Chapter Thirty-Three: Return for Her
--
In the past years she’s lived in Forter, Tonisha never dreamed that she’d someday face Cain’s large estate. She glanced up at it worriedly. It was early morning, and there was a slight fog. Shivering, she wrapped her red shawl closer around her. She was wearing one of her sexy dresses. And it was a big mistake! She was nearly freezing, and she felt like she could transform into an ice statue at any second.
She lifted her hand, and knocked on the golden knockers. She waited only shortly before the door opened. A tall Cretchen stared down at her. He raised a brow, but she merely rolled her eyes.
“I need to see Cain,” she insisted.
“Captain Cain is on solitary hours,” said the Cretchen as if he memorized the words from a scroll. “He’s asked for confinement, and to not be disturbed by anyone.”
Solitary hours? Confinement? Frowning, Tonisha crossed her arms. She would not go down without a fight.
“You tell Cain that I bring urgent news,” she glared. “Tell him Tonisha needs to talk to him immediately. It’s about Edie.”
“Edie?” the Cretchen asked. He thought for a second, then nodded. He stepped aside. “Please come in.”
Surprised, Tonisha accepted the offer. She sighed as warmth hit her skin. She eyed the Cretchen.
“Wait here,” he ordered. He left down the hallway.
Tonisha peered around in awe. The place looked twice as big on the inside. Which didn’t surprise her in the least. She rubbed her hands together, warming them up while she waited. The wait did not seem to take that long. She was thankful for this. The Cretchen soon returned, and ordered her to follow him.
“About time,” she mumbled. She’d keep her attitude up for as long as it took.
Led through hallway after hallway, Tonisha soon was brought up to Cain’s bedroom. The Cretchen opened the door and bowed to her. She walked in.
She looked around. The room was cleaned up nicely. She was impressed. She looked ahead, noticing a large red chair. She recognize that black boot hanging off the side, moving up and down.
“Cain?”
The boot moved behind the chair. Soon, the figure stood and turned around. Cain stood there wearing casual clothing. He wore a brown shirt with pants, and his black boots. His hair was a mess, and he looked exhausted. Tonisha, having never seen the man in such a state before, was more than just shocked. She nearly burst out laughing! But she held her laughter in.
“Is that you?” she teased.
“Very funny,” he whispered. He closed the book he was holding and dropped it onto the cushion of the fancy chair. He moved over to her. “What are you doing here?” He was not glaring, but he was showing a sad face.
“I’m here about Edie,” she said. “I’m not here to -- criticize why you haven’t been around the inn.”
“Excuse me?” Cain gaped. Now, he glared. “And here I assumed you wanted me away, Tonisha? Well, I’ve been staying away. I’ve been cooped up inside for weeks, thinking about -- things --” he paused. Sighing, he looked away. “What about Edie?”
“Well, first of all, she misses you, believe it or not.”
Cain lifted his head. “She -- misses me?”
“Greatly,” Tonisha sighed. “Every day after work, she waits up for you, hoping that you’d walk inside to greet her.. She’s been really depressed these last couple of weeks.”
“Really?” Cain gaped. He was honored -- and he felt guilty even more. He grasped his chest, and he rubbed it. He was almost sure he had a burning sensation. He groaned. “So -- did you come over here just to -- tell me that?”
“No,” Tonisha whispered. “There’s one other thing.”
“Go on,” he said. “And please hurry, I have more reading to catch up on.”
Sighing, Tonisha eyed Cain. Her expression changed. She no longer stared angrily at him. She showed him some concern. And then she told him.
“Cain, Edie’s pregnant.”
She eyed the Captain. His face had gone pale. He blinked as his legs nearly gave out. He managed to keep his back straight, but hearing the news made his stomach grumble loudly.
“Pregnant?” he asked. “She’s…?”
“Yes,” Tonisha continued. “She’s pregnant. And the baby is either yours or Lavan’s.”
“The hunter?” gaped Cain. He growled, having had the feeling that Edie had slept with that smelly man. “I -- I need a drink.”
Groaning, Cain went over to his desk. He grabbed a small bottle of ale. He opened it and poured himself a glass. As he took a large gulp, Tonisha walked over to him. She frowned.
“You really look horrible,” she whispered.
Chuckling, Cain shook his head. “Really? I haven’t noticed.”
“God, Cain, you don’t have to act sarcastic. I meant what I said.”
Nodding, Cain took another drink. He set down the glass. “So -- how did she find out?”
“Tiller came over yesterday evening,” Tonisha whispered. “Edie had -- fainted, and we thought she was sick.”
“She fainted?” Cain gaped. His eyes bulged. “Did she get hurt?”
“No, she’s fine,” Tonisha promised. “She’s taking time off work. You really should -- come and see her. She needs you. I hate admitting that, but -- she truly does.”
“I’ll think about it,” Cain said softly. There was no doubt in his mind, however, about not seeing Edie. He was amazed that she was pregnant. In fact, he wasn’t so sure he bought it. He decided he’d first visit with Tiller, just to make sure the facts were true. He was not keen on Tonisha, currently -- he knew that she now despised him.
He was once used to being despised.
But no longer.
“Just think about it,” Tonisha whispered, then. She went over to the door. “I’ll take my leave, now. Enjoy your book.”
--
The magnificent nude body of a gorgeous blond fell back against a large, quilted bed. Her round, large breasts went flat as she smiled happily up at her lover. Her pinkish nipples were trying hard to poke out around two light areolas. The woman’s curly blond hair stuck to her sweated neck and shoulders. She had dazzling brown eyes. Her glistening, trimmed vagina gained attention by a decent-sized penis.
“God,” the woman groaned. She smiled broadly as her lover came down on her. “Tiller…”
Groaning, the doctor grinned down at his wife. He kissed her passionately on the lips as their bodies rocked against one another. Their bed creaked with them as they made great sex.
Tiller was quite handsome. Though he was an older man, he was in great shape. His muscular chest was covered in graying dark hairs. His hairs trailed down his stomach, curling around his penis, and covering over his small balls.
He shuddered as he pounded his wife. He looked down at her. She looked so beautiful, as always. He was lucky to have a woman like her. He went faster. He placed his face between her large bosom, feeling her breasts flopping about, and hitting his cheeks.
In seconds, he could feel her tightening her vagina. Her moist walls sucked around his penis, causing him to gasp loudly. He picked up his pace, soon releasing inside of her. She joined him, squealing happily as she, too, released.
“Ah!” she beamed. She panted heavily as she stared up at him. “Mm… You’re amazing.”
He kissed her softly. “So are you.”
“I’m glad you think so,” she giggled. “Now get off so I can make us some breakfast.”
Chuckling, Tiller pulled out of her. He moaned as he watched her vagina gush out his seed. He grabbed his clothes, watching her sit up. She used her fingers to spread her vagina wide, and she stared down at it.
“Good God,” she whispered. She eyed him, showing fake suspicion. “You really are the greatest.”
Unfolding his shirt, Tiller shrugged as he put it on. He sighed as his shirt touched against his sticky chest. “You drive me to the brink, Lisa.”
Putting her legs together, Lisa smiled at her husband. Sighing happily, she got to her feet, making her breasts bounce. They sagged some, but were still beautiful and only slightly uneven. She went over to a silky red robe.
It was obvious the two lived in a grand home. Tiller’s been a doctor for over thirty years, and he’s had Lisa as his assistant for just as long. The twos’ business in Forter was well, considering Tiller was the only nearby doctor for miles. The nearest village was small, and if someone needed medical attention, then they’d travel to Forter in order to see Tiller.
Tiller finished dressing. Just as he was tying the string on his shirt, he heard a few abrupt knocks at the front door. Lisa was just getting the silky robe over her arms. She barely covered her breasts as her head lifted, surprised.
“Who could that be?” she wondered.
“Not sure,” Tiller whispered. “You stay here. I’ll go check.”
Leaving his bedroom, Tiller walked down a tiny hall before entering through a wide doorway leading into a wide-spaced living area. He walked over to the front door. Unlocking the door, he cautiously turned the handle and opened the door. Taking a peek, he saw that his early visitor was none other then Captain Cain. Gaping, he opened the door wide, bowing slightly.
“Captain Cain, what brings you to my home?”
“Hello, Tiller,” Cain said, showing that he and Tiller had known each other for a long time. “May I come in?”
“Of course,” Tiller nodded. He stepped aside, allowing the captain to enter. He saw that Cain was alone.
At that time, Lisa came in through the doorway. She was wrapped in her robe. Luckily for her, it wasn’t see-through. Seeing the captain made her smile
“Cain, this is a surprise,” she gleamed. She stood behind Tiller.
“Morning, Lisa,” said Cain. “You are looking as beautiful as ever.”
“Why thank you.“ She deliberately pushed her hair back, taking the compliment as a already claimed fact. She crossed her arms. “Would you like some tea?”
“Oh, no thank you,” Cain shook his head. “I just came to ask Tiller something. Then, I’ll be on my way.”
“Alright,” she smiled. Turning her head, she kissed Tiller on the cheek. “I’ll get our breakfast going.”
Nodding, Tiller watched his wife go off through a backdoor. He turned his attention back on Cain. “Are you feeling under the weather?”
“No, nothing like that,” Cain said. “I wanted to ask about a young woman I know. Her name’s Edie. She works with Tonisha at the inn.”
“Edie?” Tiller nodded. “Yes.”
“I want to know if it’s true,” Cain whispered. “Is she really pregnant? Tonisha told me that you examined her. I don’t want to believe it. I don’t want to believe Tonisha. I -- I guess what I’m saying is that I want to hear a confirmation from you.”
“Is Edie a -- friend of yours?” Tiller asked, sounding interested.
“You could say that,” Cain answered without avoidance. However, he was not in the mood if Tiller happened to press further into his business.
Thankfully, the doctor had not. He gave Cain the answer that was sought, though it was not the type Cain had been anticipating for.
“Yes, she is,” Tiller replied. He had the distinct feeling that Cain was somehow involved in this. He tilted his head slightly, hinting the red forming over his captain’s cheeks.
Taking a deep breath, Cain asked, “You are certain?”
“I had her do a urine test,” Tiller nodded. “For such cases, I use a specific purple herb. I drop it into the urine. If it comes out purple, then all is fine. If the urine turns a bright pink then it indicates a change in the female’s hormones, and in Edie’s case, it was a very bright pink. She is definitely pregnant. The test has never failed. Besides the test, she’s had symptoms of headache, dizziness, and nausea.”
Cain sighed. “I believe you.” He looked down at the floor. He just couldn’t believe it!
Edie -- his Edie! -- was pregnant.
“Are you going to be all right?” he heard Tiller ask.
Sighing, Cain nodded. He tilted his head forward. “Yes, Tiller. Thank you.”
--
Cain stepped up to the Pig’s Thigh Inn. He eyed the swaying sign. It had been a blistery day, with high winds, chilliness, and little raindrops. The rain had been an unexpected surprise. It was winter, now. But it had not snowed since five weeks ago -- on that dark night of the challenge.
It was evening now, and Cain knew that there’d be fewer people inside. He was certain that with Edie off her feet, the restaurant most likely had been closed. But no -- they probably had to manage without her. He knew that that damned hunter would be helping out. Cain could just picture him making cute cakes and cleaning tables. He chuckled on the inside, at that.
Shivering, he grabbed the handle and walked inside.
The inn was warm. Cain greeted it whole-heartedly. He kept his eyes peeled, knowing that Tonisha was about somewhere. He did not see her, though, nor Leigh, nor Lavan.
Good.
Closing the door, he decided to go ahead and guide himself towards Edie’s bedroom. He remembered where it was; turn left, second door down. It was just past the small bathroom.
He easily found it. And he had made it there alone. He was glad he hadn’t run into anyone that hated him, or anyone that he was not too fond of, either. Slowly, he raised his hand. Forming a fist, he gave three short knocks to the door.
“Come in,” came Edie’s faint, adorable voice.
Welcoming her offer, Cain opened the door. He stepped inside, finding her sitting up in bed. She was wearing a white nightdress with pink lace on it. Her curly hair was messy. Some strands stuck up. Her hair almost resembled a tiny rat’s nest. Cain smiled, though, for she still looked beautiful.
When she saw who it was, Edie smiled widely. “Cain.” She glowed as he walked over to her.
He stood over her, quietly, at first. He took in her presence. A part of him felt miserably nervous. He pulled at the collar of his jacket, trying to rid himself of a choking feeling.
“Are you okay?” he asked softly. He pounded at his chest some, trying to rid it of sudden irritation.
“Um -- yes,” she answered. She patted the stool next to her bed. “Please sit?”
Nodding, Cain accepted the stool. He scooted up close to her. He blinked when he felt her hand over his. This was -- new. He liked it. He eyed her, hinting that she, too, was nervous.
“So,” he began. “You’re -- pregnant?”
Gaping, Edie suddenly pounded her other hand down on the bed. “She told you?” She grumbled lowly, pouting cutely. “I wanted to tell you.”
Chuckling, Cain rubbed Edie’s hand gently. “Tonisha’s pissed off at me. But yes, she told me.”
He lowered his head, then. He remained quiet. He felt that his own body was trembling. Damn it, why was he so on edge? He shook his head, and lifted it. He saw that Edie was staring at him worriedly. She brought her other hand over to massage his wrist. She had scooted to the edge of her bed. Her face was now inches away from his body. She sadly stared up at him.
“Cain?” Edie spoke. “Where’ve you been?”
Hearing this made Cain gap. He was stunned, somewhat, for Edie sounded sincerely upset. He stared down at her. Her beautiful brown eyes were sparkling. She was not crying, but he could see the sadness in those mesmerizing orbs.
Slowly, he leaned forward. He pressed his forehead against hers, being very gentle. “I’m sorry. I’ve been -- really busy, lately.”
“With what?”
“The usual,” he sighed. “Paperwork…” Of course, he’d keep out the truth to his disappearance. He had been depressing in isolation, thinking about his past self. He had been working hard to find a better way to express his feelings for Edie. He wanted to show her that he was becoming a changed man. And he wanted to prove this to not just her, but everyone.
The very fact that he was trying to change scared him.
“I missed you,” Edie then whispered. She sniffed as she looked into his eyes. She tilted her head, noticing something different about his eyes. They were still a deep brown, but they no longer appeared as dark as they once had.
They seemed -- genial.
“Did you miss me?” she asked.
“Yes,” Cain breathed out. “I did.”
“Mm… I’m glad.” She smiled up at him. Slowly, she cupped his cheek. She giggled, noticing that he was starting to grow some hairs. She tried picturing him with either a beard or mustache, but doing so made her cringe. Cain looked best shaved. “You have hairs -- feels weird.”
Surprised, Cain snorted a laugh. He shrugged his shoulders, acting accused. “Guess I’ve been working too hard.”
“Just make sure you shave,” Edie smiled. “I prefer you shaved.” She did. And yet she adored Lavan’s facial hair.
“I’ll keep that in mind,” he grinned. Usually, he complained about her appearance.
Who’d had thought she’d complain about his?
Smiling, he watched her settle back down. She sighed as she rested against her small pillow. “Cain? Promise me something?”
“Sure,” he nodded.
“Promise -- that you won’t disappear on me like that again,” she whispered. “Okay?”
Gaping, Cain soon smiled. He nodded as he wiped at her tangled hair. He leaned down, planting a kiss on her lips. She accepted this happily as he answered her.
“I promise.”
Ready to give her another kiss, Cain had to lean up at hearing the bedroom door opening. He turned his head, keeping his hand in Edie’s as he saw who had interrupted them.
In walked Lavan and Tonisha.
