The Dark

Chapter 35
The Dark

“Daray, you will be the one to rule this world,” Nanaia promised him, over and over again, as if she had seen it in a vision. As far as Daray knew the only Visionary left in all the lands was Orphen’s wife Serena, but for all Daray knew Nanaia had gone to Serena. When asked, if Serena saw, she must answer truthfully, but only when asked by Orphen. Serena would never directly answer anyone else but him, unless she really enjoyed the answer or felt like sharing. Daray could not picture Serena and Nanaia having a pleasant conversation over tea and Serena suddenly babbling about Daray ruling the world. “You will knock that damnable Dralnu off his throne and rule everything.”

Daray watched his prize and smiled. He was The Dark, she was The Light, and they were destined for one another, he could feel it in his bones as he watched her undress for the night, though she could not see him. She would turn to her window and see nothing but darkness, but he was darkness and his eyes were the very glimmer of the blackness that took over from the surrounding forest. He saw her perfectly, her voluptuous figure, so close to Nanaia’s though Nanaia said that Ilona had been identical.

Ilona’s daughter, Eldora, the one he would have one day, though he was too far away at this time to have her. He longed for her, the darkness howled about her for all he wanted over her. She was unaware of it all. She only knew happiness, unlike the rest of them. She did not even have a glimmer of a clue of the prophecy that would bring them all together, especially with the help of Tristan. Eldora only knew that she was loved, that she had been raised to be a queen, and would soon wed one of the three kings. Daray knew he had to keep that from happening.

He encompassed Eldora with his darkness and still her opalescent skin glowed bright in the darkness. Even in utter blackness she was brighter than sunlight, and with the dark sienna hair he had not expected it. Her magic was great and she did not even know how much.

He moved out of her room, the blackness rolling out and she never even suspected her peaceful changing from dress to lingerie had been disturbed.

All the pieces were in place. Now for the true game to begin.

The End... for this part of the game
