Fawnheart: Why do I Yaoi? Let me count the ways…
Q: …Why Yaoi? Your whole universe is so involved and complete in it's detail. It has everything you could ever want in a story, murder, betrayal, angst, romance, the smut (yeah lots of that is always a good thing) but I can't help think that you could be limiting your avenues by specifically making it yaoi. I hope that doesn't come across wrong. I wouldn't have a clue about publishing or anything else for that matter, Im just a wow geek, but seriously, your gear is so good...I can't figure out why it hasn't been snapped up already
I’m sick and twisted and I found a writing style that finally fits my sick and twistedness. Kind of.
Why Yaoi? It’s hot and I have a short attention span. I honestly thought I had AADD – it turned out I was just manic. Haha. Anyways…it has taken me a while to find my “INNER VOICE”. (No, this is a good thing.) I have always gravitated toward the darker toned stories and now that I’ve actually had the time to analyze myself –being unemployed and all – I apparently have a Vampire fetish and a penchant for looking at really hot gay men. I prefer the YAOI side of it as the female interest adds the big “R” to it, (romance).
Yes, I realize that the marketplace isn’t that huge for YAOI but I would rather write what I love. How do I know that I love this genre? I do have older works listed on AFF:
The Black Tower
Kingdom Born
Those were originally written in the early 90’s. I have just recently found my hand written notes for Kingdom Born – complete with maps. Circa 1994. Eep. “The Black Tower” – while it does have homosexual themes, I wrote it in secret and basically was ashamed of it because of the Yaoiness which I toned down greatly based on my state of being that the time of it being written. It took me 10 years to complete that. “Kingdom Born” is a alternate universe where women are the providers. Again, that took about three years to get done.
“Cake” – my first Yaoi Vampire novel was done in three months and is twice as long. “Cinnamon”, “Caramel” and “Clove” were all done in one year. Right now the Lord Emperor Vampire Saga is up to 198 chapters which is roughly 3,928,000 words. Holy crap! And Candy isn’t even half way yet. Apparently the proof is in the pudding and my pudding is freakin' huge!!
I have tried to write mainstream fiction – hell, I have a Harlequin romance piece somewhere – it’s five years old and counting. They pay $10,000 for a novel, but…it just doesn’t work for me.
I’ve found my “VOICE” and it is apparently is a first person narrative of gayboy hottie, who doesn’t know how hot he is, who lives in a world that is populated with demonic bloods. From there, the possibilities are endless…and smutty, very very smutty. Did I tell you I like smut? Well, I do.
Any whoooooo.
Unless I get an epiphany, which I’m not looking forward to, I plan on trekking down the Vampiric/Demonic Yaoii Path for a while.
As for your pub night: I’m as sober as a church mouse. I’ll be the designated driver. HA!
Ja ne.
