Return of a hero

 

Daniel sat on the bench ,  waiting  for his contact  to arrive . Moments  later  a man with light  brown  hair  walked up to him and sat down next to him .

"Mr.Frost . Glad you could make it ." 

The man called Frost  nodded  and gave Daniel  a folder .

"I assume  this  means that you have accepted  my offer then  ?"

"I have  . Yes ."

Daniel  grinned opening  the folder and scanned  its  contents . "Wise choice . So this is the schedule ? " 

"Yes . Everything  you need to know is in there  , the time change ,  shift  change ,  everything .  Can I ask what your  interest  in  Martel  is ?"

"It's personal . Let's just say I wouldn't  be here if it wasn't  for him ."

Daniel  closed the folder and got up to leave .

"How is this going to happen ? "

Daniel  turned  and grinned at the man .

"All you have to do is look the other way . I'll do the  rest . "

"I just don't  want  to  this getting back to me ."

"Mr.Frost , you'll  be  payed  . All you do is look the other way .I will handle  everything  else . Just make sure to have your  men out of my way ,now is that all ? "

Frost nodded and left as Daniel  walked away .

Raven looked at the surveillance  footage . From what he could see , this person  was  a quick  thinker and he was a good fighter . A bad combination .  So far Raven didn't  have a clue as to who this mysterious  person was . All he and Raine  knew was that he had a serious  hate for them  both . He sighed  as he dragged  a hand through  his hair . None of his contacts were able to tell him anything  either .  Raine stood behind  him as he massaged  his  shoulders . 

"If only we knew who we're  dealing  with . "

"I know , little  one ,  and I can't  shake  the  feeling that he's planning something .  Something  big . "

Raine  leaned over  and placed his  cheek on the blonde's  head .

"I think we should  go  to  him for a change .  You know , catch  him by surprise . "

Raven  leaned into Raines  touch and sighed .

"That's  a great idea , but where  would we start ?" 

Raine thought about  it as he continued  to massage  the blonde .

"We call him out . Make him come to us ."

Raven  grinned  and turned to face the shorter  male .  He wrapped  his  arms  around  him and pulled him onto his lap .

" Hmm ,not a bad idea ."

"We have to  do something . "

Raven leaned in and kissed Raine  , who wrapped  his arms  around  the blondes  neck .

"Speaking  of 'doing something  ' ,let's  do something  now ."

"Don't  you think  of anything  else ? " 

Raven  smirked  and kissed  those inviting  lips . 

"When it comes to you , I have a one -track mind  , little  one . "

Raven  stood up and Raine  wrapped  his legs  around the blonde's  hips .

"Mmm ,lucky  me ."

Raven  smirked  as he carried  the shorter  male to the room . Raine  was set down  and both  began  removing  their clothes . Moments  later Raven  had Raine  pinned to the bed as the blonde  peppered him with kisses . His hands  roaming  everywhere . With their  plan to lure Rocket  out in mind , both agreed that it would be easier  if they acted quickly  and unexpectedly . The problem  was solved for them when Rocket  had another  hostage . He had them  read a letter  . Gadjet  and  Kickback  were to meet  him in the same spot they had fought the last  time or the hostage  would pay the price . Raven  and Raine  quickly  got into their  costumes  and went to meet with Rocket . This time Raine  was determined  to  get him and find out who he was and what he wanted  with them .

The poor man watched  as the former  hero ,Rocket   , glance around . The masked man noticed  this and walked  up to him .

"This must suck for you , but don't  worry . I ll   let you  go  if two certain  individuals  show up . If they don't ...well sucks to be you . "

"Please  let me go  , I don't  want to die . " 

Rocket  sighed as he looked up  at  the sky . 

"Don't  beg . Jeez , have some dignity !" 

The man tried  to calm himself  , but he couldn't  . Why was Rocket  doing this ? Wasn't  he supposed  to  be  a  hero ? He looked at the man , something  about  him didn't  seem right . He seem different . 

"I knew you two wouldn't  fail me ."  

The hostage  looked in the direction  Rocket  was staring and saw Gadjet  and Kickback . The two wore grim expressions  as they walked closer .  

"We're  here . So you can let him go ." 

Rocket  shook his head and grinned as he took out a knife .  He moved toward the frightened  man , whose eyes went wide when he saw the knife . 

"Don't do anything  stupid !  " 

Rocket  turned his head and rolled his eyes .

"You want him free or not ?  'Cause really , I don't  think  you want him to hear what I have to say ." 

Gadjet  frowned  as he held Kickback  back with his arm .

"Just don't  hurt him ." 

Rocket  cut the rope that held the hostage  tied .

"There see ? He's free to go now . " 

The man cautiously  walked away  from  them as he left . 

"What have we done to make you hate us  ?"

"You keep asking the dumbest questions .  Haven't  you ever thought of what would happen  if someone  you put away  had family  or someone  who  would want payback ?  If you didn't ,  then you're really  stupid . "

Understanding  dawned  on Gadjet . 

"So this  is  about  revenge ? "

"Revenge ?  No . It's  about  putting  you in your  place !  Knocking  you down  a peg or two ."

"Who ever  we put behind  bars , well they did something  to land themselves  there . "

Rocket  glared  at  Kickback  with hatred .

"You think you're  so high and mighty . We'll you're  not ! "

"We never claimed  to  be better than anyone . We just help people  who need it ." 

"Heh , you know , you two  seem pretty ...chummy . "

Gadjet  frowned  as Kickback  glanced  at him . 

"What is that supposed  to  mean ?" 

Rocket's  grin was full of malicious  intent . 

"I wonder  what  would  the people  say if they were to find out just how close you two are ."

"We are just partners . "

"Really ? 'Cause from what I saw the other night ...well partners  doesn't  seem to like the right word . I would  say friends  with benefits . "

He let out a laugh as he saw the color  drain  from both of  their  faces .

"I -I don't  know what you're  talking  about . " 

"I saw how cozy you were . Not so high and mighty now are we ? Damn hypocrite ! "

"We're  not ..."

"Shut up !"

Rocket came running  at them , but they got out of his way .

"Don't do this !" 

Rocket  growled  as he reached Kickback  and threw punch  after punch . The shorter  male blocked and dodged . 

"You have no idea what's  in store  for  you two cock suckers !"

Rocket  whipped  around  as he kicked Kickback , and in one move turned  and buried  the knife  he had into the blonde's  stomach .  Kickback  watched  in horror  as Gadjet's eyes went wide and clutched  at  where the knife protruded  before  he collapsed . 

"Raven  -no!"

He got up and ran towards  Rocket , and planted  a foot on his chest   , then used his other foot to push him away .  Rocket  rolled to the floor  as he got up . He wiped off his mouth with the back of his hand as he smirked . 

"You're  always  be second  rate compared  to  me ." 

Rocket  then turned and ran the other way . Raine  was too concerned  with Raven  to care about  him . He dropped  to his knees next to the blonde and slid his hood away from his face .

"Baby ,  please ...talk to me ."

Raine   had never  been this scared  before .  This was all his fault .

"Li-Little one ."

Raine brushed tears from his eyes as he heard Raven . "Raven ?  Hold on .please just ...hold on ."

Raine took out his phone  and dialed  9-1-1 . He quickly  gave the operator the directions  and hung up . No doubt  they would  be asked about  their costumes   ,but he would  worry  about  that later .

"Little  one , it's ...okay . Don't  cry ."

"Don't  talk and save your  strength . "

Raven lifted his hand weakly  and caressed  the shorter  males cheek . The ambulance  came and loaded Raven  in , Raine  insisted  on going with him . He  looked  on helplessly as the emt's worked on the blonde . They had managed  to stabilize  the bleeding  just as they reached the hospital . Raine stared at the blonde's  pale face as he couldn't  stop from shaking . The doctor  on call began working on Raven  . Suddenly  he flatlined . The doctor  had the nurses wheel  the blonde  to the operating  room . Raine  covered his mouth with his  hands as he slid down  the wall he was leaning  against .  He couldn't  lose Raven  . It wasn't  fair . He didn't  want to lose him . It was too cruel .  He sobbed as tears slid down  his cheeks .
