New Girl

Zed POV:

As I got home to my bare little apartment, I threw myself down on my bed, and dreamt.

When I awoke, I could not, for the life of my, ecall what I had dreamt. I remember somehing about a shattering bottle, and shards of glass, but that was all.

I rose from my uncomfortable matress shakily, sore from the night of thrashing about in my sleep. I dressed in my usual attire, a simple black shirt, matching black pants and a black trenchcoat. I got in my crap-ass car, not bothering to lock my apartment, because the only thing in it was my bed, and drove to the hospital, hoping to god the piece of shit car didn\'t break down. Not that it hadn\'t before.

I end thd the hospital and looked around for a nurse. I saw one approaching me and asked her \"Uh... \'scuse me, miss, do you know where i can find Damien Katre?\" She asked a few questions, then pointed me to where he was.

I entered his room to find that Ezra was already there, and Demon was not in the bed. He was walking around, and a nurse kept telling him to lay back down, and couldn\'t help but laugh at the look on the nurses face. Demon hadn\'t even been changed out of his clothes, and I could see that he still had all his piercings in. At least the visible ones. I knew there were at least six others in various places. I chuckled lightly at the thought.

The nurse finally noticed me sitting there with a grin on my face, and told me to sit. I raised an eyebrow at the obvious command. *Jeez, Demon sure knows how to piss people off* I silently thought to myself, though I made no move to obey.

The nurse shifted her attention back to Demon, who was just glaring at her silently, and told him to lay down. He simply stood there, and gave her his patented \"I\'m gonna fuckin\' kill you\" glare. I looked over at Ezra to see the usual shit-eating grin on his face. I rolled my eyes and decided it was time to intervene, before someone, namely the nurse, got hurt.

\"For Christ\'s sake, Demon, just sit the fuck down, will ya? I don\'t wanna stand here all day.\"

Demon glared at me briefly, then sat the fuck down. As always, i was the only person in the whole goddamn world that Demon took orders from.

After the nurse had left, I asked Demon if he was okay, already knowing the answer. Demon\'s ability to heal was more amazing than even his size.

\"I\'m a little banged up, but none the worse for wear.\" The bandage around his chest was already lying in the corner, and the wound was only a faint scar now. \"The doc said I\'d be able to go home by tomorrow.\"

\"Tha\'s good to hear, Demon. I expect you in no less than top form when you come back to work.\" I meant every word of it. I didn\'t let my bouncers work if they weren\'t up to it. \"And try to be more careful in fights from now on.\" The whole statement sounded fucking stupid the second it was out of my mouth.

\"Well, I gotta go guys.\" Ezra said, already out the door when I turned around to say goodbye.

I sighed and turned to Demon \"That makes two of us. I gotta get to the bar. It is Saturday, after all, and I need to open early. I\'le yoe you in a few days.\" I walked out without waiting for a reply, and saw, of all people, Jase, walking towards Demon\'s room.

Jase POV:

I didn\'t really know why I was here, mostly because I didn\'t really have anyplace else to go. I had wandered aimlessly for a while, and when I ended up here I realized that I had been subconciously aiming for the hospital. I walked through the halls, avoiding the curious glances shot my way. I somehow ended up in Demon\'s room, wondering what to say.

Ze had just left, and I had run into him in the hall, though he didn\'t say anything. I realized that they all thought I was a mute, because I was so quiet, but I really just don\'t like to talk that much. I wondered how ling I had been standing in this little white room when Demon broke the silence by voicing my thoughts.

\"are are you here Jase?\"

\"...........\" when I didn\'t answer, he pressed, as if trying to just get me to speak.

\"Well?\" I gave the only response I really could.

\"I don\'t really know. I guess that I wanted to see how you were. I really should\'ve tried to protect you in that brawl.\" *Ha! Me, protect him? How?* the thought of me protecting him was inane, at best. I\'m a foot and a half shorter, for christ\'s sake!

He raised an eyebrow, his thoughts obviously reflecting my own. \"Uh... Jase, I really don\'t think you coulda done anything.\"

\"Yeah, yer probably right. I was half way across the room.\" *Not to mention, swinging a baseball bat* I thought to myself.

\"...................\"

\"...................\" *Bit quiet in here...* I ran my fingers through my long black hair.

\"...................\"
sil silence was choking me, I had to get out of that room. \"Uh, I gotta go. See ya after you get out.\" I walked out of the hospital quickly, and realized I was going to ate ate for work.

*Shit! Zed\'ll kill me if I\'m late!* I ran to the bar as fast as my feet would carry me *Damn good thing I work out all the fucking time!* I arrived quite breathless and let Zed know I was there before taking my usual post at the door.

*****************************************************************************************

Crimson POV:

I arrived at the bar still thinking about the events that had transpired at home last night. I felt guilty that I had not visited Demon, but I had a reasonable excuse. Not that I needed one. I saw that Jase was at his usual place at the door, but he seemed to be very breathless and hot.

\"Been thinking about me, Jase?\" I teased lightheartedly.

He rolled his eyes as he watched me go inside.

Zed was at the bar, but Ezra was not there. Not that I was surprised. I always got there before him.

I sat at the bar and had a glass of wine. When I saw a woman walk in, and turned to see her fully, and almost dropped my glass at the sight.

She had the most gorgeous long blonde hair, that went down past her shoulderblades, and her dark brown eyes were enchanting. Her body I could only describe as angelic, she was wearing a tight black shirt, loose black pants, and black boots to match. There was more detail, but I realized that I was staring and tore my eyes away, looking instead into my drink. I hoped Zed hadn\'t caught me looking at her. In this city, which was, of course, widely homophobic, you coiuld lose your job for being gay. I hadn\'t asked my co-workers about their opinions on homosexual relationships, though I was starting to think Ezra was gay...

I decided that I would ask them first chance got.

Meanwhile, the woman had saxt txt to me and ordered a drink. I so wanted to run away. I couldn\'t stop glancing at her occasionally, wondering if she was looking back. I was so nervous. I hoped Ze didn\'t notice.

Then Ezra provided a much needed distraction by racously entering, ranting about how traffic was hell at this hour. He went up the stairs, as usual, and left us all staring at the stairs.

\"Is he always like that?\" I heard a voice to my left, and turned round to see the blonde angel was the owner of the voice.

\"No, just most of the time.\" I answered immediately.

\"My name\'s Jenn.\" She said to me \"And yours?\"

\"Crimson. Nice to meet you.\"

\"So, Crimson, do you work here?\" She inquired.

\"You could say that.\" Zed\'s voice answered.

\"Really?\" she turned to Zed \"Hmm...\" She said thoughtfully. \"Is there any work available?\"

\"Yeah, if you\'re good with numbers.\" Zed replied. I glanced at him curiously.

\"I\'m plenty good with numbers.\" *hmmm, beauty with brains!* I thought to myself.

\"Well, I need someone to manage theentoentory, and keep tabs.\"

\"What\'s the pay?\"

After they had worked out the terms of the job, I sighed in relief. I was finally not going to be the only girl on the staff! Another girl had finally been hired! *not to mention she\'s hot!* Ugh... why did my hormones have to be acting up now?

I then realized that Demon didn\'t know. Unless Jase had snuck off and told him. I decided to go visit him tomorrow. *Yet another thing on my \"to do\" list.* I groaned inwardly, realizing that I would be far to busy. *I guess that Zed will tell him.* Zed had been there earlier, and would undoubtedly be there again tomorrow.
