Chapter 3
Chapter 3 The farther they got from home, the angrier she became. The bruise on her thigh got progressively darker. She ran tired fingers over the enflamed skin and glowered at the driver. "We can stop for ice." said Daniel, glancing at her through the rear view. Sarah said nothing in response.
"She's mute now." laughed Daniella.
Daniel pulled into a small, dusty, filling station along the road and got out. "I have to use the bathroom." said Sarah, glowering still. "No ones holding you down." responded Daniella smartly. The warm yellow sunlight was starting to melt away, drifting further and further from view, sinking into the horizon. Sarah, shielding her eyes from the harsh light, opened the front door to the station, and was startled by the obnoxious ding that sounded. The smell of gasoline and cigarette smoke was almost overpowering. The old, gray haired man behind the counter lit one up, hand buried in the front of his filthy trousers. "Got a bathroom?" Sarah asked. The old cashier reached under the counter. "Got a boyfriend sweetheart?" with his free hand, he tugged the cigarette from tightened lips and smiled. Sarah looked over her shoulder at Daniel and leaned across the counter smiling back. "No, what's it to ya?" The old man held the key in his hand, dragging it along the counter, toying with her. He took another puff of his cigarette, thick white smoke filling the already odorous air. "Maybe we could talk a little more sometime eh?" Sarah was repulsed by the man, but in toying with Daniel, she'd have done anything. Feeling his jealousy was satisfying. He was behind her now, trembling with anger. Served him right. "What's the hold up?" he asked. Sarah could hear the echo of hostility in his voice, in that low, barely audible snarl. He was mostly talking to her. "Me and my lady friend here are catching up." the old man finally handed her the keys. Sarah snatched them away playfully. "I'll see you later?" she asked, batting her eyelashes. Daniel snatched the keys out of Sarah's closed hand, and grabbed her by the wrist, annoyed by her feigned promiscuity. "Stop it." he said in her ear, holding his hair to one side. Sarah could feel the cold silver, his lip ring, against her ear and shuttered. She took in a ragged breath and tightened her hips, her lower half throbbing uncomfortably. The feeling was new, and wonderful, but unwelcome. Not here, not now, she thought. "Well, just wait a minute-" the cashier stepped from behind the counter, vexed. "The young lady wants to use the restroom. She has that right don't she?" Sarah could feel, internally, what Daniel was feeling. The sensation was oddly euphoric. Her stomach flitted, like tiny butterflies bumping against her insides. She was...aroused, and they both tuned out anything the old man was saying, too engulfed in their own wonton desires. The two unknowingly pushed against one another, Daniel grinding, utterly scrupulous, against Sarah's behind, his erection moving north, throbbing, elongating. Sarah pushed away, ignoring the urges coursing through her steadfast "I have to use the bathroom." she nearly whispered, teeth and thighs clenched. "No." said Daniel, his voice shaking. "What are you her dad?" the old man was still there. He laid a firm hand on Daniel's shoulder. "I asked you a question." Daniel snapped out of his reverie suddenly, annoyed from having been distracted, and strong armed the man, sending him flying into a shelf of magazines. It collapsed under his weight, breaking into several small pieces. People turned their heads to see what the clatter was. Sarah let out a startled howl and backed up. Something was happening. The heaviness from the other day returned, replacing whatever she'd been feeling now. Daniella got out from the passengers side and was running toward them. The old cashier, was no longer an old cigarette smoking man, but was turning into something much more frightening. He lifted from the now disorderly stack of magazines, trembling, his back contorting strangely, fingers twisting and elongating. The sound of splitting bone was sickening. Sarah held her head and thought back to Thomas. Thoughts of Thomas were still fresh in her mind-she wasn't aware until then, that she'd been subconsciously unnerved by Thomas's untimely death, still. "Rogue." said Daniel. He didn't turn. He motioned to Daniella and she locked the front doors. "No on gets in or out." Sarah hid behind the counter along with several other unfortunate customers. Daniel grabbed the creature by the neck. It thrashed wildly, mouth foaming. "Who is your maker?" asked Daniel. He held it against the wall. It snapped and snarled, but said nothing. "I could kill you right now. Tell me who your maker is, and I will spare your pathetic life." "I won't tell you nothing." the creature let out a pained howl, but smirked. "You give me her, I'll tell you whatever you need to-" There was a loud pop. Before the creature could finish, Daniel had broken its neck, dropping the defunct body to the floor as if it were nothing at all. "Get rid of him." Daniella dragged the creature to the back of the store on command, out of sight. Sarah remained behind the counter, holding her ears.
Something in Sarah was changing or perhaps her true feelings were overwhelming the fake ones. She didn't like Daniel, in fact, after all that had happened, she realized just how much she despised the man, yet he made her feel...wonderful. Sarah laid in bed, looking up at the ceiling, watching the tiny dust particles flitter against the white light. She missed home. She missed the much less physical side of Daniel. Sarah got out of bed and went to stare out the window. They were on a reservation in Virginia somewhere. The place was surrounded on all sides by an impediment of trees, like most of the reservations she'd assumed. The houses were small wooden shanties, fully furnished. From her vantage point, above the trees, there was a wonderful view of the surrounding area. It'd been hours, and she was bored. Sarah wandered out onto the fields. Daniella was close on her heels. "Where do you think your going." she snarled, arms crossed.
"I was bored. I've been in that room for a damn long time."
"Well you have fun with that. I'm going back to bed." "Aren't you supposed to be my body guard?" Daniella waved Sarah off and continued on. Sarah looked around. The sky was a cloudless blue. The sun was hot and relentless, it's yellow light burning her skin. She was bored, and restless, but it was much too hot to do anything. "And who may I ask, are you?" a tall, dark haired man stood behind Sarah. She turned around. "I'm Sarah, Daniel's guest."
"His...guest?"
"Well, something like that."
The man gave Sarah a questioning look. Sarah noticed and responded. "How else would I have gotten in here?" "Oh, no its just that I had no idea Daniel had found his-" "That's enough." said Daniel walking up to them both. He put his hand on the mans shoulder and smiled. "Sarah, this is my pack brother, Stephen." Stephen looked to Sarah and then to Daniel. "Well, it's nice to meet you Sarah." Sarah was still exploring her innermost feelings for Daniel, and the connection they shared. It was hard still, understanding which feelings belonged to who, but the familiar heaviness she'd always felt, was there yet again. She held her stomach. Daniel was hiding something. "Go back to your room." said Daniel to Sarah. She crossed her arms and scowled. "No. I've been cooped up in that room for hours." Sarah loved having the opportunity to disobey Daniel. She enjoyed seeing him squirm and this time in front of his own pack brother. She wasn't going to listen to him. The agreement was for her to tag along, and her free will wouldn't be jeopardized. "Sarah..." "What?" "Listen to me."
"That wasn't in the agreement."
"Agreement?" Asked Stephen. He looked to Daniel for an answer.
"It's nothing." said Daniel, eyes fixed on Sarah.
"There's nothing to do here."
"I could take her to training. The fledglings are sparring." said Stephen. "No. She's going to go back to her room as I said."
"If I go anywhere it'll be away from this place." Their little scuffle had accrued attention. People began to stand and watch, feeling that something would conspire. It was Daniel. He was emitting his dominance, a very potent bout of energy that even Sarah could feel, yet she continued on. "You are not my boss. Your my next door neighbor, that's it." Daniel dragged sharpened claws across his forearm to keep from hitting the girl. It took everything he had to keep from striking her right then. "Sarah..." his eyes yellowed with flickering gold bits, a look Sarah was all too familiar with. Sarah digressed. "Fine..." she said. She knew to surrender before things got out of hand like they had in Washington. "And tell Daniella I want to see her." Daniel called after her. "Tell her your self." Sarah shouted back. The people that had gathered burst into laughter at a woman outright defying their Alpha. Stephen guffawed in tandem with the others, but contained himself when Daniel looked at him.
Sarah laid in bed silently, legs hanging over the edge, blankets sprawled out across the mattress. She couldn't sleep. It was nearly 2 am yet she couldn't sleep.
The door opened abruptly, and loudly. Sarah sat up in bed. Daniel walked in and immediately banged his fist against the wall, leaving a gaping hole there.
"Daniel!" "Don't you say a word." he growled, turning slowly to look at her. He'd combed his hair back into a messy ponytail. He was shirtless, showing off an adonis like upper half. Sarah pulled up the blankets to cover herself. "You ridiculed me in front of everyone." he ran a very angry hand through his hair. The hair tie snapped and all his long blond locks blew across taut shoulders. "If you want me to obey your every order, I won't do it. It wasn't in the agreement." "Fuck the agreement." Sarah jumped. She'd never heard Daniel use such language, at least not when talking to her. "I've lived thousands of years. I've seen, I've killed, I've tortured. I've broken the necks of those who defy me, yet you..." he paused to catch his breath. "You destroy me. I must remedy this." Sarah was having a hard time seeing him through the darkness, but she could see that he was angry. He was smoldering in fact. "Take your clothes off." his voice was low, and barely audible. Sarah thought he was joking. "What?" "Take your clothes off. Now." he snarled this time. Sarah held her blanket tighter. "Your being crazy." "Do it." he didn't raise his voice, which made everything he said much more daunting. Sarah looked to the door, hoping, praying that someone would come in. "I won't do It. I just...won't. I don't care about your superiority complex." Daniel grabbed hold of Sarah's wrist and pulled her up out of the blankets. "I could rip your head from your shoulders." he said. "I could take whatever I want from you." "Help!" Sarah called out. Daniel put a strong hand over her mouth and pushed her down. "I'm the Alpha here. Who would dare go against me?" Sarah gathered up every bit of strength she had in her and kneed Daniel in the chest. He was only winded momentarily. He didn't intend to, but out of reflex, he hit her back with his closed fist. Immediately he saw what he had done. He could feel Sarah's hot blood on his knuckles. Sarah cried and Daniel hated it. He'd never heard a woman cry. "Forgive me." he lifted her up into his lap and rocked her like a child. "That wasn't my intention." Sarah was frozen with fear and the blood continued to seep down her face into her white night gown. She'd never been hit by a man, especially not one as strong as Daniel. Daniel had never wanted to pleasure someone as much as he wanted to pleasure Sarah, anything to stop her from crying. He'd inflicted pain on her. He wasn't use to being in the company of someone so fragile, so human like. He laid her down and lifted the bottom of her gown, exposing cute brown legs. "No." Sarah moaned. Her stomach was sick. She held her face and tried to wipe away the blood. It'd made her pale. "Let me apologize." he knitted his fingers into the band of her panties and dragged them downward. Immediately, her smell filled his senses, wholly. He gasped, and inhaled deeply. Sarah couldn't breath. She hated Daniel, but the thought of his lips so close to her womanhood nearly sent her over the edge. She closed her thighs, clenched them as tight as she could. Daniel easily pulled her thighs apart and dragged her panties the rest of the way down. The smell of her blood on his fist repulsed him. Anyone else's blood, was satisfying, but hers sickened him. He held her thighs with strong scabrous hands and pulled her forward. "Forgive me." he whispered into the fold of pink flesh between her thighs. Sarah shuttered. She fought the urge to push into him. "Stop...stop." she clenched her legs tighter, but Daniel forbade it. He lifted up for a moment to look her in the eyes. "Let me." he whispered. Hearing him say that so sensually sent Sarah into momentary insanity. She grabbed a fist full of bed sheets. Daniel placed butterfly kisses down the length of her crease, before using his cold tongue to probe for entry. His mind had gone. He only knew Sarah, only knew of the way she was making him feel. Feel. For years he'd felt nothing, only the bosoms of several very wanting prostitutes and he'd never wanted to pleasure them. He groaned and pulled her closer. She was warm, so warm. He kissed her folds as if they were a woman's lips, became lost and shuttered with pleasure. He used his free hand to hold his hair back. He was flushed red, and panting heavily. Sarah squirmed, back arching. She held tighter, the blankets that surrounded her, not bothering to wipe the sweat from her forehead. The room was suddenly very hot. The room was spinning, then... There was a knock on the door. When Daniel sat up, Sarah scooted away and covered herself. "Who is it?!" he was agitated and his tone of voice could attest to that. "We have a lead. Someone was bitten not too far from the reservation." his voice was urgent. Daniel got up. He walked to the side of the bed Sarah had retreated to and kissed her forehead, then her reddened nose. "I'll come back." he whispered. When he left, Sarah got up and locked the door behind him.
