Mitch walked over and took the thin book from him. It was full of pictures all of them had Akira in them somewhere. It was old but still looked new and there were a few dark spots on the cover. “It belonged to Akira’s mom. It was on her whenever she left without Akira. It was also with her when she died.”

Jett watched him as he sat down on the bed. He knew the older brunette was going to sit far from him. “So you two are related.” It was more of a statement then a question.

“Yeah.”

“Now I see why you turned him down.”

He hung his head and looked at him, “Akira is like a younger brother, the love I feel for him is different. Besides he was getting it all mixed up he didn’t love me he thought he did.” He sighed and rubbed his head. “Damn it. I was still hoping I didn’t have to tell you till later.”

His eye twitched and Jett fought the urge to toss something at him. “I’m going to go call…”

“Don’t leave.”

The black haired male looked at him, “Why should I stay?”

“I’ll tell you everything. Why I became a guard at that place and what happened. I’ll answer all of your questions.”

He looked at him and stood. The older brunette wasn’t looking at him when he moved the chair. It thudded down and he sat in front of him. “I want to know everything.”

Caramel eyes looked up at him and he smiled. “Thanks.”
^^^^

Akira laid back and looked at the knife; it was the same one that Zev had handed to him. It was laying on the desk across from him. He rolled over trying to get some sleep only to sit up, “Damn it why can’t I sleep!” Propping the window open he slipped out and crossed the branch. Once across he dropped onto the walkway and opened the door. He made his way over to the back room.

The easel sat with the still covered painting. His fingers curled in the sheet and he pulled it off. The painting was finished and it was his favorite. It was a painting of a house, a normal house, with a large tree in the front and three kids sitting under the tree. An adult was walking out of the house to the kids and someone was standing in the doorway. He let his fingers brush over the painting and a smile appeared on his face.

“Will this happen or is this just me wanting something?” Glancing over he saw the other painting he’d been working on since he finished this one three days ago. It was half finished and it was a darker theme compared to the one in front of him.

“Wow.” He stiffened and turned around. Zev waved and Akira quickly pushed him out. “H-hey.”

“What are you doing here?”

“I came to see you.”

“You do know what time it is?”

“Yes.”

“Then go…” Zev hugged him and he sighed. The images that flashed through his head told him everything. “Fine, you can stay for awhile.”

They walked out of the room, after Akira covered the paintings, and sat on the couch. He was sitting at one end and Zev had stretched out across the couch, his head rested on Akira’s lap. “I take it you couldn’t sleep.”

“Yeah.” The two sat there.

The wolf’s arms wrapped around Akira’s waist, “I won’t let you lose yourself. I’ll bring you back.”

A smile crossed his face and he moved closer to bury his face against Akira’s stomach. His arms tightened around Akira and he took a deep breath to calm himself down. “Even if it’s a dream, it still felt real. It hurt, I can still see it.”

He grew quiet. What should he say? What should he do? When nothing came to mind his hand moved to touch Zev’s head only to stop for a few seconds. Then he started to run his fingers through Zev’s hair. Just like when Marianela was little and she had nightmares, only this time it was Zev. It was the only thing he could think of to help him relax. His body was still shaking. “You can stay here if you want.”

“Thanks.” Something told him he said the right thing. He smiled and leaned back against the couch, yeah he did the right thing.
^^^^

“Mmmm… warm…” His eyes snapped open and he found Akira curled up next to him. Sky blue eyes watched as Akira slept. That face was soft and relaxed, “How did we get down here?” Then he remembered, Akira had fallen asleep and he had woken him long enough to find the futon. After he had laid it out the slim male had managed to slip out of his shirt and pass out. He smiled and brushed Akira’s hair from his face as he kissed his forehead. Then he whispered something in his ear.

Akira jerked awake and looked around. What was he doing on the floor? “That’s right Zev was here.” He touched his forehead and blinked. The wolf’s coat was in his lap; he picked it up and held it close. “Stupid wolf.” A soft smile crossed his face.

Marianela turned around when Ransom pointed behind her. “Yuki, you’re up!”

“Where’s Zev?”

“He went home.”

“Oh.”

“What is it?”

He held Zev’s coat up, “Forgot his coat.”

Ransom got a sly grin. “Why don’t you go and give it to him?”

Akira grunted and walked over to the chair. As he sat down he replied, “Why the hell should I if he wants his coat he can get it himself.” The blunette laughed and Akira snapped his fingers as he remembered something, “I know what Ransom is.”

That shut him up and the two looked at him, “Huh?”

“She called them Guardians.”

“What’s that?”

“Don’t know, but I do know why you survived that wound.”

Marianela looked at her hands as she remembered that night and then she asked, “How?”

“As long as I live you can’t die.”

Ransom raised one eyebrow and then said, “Well then you sure as hell better not die, cause I want grow old with Maria.”

The blond blushed and Akira smirked, “Well I take it everything is going well.”

“I’ve got to go do the laundry.” She quickly left and Akira turned to Ransom. He stood up and Ransom looked up at him. Looking down at the table he felt a hand drop on his head.

“Hold on to her no matter what. I only trust her life in your hands.” The blunette nodded and Akira ruffled his hair. “Take care of her mutt or I’ll have to mess you up.”

“Really now you think I’d let her get hurt.”

“You know what I mean.” That hand left his head and he waved to Ransom as he walked out of the kitchen. He smiled as he walked up the stairs. ‘Now I hope I can stay around long enough to see the kids.’

He stepped outside and pulled the pack of cigarettes out. Lighting one he took a deep breath and a blew out a stream of smoke. As he sat on the steps Hawk dropped down next to him. “Haven’t seen you in a while.”

“I just came back from seeing Daisuke.” He coughed and she sighed. “You should stop smoking. It could kill you one day.”

He shrugged and looked at her, “Funny every time I go in for the card update they tell me I’m healthy.”

She snorted and then cleared her throat. “Daisuke wants to know if you’re really okay.”

“I’m fine.”

Hawk sighed and got in his face, “He wants to know if your okay, you were in a coma for almost a month.”

“I’m fine. I’m fully healed thanks to Levana.”

“I see.” She moved away and sighed. “Well I’m going to go tell him.”

“Hawk.”

Looking back at him she asked, “What is it?”

His fingers played with the necklace, “Let him know that she’s watching him.”

“Who?”

“He’ll know.” Shrugging, she nodded and floated off. He watched as she disappeared and then he pulled the cig from his mouth. Looking at it he asked no one, “Should I?”

The coat was still in his lap, he pulled it on and smiled. Yeah it was a little big on him and he remembered that night a few days ago when Zev forced him to wear it. It was soft on the inside and surprisingly he was warm. His head was down and he was looking at his feet. He wiggled his toes and tipped his head to the side. Would he be sitting here if he didn’t lose that book?

“Well you look cozy.” A pair of shoes appeared in his line of vision. Looking up he found Mitch looking down at him. He sat down next to him, “So how’s life?”

“At the moment boring.”

“That’s good. Means you won’t get injured.”

“Ransom hasn’t brought any hits for me.”

“I see.”

“And now I’ve been thinking.”

“About?”

“After what I’ve been through… do I really deserve this?” Mitch pulled the cancer stick from his hands and chuckled when the male protested.

“Well let’s see…” He made a show of looking like he was thinking as Akira tried to snatch the cigarette back. His hand dropped on Akira’s head and he held it further away as he started to laugh. “As long as you’re happy you deserve it.”

Akira stopped and looked at him, “How do I know you’re not just pulling that out of your ass.”

“Because I’m not.” He stood up and tossed the cigarette on the ground, then snuffed it out with his shoe. “And you really should stop, you did before.”

He turned away and Mitch pat him on the head. Gray eyes looked down the front pathway to see Jett talking to a guy in a car. “Who’s that?”

“My dad. You remember him right.”

“Oh, it’s been a while.” He rubbed his arm and sighed.

“How’s your back?”

“It’s fine.”

“Can I see your wings?”

“No.” He stood and turned to walk back in the house when he stopped.

“What is it?” The older brunette watched as he turned around.

“Something is here.” Running down the front path he slid to a stop and looked around. It was on the edge of his mind he could sense it but…

Jett appeared in front of him, “Akira?”

“Something…”

“What is it?”

Then it was gone. “It’s gone.”

“What’s gone?”

“I don’t know.” He rubbed his head and growled. “Fuck it felt like… like… damn what was it…”

“Dark… almost dark.” The two looked at the man standing by the car. He smiled and waved to Akira. “Hello, been a while.” Avel smirked and was about to climb into the car when Akira reacted.

“Rouge!”

Something slammed down onto the front of the car and Avel watched as it stood up, “Aw geez how am I going to explain this.”

“Dad get the hell out of there!”

Akira reacted and jumped forward his foot slammed into the back of the rouge. It didn’t even budge as he jumped back. The red wolf looked back at him and he sweated. Something was wrong with this one. Jett moved back and Mitch quickly stepped in front of him, “Go on get in the house.”

“What about…”

“Don’t worry check on the others.”

“Okay.” He ran and the wolf reacted. It tried to go after only Akira jumped in its way and he punched the wolf in the throat. It made a gagging sound and Akira took a fighting stance.

“Your fight is here.”

Avel stood there leaning against the door of the car. “Let me do it.” They looked at him and Mitch shrugged as he grabbed Akira from getting hit.

“Hey!”

“You were injured, so no more. Or I’ll lock you up in safe room.”

“Like you would.”

Mitch dragged Akira away just as there was a loud crack. He watched as Mitch’s father really kicked ass then off to the side he saw it. A person in a black coat with their face covered; in their hands was a metal lantern. A smell drifted to his nose and he blinked, where had he smelt that before? Then the person was gone.

There was a scream and he turned pulling away from Mitch. “Oi! Akira!” Akira slid around the fence and came to a stop there was a small kid on the ground. He had big yellow eyes and hair that was black and white.

“Stop it your hurting my sister!”

Turning he found the wolf in her human form in the air. There was no emotion on Avel’s face, ‘Why is she floating?’

The small child grabbed Akira’s pant leg and started to tug on it. “She’s not a rouge she’s harmless. Please stop it! She is my only family!” There were tears trailing down his face and Akira froze.

“Stop…” A hand reached out and grabbed the person’s leg. “Don’t kill my family… we did nothing wrong…”

“Shut up.”

There was a scream of pain and then it grew quiet. A sob came from behind and turning he looked. “Oh god… please no…” A cross hung from her neck, tears dripped down her cheek. Hands grabbed him and pulled him away from the door just as it opened.

Light flashed through the room and it grew dark. Two red eyes looked down at them. “Hello, Rin.” There was a loud boom and he gripped onto the lady. “He looks just like him.”

“Bastard.”

“Give me the boy.”

“You can’t take him he’s the only thing Daisuke has left!”

“I don’t care.” A hand shot out and grabbed him.

He screamed as the hand pulled him away, “No!”

“Akira.” A hand waved in front of his face. “Akira!” Akira blinked and found Mitch looking at him. “You okay?”

He dropped to his knees and sat hunched over. ‘What was that?’ Something dripped onto his hand and he looked at it. ‘Wet… tears.’ His fingers brushed over his face and he growled. “What is going on!?”

Mitch sighed and shook his head. “Hey you can shout all you want inside, you’re scaring the kid.”

Storm gray eyes looked at him, “One time you said I’d know everything once I’m ready.”

He shook his head, “Heh, not yet.” Standing up he found the small child clinging to the semiconscious woman. ‘You still have a lot more to learn.’ Walking over he looked down. “Okay kid, talk.”

The woman growled and forced herself up, “Leave him alone.” She was slumped over her long red hair fell around her face. Honey colored eyes glared at Mitch.

“Hey dad there’s a blanket in the trunk can you get it?”

“Sure.” He walked off over to the car.

“Well then names first. I’m Mitch and you are?”

“We don’t need your help.”

“Here Mitch.”

He took the blanket and smiled, “Thank you.” Taking the blanket he unfolded it. “Well fine you can sit there in the nude if your want.”

Her eye twitched. “Why the fuck are you looking!?”

“Sorry I’m with someone already. Well let’s cover you up before someone tries to jump you in front of the kid.”

She swatted his hand and the blanket away. “I said no!”

“But sis… I don’t want you to get hurt again.” The small child looked up at her, turning she held her hand out and Mitch grinned. “Tell him thank you.”

“Thank you.” It came out as a grumble and she wrapped it around her shoulders. “Damon you okay?”

“Yep. Is Rossa okay?”

“Yes I’m fine.”

“Okay!” He stood up and grinned. “Let get you some cloths and then we can go home.”

“I could just shift…”

“No.”The determined look in his eyes made her stop, she smiled and nodded.

“Fine.” Picking him up, she turned to Mitch. “Mitch right?”

“Yep, you have any old cloths that I could wear?”

“Sure.” He waved for her to follow. Akira stood up and stopped when a hand was placed on his shoulder.

“It’s good to see you, again.”

“Okay… I’ve got… got to go now.” He walked away his head down; his eyes were filled with confusion and uncertainty. ‘Why?’ He pulled the coat closer around him and gave a soft but sad smile. He was so confused. The door closed behind him.

Avel sighed and shook his head. “Damn he really is your son.” He sat in the car and started it. “Let just hope that seal doesn’t break all the way too soon.”
~~~~
“Wow Rossa looks good.”
“You think?” She turned; she had on a black band shirt that fit her and a pair of baggy pants that hung on her hips. Rossa and Mitch were the same height and it scared him a little to see her able to wear his clothes.
Damon nodded and chirped, “Yep.”
Walking over she rubbed the top of his head as a cat like smile formed on his face. “You’re such a good little kitten.”
“Yeah.” He slid of the bed and tossed his hands in the air. “Let’s go home!”
Mitch watched as the two walked out of the room. His eye didn’t leave the small child. Something about the kid was off.
~~~~

Ransom stood in front of Marianela when the large door slid open. His nails lengthened and he growled. There was a whistle and he dropped his hands to his sides. “Damn it Jett!”

“Sorry, it’s safe.”

“Why the hell did he want us in here?”

He shrugged and walked off, the two followed after him. “Jett what’s going on?”

“There was someone here and Mitch didn’t want them to know about you or Ransom.”

“Oh.”

Akira was sitting at the table when they walked in. “Why would a normal wolf go rouge for no reason?”

Mitch shrugged and bit down on the pencil’s eraser, “I can’t think of anything. Mom might know.” He muttered something and shook his head, “Never mind I’ll find out.”

They watched as he walked out. The door closed and the pencil snapped, ‘Something is behind this.’ His caramel eyes darkened and the broken pencil turned to ash. ‘Damn it.’
