The Chronicles of the People of Sklar pcp 2013
Meanwhile
Back at the village the town’s people were all gathered in the inn by the Troop of soldiers. “So you all agree than that my advance guard violated the innkeeper’s daughter and when he protested my guard ran them through with his sword. Then your smithy and his wife came to hold him for trial and he ran them through too. Next the son of the smithy picked up his parents’ swords and fought my man to the death, killed him and did all that stuff to him while he was alive without anyone helping him.” “Yes sir, it was as if he had been pocessed by The Unholy One. For every move your man made, he would slash with both swords and cut through it and mark your guard. He finally made him fall and then looking to his mother who was just barely living ran him through in his throat.” This was from Tamarn’s father. “Jarrod, have you scanned these folk to see if they are telling the truth?” “Yes Sir, each one of them has told relatively the same story and none of it a lie. It seems this boy was very lucky or had more experience than anyone knew. I checked them to see if any knew where he went but it seems he must have threatened them as they all hid in their locked homes under their beds. I also cast my thoughts out to see if he left a mind trail but nothing showed up. Arid checked for trails and could not find anything; it is almost as if majick was used to cover their tracks.” Harold, come here I have a job for you.” The Captain shouted. “I want you to ride back to the barracks and bring the Sorcerer to search for this coward’s direction. He must have used majik”
Harold rode out of the village towards the barracks, as he was out of the light his eyes turned black and a bat approached him. “Brother go to the young one and tell him that the Captain plans to get a Sorcerer to search for tracks.” With that the bat flew off and the rider rode on towards the fort. Unknown to him red glowing eyes had seen and heard what had transpired. Silently from its tree perch the Eagle Hawk flew off in the direction of the bat.
The Sorcerer was waiting in the courtyard with his bags and horse when Harold arrived. “Well I guess it is time for us to get started and hunt this killer, eh. “As he said this his eyes turned black. He smiled when he saw that Harold acknowledged him the same way. “It seems that the young master has many hidden friends that he has yet to meet,” Harold laughed. “I sent a bat to warn him that a Sorcerer was on his trail.” I know, an Eagle Hawk acquaintance of mine saw it and flew off after it and was going to let it know that we are friends. He also sent me the message that you were coming and to be ready.”
“So now I guess we get to lead the patrol on a merry chase long enough to frustrate the Captain until he returns home. Personally that pig deserved to die; it is unfortunate that he took four people with him.” They left two hours later, after a leisure supper and a hot drink to keep the night chill at bay, taking their time to reach the village.
When they arrived at the village the captain was upset at their delay, the sorcerer reminded him that now that he was there the captain was no longer in charge and that he was bordering on disciplinary actions. The captain went pale and swallowed hard after looking to his men only to find the very thing of obedience, which he had pounded into them, was now working against him. He apologised profusely to the Sorcerer, begging his forgiveness. The Mystic smiled evilly at the captain and turned to wink at Harold.
In the morning, after a heavy breakfast, the troop prepared to move out under the Sorcerer’s command with the newly demoted captain assigned to rear guard patrol. Harold had been promoted to sergeant and troop leader. Tam’s father smiled and watched as the troop lead out from the opposite end of town from which his son had. As they passed the smithy The Sorcerer cast a spell that showed him the images of Sklar forcing Tamarn and Tyra onto horses at sword point. All the men saw this and whispered about the cruelty of the youth towards those that had been his friends. The Sorcerer smiled at Harold and left at a gallop to search for the errant killer. As they rode off an Eagle Hawk flew overhead and squawked its black eyes shining as it banked and went off in the opposite direction.
