Oh Baby Why?
John stood in front of the bathroom mirror of his apartment, shirtless, in Wrangler jeans, gluing his hair in the messy look she loved. He leaned closer to the mirror, inspecting himself, looking into the blue-green eyes staring back. John’s heart started to beat faster as he thought about her, the subtle scent of her skin, the fire in her eyes. He shook his head, fighting off the urge to leave and head over to her house extremely early. He dressed quickly, throwing on a worn pair of boots and a comfy blue tee-shirt. The weather was warm; it was a good night to take her out to dinner, and maybe the beach.
Angie walked out to her Mini Cooper, unloading the bags from her shopping trip with Ann. The clothes were fine, but the best part of it all was the lingerie. Angie wanted to feel sexy for one night outside the uniform, and tonight was that night. The makeup was the finishing touch, with the plumeria perfume that drove any man to insanity. Ann was taking on that pregnancy glow, and looked rather good, despite the heavy bouts of morning sickness. More than once on their shopping trip Ann made a beeline for the nearest bathroom, only to come out looking rather pale. Angie threw the bags onto the recliner in the living room as she headed up the stairs to finish getting ready. It was going to be a long night; thank God it was the weekend. Weary with the sickness, Ann laid her arms across the toilet bowl, resting her head on her arms. She never thought in a million years that being pregnant would be like this, but she didn’t expect it to be easy either. Her OB at Naval Hospital Portsmouth told her that the morning sickness should subside after the first trimester, and she should start feeling a little more energetic. This was not energetic, Ann was under the impression that she was getting quite a bit bigger faster than expected. Even Angie had mentioned it earlier that she should get an ultrasound soon to see how big the baby really was, and to ensure that everything was ok.
