Chapter 31
The voice boomed through the speakers, the music of the live band drowned out by the voice from above. Every person stopped their spinning across the dance floor, their happy laughter at another day. The mayor looked up at the sound of the voice and his eyes widened. After only a few words all at the party had stopped all thought process to listen. Some would stand there in fear, others would stand in horror. All the lives of the party room would change as Bartholomew Rose made his own horrid confession to them all from the privacy of his own secret rooms. “I’m going to make ‘Belle’ disappear,” Bartholomew announced boomingly. “And you, young lady, are going back to your parents. I may be a lustful man and would like to add you to my permanent collection, Miss Aino, but you see, Akane has offered me something better. She has offered me Daisuke’s real daughter, a ten-year-old girl, in exchange for you to come home and for me to drop my interest in you. Of course it all comes at a high price, but I do plan on having you at least once before I return you, so Daisuke will always taste me when he tastes you.”
“You pedophile!” No one in the room could mistake the terror in Minako’s voice.
It was then pandemonium broke out. The entire ballroom of the Rose Manor began chattering at one. The major and the assorted security guards were ordering searches throughout the house to find Belle and Minako. Akane and Daisuke were running for the door in the midst of the confusion, hoping to escape, while other men of high society were also trying to make their way from the manor in hopes not to be ousted as similar pedophiliac.
In the midst of it all Sage and Nemesis were running forward towards the bedroom, but both had very different outcomes in mind. What Nemesis did not know was that it was Sage who had explained the entire plan to Bartholomew Rose… or at least parts of it. Sage had been protecting himself, for Rose had recently discovered that Sage was the murderer of his beloved mother. Nemesis had expected sex from Minako, Draco to be placed at an odd time as a male, and all together humiliation. Sage had wanted it more complete… and oddly to protect the woman who was now at the man’s mercy.
The only problem was that he had been playing with a fire that was certain to burn them all down if he did not reach Minako in time.
Inside of the room Minako was struggling against Mr. Rose, who had her pinned on the bed, her dress completely torn off, her legs spread, and her body primed for him. Draco still lay unconscious on the floor, barely breathing, his face pale.
“This is what you came here for, isn’t it?” Rose asked of Minako, his thigh between hers, his hands busy holding her down as she bucked. “You came here to seduce me.” From every speaker in the house his voice echoed. They could hear Minako’s cries of terror and fright. Even Thomas Evans, who had remained in the garden, lost, was listening to Minako fight.
“I came to show you the error in your ways!” Minako cried out. “You, my mother, my father, you all deserve what is coming to you!”
Cops and security guards were pounding up the stairway. Could the mayor believe that all of the security guards hired that night did not know about Rose and his ways? No. Was he willing to let some of it slide to rescue this girl? Yes. He needed to rescue her or else something more horrible would be sounding over those speakers, for all ears to hear. Respected people remained in that ballroom. People who had respected Rose and the things he had done for society danced to those beats and now listened to him trying to rape a sixteen-year-old girl. A girl who they had all guessed now had been used before. Several times.
“Well, Minako, show me the errors,” Rose said to her, his pants undone, his erection ready for her.
Minako felt bile rush up the back of her throat. She could not handle it any longer, she could not just fight and scream and wait. “Sage!” she screamed out, the loudest sounds that ever reverberated out of her throat. She called his name with all of her hope torn into that very seam. Mr. Rose knew what she was doing and suddenly he realized how set up he truly had been. Minako knew all along that he knew. Minako knew, but not Draco. Minako and Sage had played them all for fools when they were tired of being used.
Mr. Rose was up off of the bed and reaching into the dresser door as the door busted open from the weight of two young men throwing themselves at it when they noticed the doorknob did not work. They ran through to save the day and did not expect things to have gone as awry as they did. The explosion was heard throughout the speakers, and though the remnants of gun powder could not have shaken the entire house, the sound of death’s door slamming on a young life did. Minako was off the bed, naked and unsteady, not caring about the danger she put herself in, as she ran forward to Sage’s side. He feel back, eyes rolling back into his head, and she screamed loudly enough that the cops, security guards, and etcetera people looking for them came to the rescue at the very sound of her voice.
The second bullet grazed Minako’s cheek, cutting a slice of the lobe of her ear away as it slammed into the floor, shattering wood flooring up and away. She did not even notice the blood dripping down her face, nor did she hear the third bullet that went off. A person never hears the bullet that kills them, the bullet is faster than sound. Minako would wonder later if Mr. Rose heard the bullet that landed smack dab in the center of his chest, the blood blooming out to cover the white dress-shirt in crimson floods.
The next few minutes were confusion and chaos and Minako noticed none of it. She only watched as the same rose-like pattern filled Sage’s chest, covering his dress shirt. She remembered enough to put her hands against it, to keep the blood from seeping through. This was not how the plan was supposed to go. He promised after the party that they…
Unlike the movies Minako did not have her chance to say good-bye to Sage. He was dead before the ambulance made it on the scene. He was dead before Draco had come to. He had almost been dead when he had hit the ground. Minako could not have saved him. Sage, the one who had been the most worried, who had finally told her one night on the roof the truth, was the one who died in her arms. Minako could not stop the tears from falling. They had found revenge… but at what price?
