New Year's Resolutions

Sorry everyone! Yet another short chapter. To be honest I'm yearning to work on some of my other stories, and this one is being pushed further and further on the backburner. But, I do not want to deprive those who are waiting for it, but if you do not see regular updates it is because I am working on one of four other series I have been writing... forever. I've written, re-written, and re-written again, and these ones are the most important to me, and my mind never wanders far from them. So I apologize in advance that this one will be losing much of its attention, much as My Sister's Innocence and The King's Concubine have. They will all be finished and resolved, I promise, but for the next month or so my updates might be even more sporadic. Many apologies, as always.

Chapter 39 – New Year’s Resolutions

The Kiseki children found themselves grounded for the celebration of the year, minus Tiera. Yuna was grounded for the obvious reason of sleeping with Waza. Yuki was not so upset that her daughter was sexually active, but that her daughter was sexually active, at a Christmas party, full of friends and family. Sora was grounded for quitting on his dream and thinking about going to a community college when he had had a dream for so long to do something else. Link was grounded for driving Bliss to Wisconsin, which the parents had just found out from Yuna as she tried to weasel out of trouble. Tiera, having done nothing wrong that her parents knew of, was allowed to go out and party. However, Tiera found she was not much up for celebrating with her best friend locking herself in her bedroom and not really wanting to celebrate this year.

Shai, Noriko, and Kyoei, tired of their children running amok, decided to be plaintively evil for New Years. Shu, who was moving out at the beginning of January, and Waza, who could not seem to do anything right, were both being sent to spend the celebration with their real father, who had called at just the right time to reveal he was in California.

Darrke and Harmony were confined to the house, for fear they were going to do something stupid, which Harmony was tempted to do. Upon Ashe’s return she wanted to see him so badly she was tempted to climb out her window and go to the Inperiaru household, where Ashe was under house arrest until his court date, where a jury would decide his fate, since he broke one law by faking his own death, and if he needed to shoot Devilin in the leg was still up in the air. Devilin, however, was in jail for admitting he had taken advantage of a fourteen-year-old girl. Ashe was sure he was going to slide through that charge.

Bliss spent New Years with her father up in Wisconsin, the only one that spent it happily. They stayed up late, where she did most of the talking, and they watched the ball drop on channel 7 with Dick Clark. Nakago, though quiet and sullen as usual, seemed happy his daughter was there, and refrained from being too nasty with his comments and came out almost pleasant.

If Rhapsody had not been so clear that she wanted to be left alone, and was pretty much hiding out in her room, Fuji and Amatsu would have sent her away for a few weeks, just to give her space. They were still tempted to let her stay at the hotel for a few weeks where she would be pampered and fed and would have her own space away from them. They did not want Ashe around her, and Ashe definitely wanted to be around her, but Rhapsody refused to see anyone. Fuji was the only one that was allowed in her room, and Fuji looked worried every time she came out.

“What are we going to do?” Amatsu asked of his wife as they laid in bed New Years Eve, a few moments before midnight where they would celebrate like Americans did and kiss at midnight, make loud noises, and hopefully not loud enough to disturb their children.

“I’m not sure yet,” she admitted. “Everything happened too fast.”

“Well, we’ll think of something, we always do,” Amatsu said reassuringly.

“And if we don’t?” Fuji asked, laying her head on his shoulder. “What if this is the one time we can’t think of something?”

Amatsu laughed. “Don’t worry,” he said. “Somehow, somewhere, everything will work out for the best.”

“It hasn’t yet,” Fuji grumbled.
