Little Things written 7/21/11
Little Things and memories
always remind her of him
little ways in which to say
her heart is still in his care.
she has hid a broken smile
a shattered heart
a fallen tear
building a mask around her.
on occasion the perfectness cracks
the human inside showing through
her pain and sorrow becoming
more then she can bear
yearning for the comfort
of someone who truely cares
she balances on the edge of life
trying not to drown in the flood of tears
everyone asks the same old questions
all she says is the same old line
but how can she be fine
when her world is upside down?
all she has are the little things
the remembered promises now broken
the memories of a happier time
the reminder of the shell of who she once was
she is walking her path
alone and without a guiding light
no more hand reaching out to save her
lost and alone in her plight
scrambling in despiration
losing her faith in humanity
can she reassemble herself
from the crumpled mess of life?
So for now she has
little things and memories
to remind her of the past
of better times long missed.
Author notes
Written in dedication to the one person i still care about, who like most others in my life seems to have shoved this one to the side
