collettes three boyfriends

She had another drink.  He wasn't bad company.  There was a riverwalk

nearby.  She suggested they take a stroll to clear their heads.  He

agreed and held her hand.  He laughed a lot, she thought he was a bit

silly actually but very cute.  She wasn't really hung up about how a

guy looked but he had the coolest smile, very mischievous.  Collette

was really in the habit of giving herself to just anyone but she was

finding this guy a bit hard to walk away from.  Meeting people in a

bar was not good but damn.

"I love the way you're dressed, so sexy," he said.  She watched him

light another cigarette and suck the smoke deep into his lungs.  Why

did he have to smoke too?  The smoke had a rather nice odor though,

she wondered about the brand.  It had rained recently and the air was

so clean and the water moved so fast...urgent and powerful.  They

stared at it for a long time.  He zipped his black leather jacket just

a bit.  She stole a glance at the crotch of his jeans.  She giggled

slightly at herself.

"You must be having a good time," he half asked?

"I just like having company tonight...I suppose I've been a little

lonelier than I had realized."

"Are you saying you like me?"

"Maybe," she replied.  Then she put her head against his chest, the

smooth leather was cool but soft.  He stroked her hair and hummed some

obscure song they heard playing in the distance.

"Damn, this is a romantic night..." she stated absently.

  "Perfect for a long kiss...?"

  "Later...maybe."

He smiled, a hint of frustration gleaming from his dark eyes.  They

walked on.

"Oh, lets go in there...they have cookies...peanut butter ones, I love

them!"

They found an empty booth in the back and ordered.  The waitress  hurried

away and returned with cookies and milk.  "Shit, these are good...I smoked

some weed earlier, hope you don't mind if I make a pig of myself."

Collette was about to comment when Billy came strolled in with some random

blond on his arm.  She was pretty, it made her frown.  How damned quickly

he had moved on after she'd dumped him.  She struggled to remember why

she'd dumped  him, something about not returning her calls and not going

with her to her sister's wedding.  The sex had been great though and he

always drove nice cars that he let her borrow whenever.  It hurt her to

recall that she missed him.  James, she thought that was his name, kept

rambling on about nothing.  He had begun to annoy her.

"I'm not feeling well all of a sudden.  I think my period is starting,

I'm going now...thank you for everything."  She left quickly, James

stared after her in amazement.  "Damned bitch," she thought she heard him

mumble but it might have been her imagination.

Collette was still depressed the next morning.  She took a walk and did

a little shopping.  She bought a used CD by some band she'd never even

heard off.  She sat outside a little cafe and sipped a cola and nibbled

some french fries.  A she knew named Will came up and greeted her.  He

asked to sit down and she  said ok.  He was very young and kind of sweet.

"I've never seen you here before," he said.  "Is Billy around somewhere?"

She shrugged and tried to not let the name bug her.  "No, we've gone

our separate ways.  He was always ignoring me, guess he got tired of the

same old pussy,  you know how you guys are...always exploring your options."

She always talked that way around Will.  It was fun to see his face turn

slightly pink.  She wondered if he'd ever really shaved.

"Yeah, Billy never appreciated all the stuff he had going for him."

"Money does that to people," Collette added.

Will sucked in his breath as if trying to screw up some courage.  "I'm

going to see a film, wanna come along.  I'll treat?"

Collette wasn't really in the mood but she had no intention of spending

the evening alone in her little apartment.  That would be unbearable.

"Why not?  Let's go for it."

It wasn't intentional the way her breast brushed against his arm but

it excited her just the same.  She took his arm and they skipped away.

The movie was wonderful.  She hadn't been to a film in months and the

experience was a good one.  Later they went out for drinks and Collette had

a few more than usual.  She was pretty wobbly when she excused herself and

stumbled towards the ladies room.  On the way out she bumped into someone,

it was James...or she though that was his name.  He glared at her but then

smiled.  "Hey kid, hope  you're feeling better..."

"I'm so drunk that I really don't know," she replied.  Her speech was

slightly slurred.  James actually looked concerned.  "Can  you make it home

alright?"  He grabbed her arm to steady her.  She giggled and stole another

peek at his crotch.  Why did she keep doing that she asked herself?

"Do you have a  car? She asked.

"Yes, its a filthy piece of shit but it runs."

"Wonderful, I think I need to take a long ride."

"You're in luck, I just gassed it up."

She told will goodnight, that her friend would drive her home because she

had had a bit to much to drink.  She thanked him and left with James. Maybe

she really was a bitch after all.  At least she had an excuse because she

was drunk.  James wasn't wearing his leather jacket and Jeans.  He was

dressed very differently, in a t shirt and dungarees.  He wore sandals.  It

was to cold to dress like that, maybe he was drunk too.  He had a stubble

on his chin and his hair was a fucking mess.

His car was a rusty piece of shit but she got in anyway.  The sound

system was ok and she asked for one of his cigarettes.  She closed her

eyes and listened to the music.  "Any place in particular you'd like to

visit?" he asked.

"Lets go somewhere remote, somewhere near the beach...I so want to get

away from town, all the phony people and the partying has got me down a

bit tonight."

They drove for about forty minutes in complete silence except for the

music.  She remembered the CD she'd bought and they listened to it also.

It wasn't bad for a random purchase.  She was like that tho when it came

to buying things.  It always had to be something different.  They reached

a little seashore village and stopped for some snacks.  Then they drove

out to a little spot where you could see the ocean.  Something about

this guy and water she wondered to herself.  He smoked and she did too.

He sipped a beer and she had a diet orange drink.  He leaned in close

and embraced her.  They kissed and it was a long one.  She massaged

his thigh and it was pleasingly hard.

He got a blanket out of the trunk and they walked out on the beach.

The air was very still.  He gathered some driftwood and started a fire.

They wrapped themselves in the blanket and fell asleep.

He drove her home the next morning. She felt almost apologetic because

they hadn't had sex.  She thought about Billy some more.  She sort

of felt bad about poor Will.  He didn't really mean anything to her

though.  James didn't say much before dropping her off.  He smiled and

waved before roaring into the morning heat.  Collette shook the sand

out of  her shoes and took a quick shower. She wished she had asked

for another cigarette, what a disgusting habit.  She lay on her couch

in nothing but her panties and hoped against hope that Billy would

call just to ask how she was.
