that sounded stupid, but what could it be? As he was thinking he didn’t notice they had reached his grandmother’s quarters.
“Here we are, you can go in”
“Aren’t you coming with me?”
“I would like to but your grandmother had requested for you alone. And remember, whatever she says, stay polite, we don’t want you grandmother to get mad because you lost you temper”
“Yes dad” Misha sighed.
When he entered his grandmother’s rooms he didn’t see her at once. Usually she sat in her chair, facing the door so she could see any who came in.
“Grandmother?” Misha asked the room “I am here, like you requested”
“Sit down at the table child” a voice called from one of the other rooms “I will be right there”
Misha walked over to the table and wondered why has grandmother had sounded so friendly. She normally didn’t sound like that.
As he sat down his grandmother entered the room, supporting herself with her wooden cane. Before Misha could open his mouth to offer her to help her to the table she was already commenting on him for not offering her any help. “Why are you still sitting there? Get of you lazy butt and help me to the table will you.” Misha got up with a sigh and went to help his grandmother. The little hope he had that she might have actually gotten a bit friendlier had just disappeared.
“So, you are going to turn 16 next week”
“Yes Grandmother”
“Well, that means it is time for me to tell you about the legend of our family.”
Centuries ago, our ancestors lived on these lands. They where virtuous, hard working and tried to make the best of their lives. Untill the dark day that you ancestor Nema was born. As a child he was a good boy and did as his parents wanted of him. But as he grew older he grew more violent. He would hurt people and animals for no reason and destroy property of others for his own amusement. His parents tried to reason with him and often asked him why he did the things he did. His usual reply was: “Because it’s fun”
With age Nema also gained strength, making it harder to control him. He grew even stronger then his father. For every hurt he did his parents apologized. Even though they could have sent him away they could not bear it, for he was their only son. His mother prayed to the gods every day to make her son see the error of his ways.
One day Nema was out, waking the sheep they had to a nearby well to let them drink. He didn’t like having to watch the sheep but since his mother had asked him he felt he had to. After a good 2 hour walk he reached the well and started to pull up water for the sheep. It was hard work and Nema decided to draw no more then the sheep needed. The next person watching them would probably give them more then they needed anyway, thereby compensating what he gave them now. After drawing up the last bucked he sat down under a tree to take a little nap. The sheep would mind themselves.
Two hours later he was awoken by the sound of splashing water. As he looked at the well he saw a girl a few years younger pulling up water for her sheep. As he got up he noticed that his sheep and hers where mingling. There was no way to tell which sheep belonged to who.
“What do you think you are doing!” Nema yelled at the girl.
Startled by his harsh words the girl dropped the bucket, spilling water over herself and the sheep around her.
“What do you mean? I am watering my sheep”
“Yeah right, and trying to steel some of mine at the same time, right, having yours mingle with mine so we can’t tell them apart anymore. You are probably trying to steel my good sheep as you leave you sickly ones with me.”
“How… How can you say such a thing! I would never do anything like that. I will let you take the sheep that you claim are yours so you can be sure you will have no sickly sheep in your flock.”
Nema walked up to the girl, pushing her with her legs against the wall of the well. “How come you are so forward in letting me pick the sheep? You’ve probably already taking all the good sheep out and have hidden them somewhere.”
The girl looked up at him but didn’t say anything.
This made Nema so angry that he took her by the shoulders and shook her. As he let go of her shoulders she wobbled on her feel and could not maintain her balance. She tried to steady herself by stepping back but hit the wall of the well instead. She tripped backwards and fell into the well. It all happened so fast that Nema had no time to react at all. Before he knew it she had fallen down the well. As he peered into the well he could see her body laying on the bottom. Her neck looked odd and Nema realised it was broken. He sat down besides the well and started to cry. Because of his rude behaviour she was now dead. She had never done anything to him, even he knew his accusations about the sheep where all made up.
As he sat there a voice suddenly spoke to him.
“You have no respect at all, for anything around you. You have once again shown us that there is no love in your soul”
“Who are you, who is this speaking to me?”
“We are the gods watching over this land and it’s people. We sent this girl to you in hopes that she could change your ways. Her heart was pure and with that she could have made you see the error of your ways. But instead of loving her you have plainly killed her! This shows us there is truly no love in your heart. As punishment we shall curse your family. From this day on, every son born to this family will gain the power to search the dreams to find the one he is destined to spend his life with. On his 16th birthday a name shall be told to him, that will be the name of the one he is searching for. When he finds her and marries her this curse will be broken. But she must marry him out of love, her love will show that you are capable of loving.
Failing to find her before the age of 30 will result in marriage to a woman we choose.
With these words Nema was left alone. He returned the body of the young woman to her family and spent his life working for her family, trying to repay her death. He lived his life as a virtuous man and later married. The first son born to their family did not seem to have the dreamseeking powers the gods had spoken of but a week before the boy turned 16 the village mystic had a vision. She spoke to Nema and told him a name that he would have to tell to his son. From that day the first son was told of the curse and was told his destiny. As the years passed the family learned that failing resulted in horrible marriages. From lifelong fights to divorce after divorce, a man who had failed never gained a happier life.
“And now, it is your turn” his grandmother said.
“But what if you just don’t marry and have no children?” Misha asked.
“Many have tried but somehow it does not seem to be able not to marry. A man who has vowed to never marry will one day find himself with a wife and a son.”
“And how am I supposed to find her? Can I control my dreams now or something?”
“When you fall asleep it will be like opening a book with pages filled with only the name of the one you are destined to. Each name will enable you to visit the dream of that woman when she sleeps. If you find her you will know that she is the one”
“But how will I know exactly? Does a bell go off or something?”
“You will know when you see her, I can not tell you more”
Misha sat there thinking about it all. “Do I have to search for her?”
His grandmother looked at him disapproving. “You don’t have to, we can not make you look for her, but for the sake of the family we urge you to try”
“What is my name grandmother?”
“Yuna”
Now, 12 years later, he had found her. But finding her was not the hardest thing he had learned. Many before him had also found the woman destined for them but had never been able to marry her. Making a woman love you was not an easy task. What was he going to do to win over her heart?
This chapter will be kind of a look into the past to explain a little more about Misha and his way to get into Yuna’s dreams.
