Hidden Intentions

Riley remembered Magnolia's face the day of the war. She remembered that pained expression she held when they had found out her mother had died that morning from her injuries. She was attacked coming home from work by a man that hadn't shown the least bit of empathy toward the situation. By then the slew of attacks had become more frequent. The attacks came in small groups. She could still hear the screaming and crying. The sound and smell of burning.

Riley looked up at the skylight on the ceiling and took a deep breath.

"Thinking about it will drive you crazy." She said to herself. It was the last thing she remembered Magnolia saying before she was snatched away.

"Thinking about it will drive you crazy."

Riley grabbed the small dresser from the floor and hauled it across the room. She pushed the bed out of the way.

"Thinking about anything will drive you crazy."

She grabbed the basin and placed it on top of the dresser. She stood on top of the concoction and reached for the skylight. She was just out of reach.

"Dammit."

The basin buckled beneath her weight and broke causing her to lose her balance and tumble over. She fell flat on her back, but the carpeted section of the floor somewhat broke her fall.
She got back up.

"The wardrobe..."

Riley put her back up against the wardrobe and pushed with all her might. She pushed and pushed until it was adjacent to the skylight just enough for her to grab the small metal hook connecting the two glass panels. When she climbed on top, she hooked her finger into the little metal loop and pulled, causing both of the glass panels to crack and shatter to pieces. The noise was deafening.

Riley grabbed either side of the skylight and tried to climb out but her upper body strength was that of a weakling. She was able to lift herself up with shear adrenaline, but something grabbed her foot.

"NO!"

"Get down this instant."

"Let go of my foot!"

Carlile grabbed hold of Riley's ankle and pulled her down, catching her before she hit the floor.

"Leave me alone!"

Riley punched and kicked at Carlile until he became frustrated. He pulled her up by the collar of her shirt and clenched his fist tight.

"Never hit your master."

Riley's head was forced backwards when he hit her with such a force that the room seemed to rumble. She reached up and held her jaw as the tears began to settle in the corners of her eyes.

"You stupid bastard!" She screamed punching at Carlile's face. Her strength was nothing compared to his, but at the time she hadn't a clue that her efforts were in vain.

"Once you learn your place there will be no need to strike you."

"You have no right to do it either way!"

Carlile slapped her right cheek.

"Learn your place."

"I don't know you! Your no one I need to respect! You don't deserve my respect!" Riley argued through closed teeth. Her jaw had locked from anger.

Carlile held her still without much effort as she tried to pull away. He watched her intently. He could see the burning in her eyes and in her body. Though he needed it to stop, he admired her determination. He admired her spirit.

"You can't bring me here and expect me to accept your way of life! I don't know you and I don't want to! Now let me go!"

Riley gathered enough strength to propel herself backwards and pull her knees up until they were parallel to Carlile's chest. She pulled away as she pushed her knees into his chest and Carlile lost his grip.

"I see your vampire abilities are beginning to surface."

"What?"

Riley stood confused.

"Vampire abilities? What do you mean?"

"You are a vampire now. I turned you exactly 2 days ago."

"You bastard! What did you do to me!? What did you do!?"

"I've made you my fledgling. We are one."

"We are nothing of the sort!"

"You would dare insult me, to deny my having turned you means death here!"

"Then kill me!"

Riley broke down to her knees crying. She felt hopeless.

"You will obey me. It is not a choice."

"Fuck you..." Riley said under her breath.

"What did you say?"

"I said fuck you!!" She shouted.

Carlile lifted Riley from the ground by the collar of her shirt and threw her carelessly onto the bed. The shock from having been thrown so harshly had cause her muscles to tighten and she couldn't move.

"You will learn your place."

Carlile grabbed hold of Riley's ankle and pulled her until she was lying at the foot of the bed. He loosened his garments.

"Let go of me." Riley yelled with tears cascading down her swollen red cheeks. She grabbed a fist full of blanket and tried to pull herself forward.

"Shut up!" Carlile shouted. He pulled her shorts down to her ankles and without warning plunged deep inside her backside. Riley screamed at the top of her lungs.

"Shut up and take what you deserve!" Carlile said into her ear as she cried.
uncontrollably. Carlile thought back to his old life. His old mate. He couldn't help but to think that if he would have turned her before she committed suicide that they would still be together. He knew that Riley was his second chance.

"Please I beg you stop! Ill do whatever you want!" Riley cried burying her face into the bed sheets. Carlile pulled out.

"I'm sorry..." He whispered into her ear. He grabbed hold of her and cradled her in his lap. "I'm sorry."

Riley raked her fingers into Carlile's back from the pain. She could feel the blood dripping down her leg from where he had torn her.
