Chapter 4
Over the weeks, Yun Ho and his schmaltzy girlfriend spent more and more time together than we did. And though I knew that it would somehow end up that way, that time will come when we'd have to split and meet new acquaintances, I have to admit I wasn't expecting that it'd be too soon"¦
"Yun Ho!" I called out to him at the hall of our school, about 5 months since they started dating. "Can you come with me later at the computer shop? I need to have my CPU checked."
"Oh, um"¦ Boo Jae, She-jin and I have made plans already"¦ hmm"¦ maybe some other time??" this he said while fixing the stuffs in his backpack and not entirely looking at me. Just as he finished zipping up his bag, his girl appeared and slid her arms around his waist.
"Hey baby!! You ready yet??"
His mere reply was to give her a huge smile and bite his lips before giving her a peck on the cheek. "So Boo Jae, see you tomorrow, I guess"¦" and with that, they strode away, still in that intimate position like some Siamese twins that can't be parted.
It hurt a little too much that I felt my nose turn acid"¦ What's worse was the fact that just before they made a turn toward the door, his eternally made-up girlfriend took a last glance at me, with her almost evil grin, as if taunting me, declaring that Yun Ho was hers.
And that act seriously caught me by surprise that I was nailed to the spot where I first approached Yun Ho, standing still amidst a swarm of students excited to get home. My breathing was heavy, my fists were clenched. And though I desired nothing more than his happiness, I just had this intuition that he didn't deserve that girl, no matter how "trophy" she was"¦
Since then, I vowed to find out everything I could about She-jin, that popular Dramatics actor and school gymnast. I dug up facts acts both noble and otherwise, not to destroy her in front of Yun Ho but to prove that she's a good for nothing ###### who was not deserving of my best friend"¦
Since I worked for the school paper, I had access to all the files and gossips about the popular people in the campus and it was always a wonder to me why that girl regularly hung out around our newsroom when she wasn't busy showering Yun Ho with kisses.
As if fate was on my side, I stumbled upon this piece of paper which fell off our editor-in-chief's desk. Naturally, I am not nosy but something within murmured for me to pick it up. You could just imagine my delight when I realized that it was a letter by our dear She-jin to our EIC. I was right. She was cheating behind his back, afterall"¦
