God Gave Rock and Roll to You
Saturn hummed softly to herself as she swished her feet in the large foot tub that had been brought up fro her. Night had fallen fast and it had occurred to her..she had no where to stay. Esephle, ever the thinker, had quickly conjured up a room for her. Saturn had refused at first, saying she had no money and couldn't possibly pay for it. But the Wood Nymph had merely giggled and pushed a small purse full of gold, silver, and copper coins into her hand. "No worries..." Now the young woman sat, strumming lazily on a makeshift guitar. She had used some of the money in the pouch to purchase wood and a few whittling tools. She had always been pretty good at wood shop, and with a few well oiled bow strings she had purchased from one of the squinty eyed dwarves selling weapons, she had managed to convince a carpenter, after much explaining about the looks then finally just drawing a sketch out, to carve her a fairly decent instrument. She had strung it, strummed and tuned it, and now sat in the window seat, soaking her feet. Her Nymph had promised to check in on her later, as she was staying in the same tavern. After assuring the girl she was fine, Saturn had escaped to her room.
She sighed, and set her music aside, dried her feet and stretched. "God Im starving". She was pleased that Esephle had managed to find her different clothing, so people would stop staring at that at least. A pair of soft breeches in pale green complimented her t-shirt, which she had felt obligated to keep on. She would just tell everyone what Esephle had been telling anyone who asked. She was Foreign and the design was common amongst her people. SHaking her head, she made her way down the steps leading into the common room below. She had been listening to the noise most of the night, but due to her thick walls it had been mostly muffled. Now when she entered it was as loud as ever. Few people took notice of her this time, having already seen her when she had first entered. She found an empty table by the roaring fire and settled herself down, smiling at the peaky looking woman who bustled over to take her order. She was an elf, Saturn could tell from her ears, and she seemed to be overly joyous at taking the foreign nymphs order. "Just...tea..if you have it..Cinnamon if possible". The elf nodded, eyes wide in awe as she took in Saturn's tousled appearance, before she blushed and bustled off, returning minutes later with a steaming mug and a teapot for refills. "Anything' else..you don't hesitate ta ask me", she told Saturn briskly, before curtsying and hurrying off, looking over her shoulder every so often.
Saturn smiled into her cup and took a sip, sighing softly, but secretly wishing she had sugar. She had decided to leave her doll in her room, tucked away safely. It had fallen asleep briefly but when she had left, the damn thing had been walking back and forth across her bed, vocationally casting brief looks at her. She fiddled with a string on her shirt then glanced up when she heard a bark of laughter. A group of centaurs were sitting (at least she assumed they were, it was hard to tell with a horse) at a table not to far from hers. She remembered the Nymph telling her about all the soldiers who had returned form the so called war. She supposed these were them. She watched them briefly, at least until someone knocked into her again for the second time that day. She stared up into the red eyes of what she could only think was some hideous Orc. It grunted at her. "Woman, get the hell out of my chair and away form my table." Saturn blinked. "Your table?" "YES!" He practically roared this last part at her. "MY TABLE!!!" She flinched as spittle and god only knows what else hit her face. She wiped the fluid away and frowned but didn't move. "You DARE defy me?" The Orc looked at her menacingly. Saturn didn't budge. It wasn't defiance like the big oaf thought..she was scared shitless.
Across the tavern, Braxton Downed his third glass of ale and chortled happily. "God I missed this". He grinned at Akil, who was nursing only his first glass. Akil was staring at something across the way. Braxton looked over his shoulder as well and blinked. The young woman from earlier was sitting at a table not to far away..and she was being hassled by what had to be the biggest bully around. Braxton frowned. "Now he's trying to get pretty young women to move tables...honestly". She managed to get his hooves under him, if not a bit unsteadily, and made his way over. Akil groaned, while his other companions snickered and made bets with one another. Braxton wasn't nearly as large as the orc, but he could certainly hold his own when it came down to it. "Little Girl, I will not tell you again. If you don't get up, I swear-" The Orc broke off at the tap on his shoulder. When he turned, Braxtons fist met his nose solidly. The woman blinked, still paralyzed by fear, but gasped when the Orc suddenly swung his own fist, connecting squarely with the centaurs head. Braxton stumbled back a step or two. He had a ringing pain in his head now, but lashed out again anyway. He had a slight advantage, being as he had six arms compared to the Orcs two. He used this to his own means, rearing back and slamming his front hooves into the creatures chest, sending him sprawling backwards into the girls table, which promptly gave way. She had scrambled up and out of harms way. Akil..seeing the danger to her as others that were the Orcs companions surged forward..quickly made his way over.
Saturn stared at the wreckage, then looked up in alarm when someone tugged on her arm. A Blonde centaur was looking down at her. "Come on..this could be dangerous..you might get crushed". She blinked then nodded, her mind numb, as she let him pull her away to safety. Braxton stumbled as someone landed another punch to his head then his gut. His companions were suddenly joining the fray, crying their outrage at his being out numbered. The Orc he had knocked into the table was unconscious and forgotten. He couldn't see the girl anyway but could only assume she had gotten out of the way or Akil had had enough sense to rescue her before she got hurt. he had just enough time to register this thought before a chair broke his nose, sending him staggering backwards and onto his rump. With in minutes it was an all out brawl. By the time it had ended, he was sore, covered in blood and bruises, and barely able to see out of his right eye. many of his friends also suffered injuries. He managed to make his way outside where he slumped against the wall.
Saturn, though at the age of 18, was not at all opposed to holding Akil's hand. The male had such a calming essence about him that she gave in to the childish act and allowed him to lead her outside. The fighting had ended and she could see many were hurt. Some groaned, others weren't even conscious. Akil sighed softly, when he spotted Braxton trying to nurse his wounds in an alley. The well muscled male looked up at them when they approached and grinned, showing a missing tooth. " 'Ow..did I 'oo?" He asked, his broken nose making words difficult. Akil shook his head. "The owner is very displeased and is considering banning you for life..." Braxton snorted and winced. "No...'e wouldn' do 'at". He suddenly spotted Saturn and quickly stood. "Your 'afe...'ank 'od.." Akil smiled faintly. "Braxton..this is Saturn...shes a nymph of sorts I think". Saturn blushed faintly when Braxton picked up her hand and kissed her fingers delicately. "it's an honor,"he said thickly. "'ease..awow me to sow 'oo ar'nd when 'ings 'alm dow a bi". Saturn flushed. "Um..sure..." Braxton grinned and bowed stiffly, before suddenly collapsing.
