Rune stood in the door way as he watched Dawn run around in a hurry. She was hanging things from hooks on the walls. “Keir stay awake.”

He tightened his grip on the ice bag on his head. His head would nod forward and then he’d jerk only to wince in pain. Then she walked over to him. Keir held his arm out and she grabbed it. “It’s getting harder to stay awake.”

“Hold on.”

A hand touched his shoulder and he jumped. “Calm down Rune it’s only me.” Nina was looking down at him. “After she gets the blood in him he’ll be sleeping for the rest of the night. Akira is also waiting for you.” He nodded and walked off as she followed she added, “Being part Were has its advantages.”

“How?”

“A normal vampire would have most likely attacked the first blood source they find. That’s if there young ones but the older ones they can hold on a little longer.”

“What about Keir?”

“He’s okay. Don’t worry he wouldn’t hurt anyone without a reason.”

She pushed the door opened and motioned for him to walk through as he did he was embraced by Lucy. “I heard, are you okay?”

“Yeah he protected me.” His shoulders shook. “He didn’t move fast enough when he pushed me away.”

Lucy hugged him and as he hugged her back. “Shhh, it’s okay. He’ll be fine.”

Akira was looking out the window, “Where are they?” He turned and looked at Rune. “Rune you can stay here if you want.”

The small male pulled away. “No I wanna help save Maria and everyone.”

Kai was sitting on the couch a long sleeve shirt was on, Lucus was next to him, Blair was sitting on the chair’s armrest, Willow was next to her holding a cup of hot coco, Kacy and Sage were sitting next to each other, and Tobias was standing by the door that Rune had walk through. “They should be here soon.” The sky was getting darker and then Akira glanced out the window.

“They’re here.”

When the front door open Zach was being held up by both of them. His leg was bleeding heavily, “Willow.”

“I got it.” She moved over and taking her hand she bit down on her finger. Placing four dots on his leg, one on each side at the top and the bottom, she held her hand over it. A soft green color enveloped her hand and the wound disappeared. “How does that feel?”

“Better. I almost got hit by flying rocks and then a group of ten sweepers come out of nowhere.”

“They’re not real Sweepers the real ones stopped coming out after the bombs went off.” Rune was standing in the front hallway. “I watched as one guy called for help for me and Keir but he was ordered to come back.”

Akira looked at Zack, “Fake?”

“Yeah some got in during the storm. Took the whole house and was trying to use our family to get Rune out.”

The small male smiled, “Fear helped.”

Willow stood up and she smiled, “Well now that everyone is here, let’s get down to business.”


Zev walked into the room to find his mom moving about once again. She was making sure Keir was comfortable, “If you wake up and your hungry call for me okay.”

“Sure.” Dawn smiled at Zev and walked out of the room. “Hey.”

“So…”

“Well I know how a bug feels when you drop a book on it.”

“Hey you did that not me.”

He sat down on the chair across the room. “How’s Rune?”

“Just a few scrapes.”

“Good.”

“They’re going to be leaving soon to help Marianela, Ransom, Mitch, and Jett.”

“What happened?”

“They went missing and so they’re going to go look for them.”

Keir looked up at the ceiling, “Rune is going to go with them?”

“Yeah. Akira and Kai are making a plan and they leave an hour after nightfall.”

“I see.” His eyes started to drift shut, an IV was attached to his arm and he glanced up at it. “Can you hand me the bottle on the table?”

Zev held it out to him and he took it, being careful he drank some. Taking the bottle Zev sat it back on the night stand. “I’m going to go with.”

“That would help them out a lot.”

“Yeah. Akira might say no.”

“He might have a reason for saying no.” His eyes were closed and he was now slipping. “If you go make sure…”

“Don’t worry I’ll watch him. Get some sleep.”

“Fine.” He was soon asleep and Zev left the room.

Akira sighed, “It’ll have to do for now.”

“It’s better than nothing.”

Kai had a point as he started to think again, then he nodded. “Fine will work with that for now. We get in then get out. One group will stall, one will look for them and, another will set free anyone trapped in there.”

“Who will be in the groups?”

“I’m going to look for Marianela; I’ll take Rune, Zack, Lucus and Willow.” He turned to Kai, “You’ll be with Blair, Lucy, Kacy, and Tobi. You’ll look for anymore people trapped in there. I don’t want anyone to go through what we did. Sage you’ll take Sunny and Mike.”

“Why only three for distraction and why isn’t Rune helping with the distraction?”

“I’ll need his help.” He looked at all of them. “I need the best to hold the guards at bay while we get in. Is there anymore?”

“I don’t think they’ll be speaking up.” Kai stood and nodded. “This will work.”

“We leave in an hour, do whatever you need to get ready.” He dropped onto the couch and sighed. Two hands started to rub at his shoulders and they pushed his head forward. “Keep your hands were I can see them.”

“Don’t worry Akira; I know you and the wolf are together.” Glancing back at Kai he shook his head. “Be sides how else are you going to unwind. You’re so tense.” He heard the sigh and Akira tipped his head back. “Do you two even…”

“I’m not going to tell you!”

“Come on!”

Then a thought popped into his head. “How about you show him?”

“What?”

“How to rub shoulders.”

“Why?”

“He’s not going to speak up but he’s getting jealous.”

Kai sighed and shook his head. “Fine, go spend some time with him.”

“You act like I’m going to die.”

“You never know that.”

Akira smiled and brushed his hands away, “I’ll go spend some time with him.” He stood up and walked over to the door. Opening it he stepped out and then closed the door. “Zev.”

The wolf looked at him; he was leaning against the wall. Looking over at Akira he smiled and Akira couldn’t help but smile. “Can I go with you?”

And the smile was gone, “No.”

“Why not?”

His grip tightened on the door knob. He didn’t want anyone to see that place to know what he had to go through. “No.”

“I can help you.”

“I…”

“What?”

“I don’t want anyone to know.”

“Know what, that place was a hell hole I know that. Let me help, we can find them faster if there’s more than one looking.” Akira shook his head. Zev pushed away from the wall and placed his hands on his shoulders. “Please Akira. Please let me help you.” His arms wrapped around his shoulders. “Don’t do this alone.”

“I won’t be alone.”

“Then why are you shaking?”

He was right, his body was shaking. Then he gave a sigh his hand reached up and he turned his head, Zev had that look in his eyes. “Something tells me you’ll follow me no matter what.”

“Damn straight.”

Leaning his head back he reached his hand up and grabbed some of Zev’s hair. The wolf was startled when Akira pulled his head down and they kissed. It was soft and then it became more. It was all over when they heard a cough. Dazed eyes looked over to find Dawn; Akira pulled away and nodded his head.

“My little puppy found someone else! I’m so happy.” She ran over and pulled Akira into a bone crushing hug. His body stiffened and she pushed him back, “You’re too skinny we need to put some meat on those bones.” Dawn then smiled. “I need to tell your father now.”

They watched as she ran down the hall. “That was weird.”

“Tell me about it. I think she’s just happy I’ve finally found someone.”

“I’m liking your mother more and more.”

“Akira!” He sighed and walked back into the room. “We’re all ready.”

Lucy was the only one standing, he nodded and they all made their way to the door. He turned and looked at Zev, “Fine you can come along. I need you to do one thing.”

“What’s that?”

“Get Marianela out of that place as fast as you can.”

“I will and you have to come out after me okay.”

“What makes you think I want to stay there? I have something better waiting for me.” Zev smiled and he gently touched his face.

“So Zev is coming along?”

They looked to see Rune and the rest of them looking in. The whole group was looking at him. Akira turned his head away. “Yeah I’m coming along. No way in hell I’m going to sit back while this is happening.”

“Good we need all the help.”

There was another voice, “Do ya want me to get any back up just in case?” Star was standing with her hand on her hip.

They all looked at Akira as he thought about it, “Yes that would work. We’ll have a better diversion.”

Sage nodded and Star grinned, “Then let’s get this show on the road.”

They had made it. The building was standing in front of them. It was a large one, on the outside it was an old medical building but on the inside was hell, a hell that no one should have to face. A fence stretched out and around disappearing into the forest; if you listened you could hear a river running somewhere close by. The building was ten stories high and smaller buildings dotted the grounds.

Akira had his spear out and he looked up, clouds had gathered in the sky. “It’s going to snow soon.”

A hand touched his shoulder, “Then let it snow.” He looked back at everyone. “You all know the plan. Don’t get stopped no matter what and don’t let them catch you.”

After he spoke they all climbed or jumped over the fence. “Let’s save them.”


A guard was walking down the hall when he heard the sound, turning he found himself clutching his throat. Blood seeped over his hand and he fell to the ground. Sage stood with a large scythe in his hands he had a wicked grin on his face. “Never play with a reaper’s kid. You might lose your life.”

Sunny was jumping around dodging the attacks, “Hold still ya damn cat!”

“Why would I do that?” He jumped up and round housed the guy in the face. The guy fell to the ground and Sunny knocked him out.

Mike held his fists up, there were fingerless gloves on his hands, “Bring it!” Two guards ran at him and he started tossing out punches, then flipping over grabbed one guy and tossed him at another guy. “Don’t mess with a champ!”

A large brown wolf came tearing down a hall and attacked a group of guards, they found themselves trying to keep from getting bitten. They cut their way through the number of guards.

Further in the building Akira was running down the hall, Lucus would shoot an arrow and hit a guard as they ran at them; Willow was on Zev’s back and Rune on Zack’s back. Akira jumped and slammed his foot into guard’s face. He used the face as a spring and flipped behind one only to take them out as he took off running. The dead bodies dropped to the ground. Soon an alarm was going off.

Hawk was resting on his shoulder; she had taken a quick message to Daisuke only to come back in time to help Akira. “There’s one around the corner.”

Running over to the corner he took that guy out and ran after the others. He slid to a stop and looked back. Zack was sniffing the ground when Zev made a sound and took off. What they found was not done by them. There were dead bodies everywhere.

“Akira.” He looked at Hawk. “I sense someone that’s almost like Flare.” She pointed down the hall and then both Zack and Zev’s ears folded back. He had heard it, gunshots we’re going off.

Marianela was trying to stop the bleeding but everything she tried failed. Ransom was slowly dying and she couldn’t help him. “Please don’t die.” He breathing was getting weaker and he coughed. Two of his ribs were broken. Jett was clutching his arm and Mitch laid off to the side out cold. “Please don’t leave me here alone!”

“Ma…ria…” his hand weakly gripped hers. “I… smell……” he pointed. “Akira…”

The door slammed open and Akira was standing there, “Willow!”

She ran over and Marianela screamed. Willow found herself being yanked back just as a large weapon slammed into the ground. “Welcome Akira, to my game.”

Akira growled and let go of Willow. “Where the hell are you?”

Rune saw Ransom on the ground and his eyes widened, Zack was ready to attack and Zev was growling. A large person stood in front of them now. “Knox, get rid of them.”

The weapon slammed down where Akira and Willow were standing at. “Heal Ransom we’re going to keep this guy busy.”

“Okay.”

She ran when Akira tried to attack the largely built guy. When she was at Ransom’s side he smiled and his eyes closed. Willow quickly repeated the steps she did with Zack. But when she went to heal him the wound wouldn’t heal. “It won’t heal. Why won’t it heal?”

The brunette punched Knox only to yelp. He jumped away and shook his hand, his skin felt like thick metal. Zack ran and jumped his teeth sunk into the large mans shoulder, but it did nothing. He found himself being tossed across the room. His bite didn’t even faze him. Lucus stood back and he let two arrows fly. They only glanced off the hard skin.

Jett stood up, “Akira, Mitch’s bullets didn’t work on him.” He stumbled and dropped to his knees. “Fucking leg, work!”

“Worry about yourself Jett!”

Zev attacked only to be swatted away like a fly. He yelped when his body hit the wall. Running at him again Akira tried to stab him only he found himself up against the wall and he landed on top of Zev. He heard the yelp from the wolf and Akira stood up. Something wasn’t right about this guy.


Rune ran over to Ransom. “What’s going on why isn’t he healing?”

Willow looked up at him and she smiled, “I take it your over your fear of blood.” He flinch and she smiled, “Still working on it. I’m sorry Rune it’s not working. I can’t heal him.”

Ransom weakly placed his hand on her arm, “It’s… okay…” He looked at Marianela, she was crying heavily and he lightly touched her cheek. “Stop… please…… I… lo” His hand slipped and fell to the ground. Marianela screamed and shook his body.

“No! Don’t leave please don’t leave!”

The small male shook and he reached up to cover his face. Tears were coming down now, “Why!? Why does this have to happen?” Looking over at the loud cry he watched as Akira’s body slammed into Zack’s. Zev tried to attack from behind but even that didn’t work, ‘I want to help. I want to help!’ Growling he clenched his fist. Looking down he saw the fingerless gloves and he looked up. Purple became Maroon and his pupils became catlike.


The large club slammed into Akira and he slid across the floor. Jett was looking down at him, “You okay?”

No the bastard won’t die, is what he wanted to yell but he got up and shook his head. “Yes just fucking peachy.”

He was about to run when the large man’s body jerked forward. When they looked closer they saw Rune delivering a kick to Knox’s back. Rune landed on his feet and jumped back. Akira narrowed his eyes, he could sense Fear it was like that part had vanished. Watching as Rune ran around was the guy turned he jumped and grabbing his head pulled him down onto the ground. There was a loud thud as that large body met the floor.

Standing up he looked down and grinning he cracked his knuckles. Standing on the body his hand held down at Knox’s face, “Face.” He jumped away and the large man screamed as he clutched his head. “Fear.” He made motion with his hand. “Sleep forever.” The body became very still and they all watched Rune walk toward the body. “May you rest in peace.”

Marianela made a sound and they looked over to see a healed Ransom. He was touching his chest, “How?” He yelped when a sobbing blond attached herself to him. Willow was just plain confused at what had happened, she had watched the wound close by it’s self.

Akira sighed and he pushed himself up. They need to get home, he rubbed his side and Willow was next to him. “Hold still.”

She held her hand over the bruised side. The pain faded and he nodded, she was next to Zach and taking care of his bruises and the she made her way over to Zev. Jett was trying to stand, “Fuck.” Willow walked over and looked at him.

“Hold on I’ll…”

“Sorry it won’t work.”

“Why?” She knelt down and her hands stopped. “It’s not real.”

“Both of them aren’t real.” He smiled at her. “It looks like one, feels like one, but it’s not real. Can you go check on Mitch?”

“Okay.” She walked over to Mitch and Akira knelt down next to Jett.

“Need any help?”

“Yeah that would work.” He took his arm and they both walked over to Mitch. He was coming to when Akira sat Jett next to him. “Hey sleepy.”

“Mnnnn… my head…” He sat up, “Where’s the big guy?”

“Ask Rune?” Rune was still standing there. His body shook and he dropped to his knees, “That’s not good.” He and Zack were by Rune’s side. The small male screamed as he clutched his head. Zack covered his mouth muffling the screams. Without even thinking Akira knocked him out.

“What the hell?” He glanced at Zack.

“Carry him. Zev get Marianela. Ransom, if you can walk help your brother. Mitch, get up and help with Jett. Willow stay with Zev. Lucus tell everyone to run; we need to get out of here.”

“What’s going on?” The blond had his phone out and was already calling Sage and Kai.

He looked at Mitch, “The building in going to blow up. Let’s go we have one minute after the alarm sounds to get out of here.” They were moving then, he followed after them, a guard shouted from down the hall. “Run!”

They weren’t that far when the alarm sounded. Then it was chaos, guards and every other type of person was trying to run for the building exit. “We’re not going to make it!” Akira saw the window and looking out he saw everyone outside. He broke the window and looking at everyone pointed. “Zev and Zack jump.” The two didn’t ask they both jumped out of the fifth story window and landed on the ground they ran over to the group. Looking back he saw Ransom. “Get Jett down.” He shifted and crouching picked Jett up. They were out the window.

Lucus climbed onto the sill and he nodded, looking down Zack was standing ready. He jumped out and Zack caught him, he quickly sat him on the ground he ran towards the group.

“You had better have a way for us to get out.” He pulled his shirt off and grabbing Mitch by the back of his shirt, “What the he…” and tossed him out the window, “Ahhhhh!” He jumped on the windowsill only to be pulled back in. His body hit the ground and he looked up to see him.

“Hello Akira. Remember me?”

“Not really.” He flipped up onto his feet and slammed his fist into the guys face. The man stumbled and he took that chance to jump back. His back was to the window. Something shot out and wrapped around his waist. “Let go!”

The man got close and he laughed. “No, time for you to come back.”

There was a loud growl and he looked past Akira. The man was back handed and he flew across the hall. Zev growled again and grabbed Akira then they both jumped as the building exploded. Something smack into the back of Zev’s head and Akira found himself and the wolf falling fast to the ground. Without even thinking his wings came out and he glided down to the ground.

Akira dropped him onto the ground and dropped down next to him. He felt dizzy and he found out why when Marianela shouted. Looking down he found the tip of something sticking out of his gut and blood dripping from it. His body swayed and he fell to the ground next to Zev. The last thing he saw was the first thing he saw that morning. Zev asleep in his wolf form.
