Chapter 3

Gabby heard Jason call for her so she turned around with a scowl on her face. “What, Jason What do you want?” She hissed as he caught up to her.

“What’s wrong with you?” Jason asked softly.

Gabby looked down and sighed, “Jason, you need to see me more than some 16 year old you take to school, I came with you here as your... friend, but you still see me as Gabby Feathers a little Brit chippie that you haul to school, don’t you?”

“Gab-” Jason started.

“Don’t you?” Tears started flowing from her eyes. “I don’t know many people here, just my aunt uncle, his wife and daughter, you, Audra and Jade, that’s it, well Kris and Jeff, but they don’t count,”

“Gabby, be quiet for a minute,” Jason grabbed her arm and pulled her to him, his mouth capturing hers in a heated kiss. He backed up a little releasing her mouth.

“Wha-what was that for?” Gabby touched her lips softly.

“It was something long overdue.” Jason smiled then leaned his head in for another kiss. He pulled back slow“I’m“I’m sorry if I had hurt you,”

“No, I- I just get jealous easy,” Gabby blushed then pulled him down for another kiss, but this time an open mouth kiss. She put her arms loosely around his neck, She then stood on her tip toes so he didn’t have to bend over so far. Even though it wasn’t that much of a height difference between them. She just felt the need to.

Gabby walked in her uncles house, just a little past midnight, beaming inside. She went right to her room and fell asleep in her clothes.

The wind was howling, the trees looked as if they were trying to do the limbo, rain poured out of the sky like the sky was a faucet, the thunder was ear deafening and the lightning spread a zig zag shape across the sky. “Daddy, where are you going? And where is Mamma?” A little girl with chin length blond hair asked her big blue eyes in wonder.

The tall blond male turned to his daughter a soft smile on his face as a tear rolled down his cheek, “I’m going to war, your mother is in heaven so you need to call your aunt Sarah to come get you.” The man gave his daughter a hug then abruptly stood tall,can can not stay, I will endanger you dear, just remember Daddy will always love you.”

The girl of about 8 years old did not understand why her father would leave her alone on such a night. She closed the door and ran to her phone as thunder was heard. When she picked up the phone there was no sound at all. She tried to dial numbers but to no avail. “Daddy!” She cried out. She didn’t want to be alone in the storm. “Mamma? Where are you? How far away is Heaven I might be able to walk there?” soon the girl fell asleep. But was once again woken by a gun shot, she crawled under her dining room table and started rocking back and forth. “Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world, red and yellow, black and white, they are precious to his sight, Jesus loves the children of the world,” She sang over and over again as tears streamed down her face.

Gabby sat straight up in bed sweat beading her face and chest. “Not again,” She got out of bed and quietly walked down the hall to her uncle and Nikki’s room. She opened the door slowly and whispered, “Uncle Robert…”

“Hnn… Gabby?” Robert sat up and turned his night lamp on. “What is it?”

“I had that dream again…” Gabby sobbed out.

Robert got a worried look on his face, “Are you ok?”

“Do you have any more sleeping pills like you used to give me?” Gabby asked.

“Yes I do, in the bathroom, in the medicine cabinet, they are in the green bottle,” Robert said, “Would you like me to stay up with you like the old times?”

“No it is ok, you have work tomorrow, it is fine…” Gabby turned on her heel and headed into her bathroom. She looked at herself in the bathroom mirror and sighed, “I look like shit” She opened the medicine cabinet and grabbed the green bottle, “How bout I take a handful…” She whispered as she dumped the contents of the bottle in to her hand. I know, I may never wake up again, but these dreams need to stop, this is the only way I can think of stopping them… Wait I need to tell every one why… She kept the pills in her hand as she walked to the kitchen and grabbed a pen and piece of paper then started to write. To every one who I love and loves me, If you are reading this now there is a big chance I could be dead, I’m sorry for over doing it on the sleeping pills, but the memories need to stop! I know it is stupid stopping them this way, bu is is the only way I can think of, Jade… Audra…and Jason… I love you three more than life it self… Aunt Sarah, I’m sorry… Uncle Robert don’t blame your self, Nikki and Hydra… Take care I love you all so much… I’m sorry Jason… Love, Gabby…

Gabby got a glass of water and put all the pills that were in her hand, in her mouth then swallowed. “Good-bye,” Just then lightning flashed and She saw Jason outside the window, the look on his face was pure horror.

“GABBY!” He ran inside just as Gabby fell to the ground.

“What the hell is going on out here?” Robert ran out of his room only in his boxers. He saw the note left on the table. “Jesus Christ, Gabby!!!!”

Nikki was the next to come out, “What’s going on- Oh god, I’ll dial 911”

Gabby felt the pull of sleep that the sleeping pills had caused, “I’m sorry, I don’t want to remember that day… anymore…” She was finding harder and harder to breath. Gabby looked at Jason as he held her in his arms.

“Mamma, Papa what’s every one yelling about?” Hydra walked out of her room rubbing sleep from her eyes, “Gabby? Are you ok? Did you get a boo-boo?”

Gabby looked from Jason to Hydra then started to cry, “Come here Hydra, lay down here with Gab-Gab” Gabby sobbed out.

“It’ll be ok, Gabby Boo-boo’s will heal in time, You’ll be ok then we can braid each other’s hair…” Hydra smiled as she sat beside Gabby and laid her head on Gabby’s chest.

Gabby felt herself smile, but then every thing went black.

No one, nothing, black all black, “Gabby, come sit on the porch here with mommy,” Gabby’s mother’s face appeared.

Giggling sounds were heard, Gabby turned around and saw herself at the age of two, trying her best to run to her mother. “Mamma!” The two year old gabby sat on her mother’s lap as her father had come home. “Da Da!” The younger Gabby reached her arms out to her father.

“Ohh it’s my big girl,” He had said with a smile.

Gabby watched her old memory like it was a movie, she wanted to cry but couldn’t Why can’t I cry? Every thing got dark again. Then she heard Jason’s voice, but couldn’t make out what he was saying. Am I dead? Gabby walked aimlessly or she thought she was walking she couldn’t see any thing not even her hands in front of her face. “Why did I do this? I want to live! EVERY ONE CAN YOU HEAR ME I WANT TO LIVE! GOD PLEASE SPARE ME! I WILL NEVER DO THIS AGAIN PLEASE GOD HELP ME!” Gabby screamed. Then flashes of her past memories with her Mother and Father surrounded her, Then ones when she first moved to America and met Jade in the park, then Audra at school, then Jason when he first started driving her bus just the past year ago, all her memories that lead up until her Over Dose zipped right by her. “ARE YOU DENYING MY REQUEST GOD? ARE YOU LETTING ME DIE?”

The two days Gabby had been engulfed in sleep proved to be two restless days for her uncle and Jason. Robert suddenly spoke out, “It may be a possibility that this is my fault, maybe she should not accompany me to London.”

Jason lifted a brow, “Why do you say that? Do not blame your self.” Jason then sat down on one of the hospitals uncomfortable chairs in the lobby, “Maybe you should ask what she wants.”

Robert nodded as a nurse has come into the lobby, “Gabby has awoken, one of you can go see her,” The nurse has said with a fake smile.

Jason knew that Robert wanted to see his niece, “Hurry, you know how she hates to wait.” Jason smiled when Robert agreed and headed towards the elevator. He sat back in the chair and looked at the ceiling. What had caused this turn in you Gabby? Jason had never known her to take such hazards on anything. He knew that her pain from losing both parents in one night had damaged her, she had taken up to drinking when she was 15 to forget the pain, but that was as far as she had went. He found himself wanting to know the answers more and more with each passing moment, but he knew that he wouldn’t ever get them unless she had told him with out his asking her to.

Robert entered Gabby’s hospital room and smiled when he had seen that she was not hooked up to any machines. “Hey champ, you gave me quite a scare you know that right?”

Gabby looked at her uncle tears in her eyes, “I’m sorry, I just wanted to get rid of the images that were mocking me, and I don’t want to see that shrink again.” She sobbed out.

Robert quickly took his niece in his arms to a loving embrace, “I know, I know sweetie, but you have to remember I deal with the images as well,” He whispered softly in her ear. “I wont make you see the shrink again I promise, but next time you feel like you cant stand the memories anymore come to me, day or night, and I will listen ok? I love you dearly I don’t know what I would do if I were to lose you as well.”

Gabby nodded as she hugged her Uncle back. Her eyes were swelled in tears and red from wiping them away. “I thought I was gone, I seriously thought that I had killed myself, when I looked at Hydra I wished I hadn’t done it, I wished so hard that I could travel back in time.” She sobbed out, “I don’t know how I will ever be able to face her again,”

“You can do it Gab I know you can, I assure you Hydra thinks no less of you,” Robert kissed her forehead, “Would you like me to send Jason in?”

Gabby instantly looked up, “Jason is here?”

“He has been here the whole time, you gave him quite a scare as well,” Robert chuckled.

Gabby fiddled with her blanket then smiled, “That would be nice, yes please send him in.”

Jason watched the news as he awaited Robert to come to get him. He had realized that he wasn’t paying any attention at all to the reporters as much he was to his surroundings. The nurses would gossip about who their patients were and what had happened to them, then there was the tapping of fingers on keyboa and and the automatic sliding door that lead into the ER. He could barley wait to see Gabby. That’s when he felt a hand on his shoulder. He turned around and saw Robert. “Is she ok?”

“Yes, she said she wanted you to come to her now.” Robert looked actually happy, and he had a real smile on his face. “Go on…”

Jason nodded then stood up and started walking to the elevators, then turned to face Robert, “I’ll come to get you when I’m done,”

“No need I am going home to get some sleep, you can stay as long as you want.” Robert called back as he headed to the door to leave.

Jason smiled lightly as he got on the Elevator. He leaned against the elevator wall. I’m finally going to be able to see Gabby. The elevator stopped and He stepped out. He walked to room 34d and saw Gabby sitting up watching TV. “Hey there Gabby,”

Gabby turned her T.V off and smiled at Jason. “I’m sorry I scared you like that,”

“It’s ok Gabby, don’t worry about it.” Jason ove over to her and hugged her tightly. “Just don’t ever do it again.”

Gabby let out a soft sob against his chest. “I promise I won’t ever do it again. I was just panicked.”

“Gabby, it’s ok, I know why you did it, your Uncle told me every thing. I won’t ever let something like that happen to you again, as long as you’re in my life!” He kissed her forehead.

Gabby sniffled and smiled, “Are you considering me in your life?”

Jason nodded, “Yes, you are in my life, aot jot just the British chippie that rides my bus, as a friend, even more.”
