Confusion: A necessary evil
Confusion: A necessary evil
Confusion -- that’s what you get when you write in First Person narrative. It presents it own set of problems and solutions. My favorite “Solution” is that – no, you won’t read about Hades and Liam’s sex life because none of the brotherhood is a part of it. None of the brotherhood wants to hear about it. Therefore, dear gentle Loyal, you don’t get it either. And I don’t have to write about it…unless you read the “The Dessert Cart” which turns into a Liam’s point of view (Big Sigh) or in our dear little prick Hades point of view for going after Claudius.
Back to the problem….confusion by the Loyal.
Case in point, “RENO” of T4BB. OOOh, did I get a lot of lashing over this chapter. Again, as it is in first person narrative you only get what the character is feeling and seeing and/or knows. Walter was drugged out of his gourd. He only had little bits and pieces of memories coming back to him and he clung to them as they were what was important to him. So, you only got what he knew. He knew he was a weretiger. He ‘knew’ he belonged to Daniel. His name was ‘Reno’ but it didn’t feel right so he didn’t respond to it. He was confused and lost and the Loyal were too. So the fact that I was lashed is a good thing! Right? Right!!
I do understand that the Loyal would like to get all the background information but again, until the character receives it from someone or discovers it on his own OR changes into an omnipotent godling –which I won’t rule out for the Brotherhood, cause damn, those boys keep changing! – you will never get the whole picture. Just like real life.
Sucks rocks doesn’t it, but this seems to be the way I write.
So…on with the show.
