Chapter 4

They were in the councilor’s tent.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> Devlen and Loki were once again sitting in
between Squid and Zigzag. Not that they
minded. According to their
conversation, they were quite enjoying it.

[They’re both cute aren’t they brother?]style="mso-spacerun: yes"> Loki asked.

[Oh yes, but I dare say that we each think one is cuter
than the other, huh Loki?] Devlen grinned as he looked at his brother.

[You know me all too well Dev. I wonder what their real names are.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> Calling out ‘Zigzag’ during sex isn’t really
appealing. It’s so…impersonal.]

Devlen glanced past his brother to Zigzag and then smiled
big. [You sound so sure of yourself
Loki…] He looked to his left at Squid.
[But I understand.]

It was lights out.
All of D-Tent was asleep in their cots.
All but two that is. Devlen and
Loki were still awake; mind speaking to each other. They had pushed the two cots together and were lying on their
sides holding hands.

[I miss dad and Rick.]

[Me too Loki.] He
sighed. [I wonder how Rick is holding up
without dad there.] He paused.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> [Do you think…we might have made a mistake
going after that guy?]

[No. The only
mistake was getting caught. I think it
was someone on the inside.]

[Maybe…but by getting caught…we left Rick alone.]

Don’t worry Devlen.
Tomorrow we will write Rick a letter to see how he’s doing.]

The horn sounded at five in the morning.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> D-Tent woke to see Devlen and Loki sitting
on the two cots pushed together, already dressed in their orange jumpsuits with
their tanks. They had wrapped the arms around their waists again.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> Their long hair was tied in a bun and they
had white bandanas on.

Squid spoke first, “How long have you two been awake?”

“Since four.” Devlen answered while he watched him dress.

“Why did you get up so early?” Magnet asked while he
dressed.

The twins tilted their heads and smiled, “This isn’t
early for us Magnet.” Loki answered.

“Well lets go then.” Caveman said as he got up and walked
out. The others followed.

I’m back! Myrtle Beach was a
bust in the beginning because it was raining the first three days and then on
