A new connection
Ch.3: New Connection
Felix and his master were indeed a handful for two people. It was amazing that Celia had managed to house them on her own before. They easily made a mess of the house, leaving Celia and Alvino to clean up after them, and the Cat seemed to be way to excitable.
After dinner Celia told Alvino to play with Felix upstairs so that she could speak to her brother alone. As always, Alvino obeyed his Master.
“Hey, you want to see something interesting?” Asked Felix as they made it up the stairs to the second floor.
“Sure.” Alvino said hesitantly.
Felix smirked devilishly before grabbing the rabbits wrist and dragging him down the hall to a large bed room, Celia’s bed room.
“Wait, we can’t go in there!” Alvino protested in fear but Felix continued to go in the bed room and over to a dresser.
“Oh don’t worry, she will never know.” He said, never releasing the rabbits wrist. He opened the drawer with his free hand and reached inside. He picked something up from within the drawer and placed it in Alvino’s hand.
Alvino cradled it carefully, making sure not to drop the object, before he finally looked at it: it was a stone carving of a rabbit, the stone happened to be a beautiful white color. Alvino couldn’t help but stare incredulously at the stone rabbit.
“She has had it since last year when Evan bought it for her at the river front.” Felix said caringly after letting go of Alvino’s wrist.
Alvino’s heart was throbbing in his chest, what did this mean? Did it mean anything important? There was a loud sound that came from down stairs, probably from Evan acting up, but the sound was loud and unexpected. Causing Felix to jump and bump into Alvino, who ended up dropping the fragile item. He stared in horror as the stone rabbit fell and hit the wooden floor. Some of it cracked but one of the rabbits ears broke off and hit the floor, making it break into tinier pieces.
Alvino was speechless, his heart racing in fear, he turned to look at Felix only to find him gone. Leaving Alvino alone in Celia’s room with the broken stone rabbit. He heard foot steps coming towards the room and he panicked, quickly he picked up the broken pieces and shoved them under the blankets of the bed. Once he turned around to see Celia standing in the door way, he suddenly felt very scared and stupid.
Celia’s icy eyes stared at him, then too the bed, then to the opened drawer next to Alvino. Her frown deepened on her face, “What did you do?”
The sound of her deep and upset voice frightened the rabbit to the core, but what scared him most was that she shut the door behind her as she entered the room. His hands balled into fists, messing up the fabric of his tunic, as he tried to stay still as she approached him.
“Move.” She said in a stern tone and he moved away from the bed quickly. He watched her with unblinking eyes as she pulled the covers away to reveal the broken item.
She turned to face him quickly to scold him, and automatically Alvino’s hands went up to cover his face. He was sure that Celia was going to hit him. But the blow never came.
Instead Celia took his wrist gently and he opened his eyes slowly to see her looking at his hand. Tears ran down his cheeks as he realized she was looking at a cut on one of his fingers. “Damn, you hurt yourself.” She sighed looking up at him, “Sit on the bed for a moment.”
“Y-yes Ma’am.” He stuttered from the tears and fear before doing as he was told.
Alvino sat on the bed shaking, his tears still falling down his cheeks, why had she not hurt him? Was she going to punish him later? He was so nervous that he didn’t realize that Celia had come back from the bathroom with the first aid kit. He jumped when she touched his wrist, she frowned at the response.
She was silent as she took his hand and began cleaning his cut. By the time she put the band-aid on his finger, Alvino had stopped shivering and his nervous fear had subsided.
“I told you previously, that I wouldn’t punish you on the first offence.” She said, her icy blue orbs staring into his green eyes.
“B-but your rabbit, w-was a gift…”Alvino stopped talking as her hand lifted to wipe away the tears that still stained his cheeks.
“It doesn’t matter, I have a new one.” She said, a small smile curving her lips.
The white rabbit blushed deeply, his heart nearly stopping, did that mean…was it all planned? No, maybe it was fate. His heart fluttered as she kissed his forehead lovingly. She moved away, smoothing out his messed up hair, “Now go to bed.”
“Yes, Ma’am.”
Alvino made it to his room and had almost forgotten about the cat, until he saw Felix sitting on his bed preening. The rabbit closed the door behind him and folded his arms in an angry manor. The cat who was currently licking his arm, looked up, “Oh, you survived. That’s good!”
Alvino frowned, “So you planned it?”
The cat shrugged, “Sort of. Aw don’t give me that look!” Felix moved from the bed to embrace the sulking rabbit.
Alvino planned on shoving him away but the hug was calming and he really needed it. The rabbit wrapped his arms timidly around the cat’s waist, returning the hug. “Please, promise you wont do that again.” He sighed.
“I promise.” Felix responded. The two then climbed into bed, Felix’s purring putting Alvino to sleep.
