Her hair blew back violently and an aura of blue surrounded her. Her eyes widened in shock and she pulled back her hand violently.

“What the hell?” Angela regarded her with wonder while Tenshi simply tried to get as far away from Michaël as possible. “What the hell did you just do?” she glanced around at the rest of the room and was surprised to see that most of them had managed to escape when the demon had appeared.

“Nothing to hurt you I assure you.” Michaël replied quickly taking a small step forward only to have her trip over the seat. He stopped his advance and turned to his friend who had a disinterest in the proceedings, “Why don’t you talk to her Ayden?”

“I don’t want either of you near me.” Tenshi semi cried holding her hands in front of her as she scrambled back.

“Hold on there partner.” strong arms caught her as she slipped and nearly bashed her head on the edge of another seat. “They really aren’t gonna hurt you hun.” Tenshi looked back into the calm and caring eyes and frowned.

“Maybe you can say that Kaori, but when was the last time one of these bozos did something to you?”

“Yesterday.” Tenshi pulled away and looked her over properly. Kaori smiled as the brunette began to see the slight and constant shift that kept occurring with her eye, specifically the darkening and lightening of the green. “Figured it out yet?”

“No way.” Tenshi breathed

“Kaori is a half angel of earth.” Ayden said slowly, managing to put his hands on Tenshi’s shoulders as she absorbed the knowledge of her friend’s nature.

“You’re…” Angela’s voice stuck and she looked away.

“Still the same me.” Kaori continued. “I just shake things up more.”

“And we will need to take these students out of here for the while.” Michaël stated, barely looking at the principal.

“All of them?” he demanded looking around, glaring at the students who were still in the hall and looking rather pleased with how things were beginning to turn out when Michaël replied

“No. simply those directly involved in what happened here… specifically, Tenshi and her friend.” the bell rang to officially end the assembly. “I may require Kaori’s presence as well.” he continued. In turn, the principal ordered the rest of the students to go to their classes, before he lost any more of his rights as the head of his school. Tenshi sighed and slumped back into her seat, not bothering to look at anyone until the rest of the student population, grumbling all the way, left the hall along with the teachers.

“What’s your plan now?” she asked as Angela sat next to her.

“Take you home.” Tenshi looked at Michaël with more than a little reprehension.

“I have classes to go to. And there’s no way I can explain going home this early.” Tenshi shrugged and flashed him a half smile.

“You can’t seriously be passing up a chance to miss school are you?” Kaori said gasping, her eyes finally staying at their normal deep green. Tenshi looked away and Angela grabbed her hand tenderly

“Why do we have to miss class though?” Tenshi muttered “It’s not like anything really big happened. A demon attacked me and I survived, big deal.”

“Yes it is.” Ayden replied looking away “Especially if you are an angel. More so if you’re human.”

“Wait, Angel?” Angela turned to him incredulously. “You think Tenshi’s an angel?” Tenshi let out a dry laugh but said nothing.

“There’s no way you’re getting me to leave school to go home anyway.” Tenshi said, suddenly getting up and slipping her hand out of Angela’s “So excuse me, but I’m already late for class.” from the pile of ashes that was still on the floor, a dark shadow appeared and began trailing after her almost imperceptibly while Kaori reached for her hand.

“It’s not that bad you know.” She said before Michaël or Ayden could say anything. “Being an angel is like being human, with more responsibilities.” Tenshi looked at their joined hands before she ripped hers out of Kaori’s

“I just want to be normal. I don’t want to be the Miracle Child, I don’t want to know what happens to angels in the war, I don’t want to feel the pain of loss… I just want to be me. Is that really too much to ask?” a sinister laugh emanated from what seemed to be all around them and all of them whirled around to locate the new presence, their eyes resting on a dark form that floated above the edge of the stage. Eyes were hidden by a mop of black hair that cascaded down broad shoulders but revealed a sinister smile of fang-like teeth.

“Brava.” the voice still echoed as the figure began to clap, his face fixated solely on Tenshi “Such a wonderful performance, I would truly believe that you really wanted to be human simply from your outburst… fate truly is cruel isn’t it?” the voice began to get more and more pronounced as the figure glided forward. He seemed to be cloaked in nothing but shadow and he stretched his arms out, almost as though asking for a hug, before bringing his palms together in a resounding clap that shook the paint from the walls. Amanda, Tenshi and Kaori covered their ears from the blast while Ayden found himself behind Tenshi, with his hands on her shoulders. Without a word the floor beneath them seemed to open up while she stared at the apparition before them in shock, her eyes seemed to be void of emotion and thought, and just as they were beginning to sink through the floor, Kaori took Angela by the arm and dragged her to Ayden’s side. As they disappeared from view, they happened to see Michaël surrounded by whirling winds to keep the demon from reaching them…

~~~~~
“What…?” Angela’s voice came out shakily as she reached for something other than Kaori’s arms to keep her from falling face first into the ground. They were now in a well furnished room with Tenshi seeming more than a little dazed.
“Portal.” Kaori said shrugging as her hand slipped out of Angela’s “I figured you would want to come with Tenshi.” Angela fidgeted for a bit before taking Tenshi away from Ayden and guiding her to the couch.
“How did you know where to bring her?” She demanded as he took up a position opposite them, leaning next to the fireplace. He turned to Kaori then looked back to Angela.
“I kinda actually led the way here.” she said still looking at Tenshi “Is she alright?” Angela turned her attention back to Tenshi who was still looking dazed, and not really sure where she was yet. Angela raised her hand to Tenshi’s face and turned her to look into her eyes. After a moment Tenshi blinked and frowned. Angela let her hand drop as Tenshi began to look around.
“How did we get here?” Kaori found a seat on one of the chairs along the wall, satisfied that Tenshi was fine. Angela rolled her eyes
“That guy brought us via some portal thingy.” she said nodding to Ayden who was looking remarkably nonchalant.
“I said I didn’t want to come here.” Tenshi’s eyes seemed to flash red
“You didn’t really put up much of a fight.” he replied shrugging. “It would be better for you to be here now anyway.”
“Really? And why is that?” Tenshi made to stand, but Angela kept her down
“Because you were focused on something other than what was going on right in front of you.” Another voice said simply. They turned to see Michaël enter the room. His once perfect shirt was now ripped in places at the chest and arms. He stretched and faced Tenshi and Angela seriously. “I have a feeling that that was not the first time you were affected by a demonic presence.” Tenshi looked away.
“What does it matter?” Michaël came directly in front of her and knelt down
“It matters because if you are an angel then you need to be trained. It isn’t safe for you here.”
“It wouldn’t be safe for me there either.” Tenshi countered, throwing him for a loop. “Why are there so many angels here now, huh? Why is the war spilling onto earth?” Michaël fidgeted while Ayden still looked strangely impassive, his icy eyes staring at a spot on the wall.
“It’s hard to explain right now.” Michaël whispered
“Really.” Tenshi turned and sighed as a golden retriever bounded into the room, sniffing Kaori briefly before coming to rest before Tenshi. A smile broke out on Tenshi’s face as the dog tilted it’s head before putting its front paws on her lap demanding attention. “Hey Maru.” she said putting a hand gently on his head and scratching around his ears. He let out a soft bark, which cause Tenshi to smile some more. Angela turned to Michaël
“Why can’t you explain now?” Kaori stood up and left the room while Ayden raised an eyebrow at the teen “What’s so difficult to explain?”
“You are human.” Maru slipped off of Tenshi’s lap with a content doggie smile on his face and lay down, belly up as Michaël turned to look into the empty fireplace.
“So if I was an angel it would be different?” Tenshi hand landed on Angela’s lap just as Angela was about to get ready to vent.
“Why do you have to treat humans so differently to angels?” Tenshi asked “Are we below you?”
“Humans and Angels are significantly different beings. We have our own rules and by-laws that we have to follow. I can not tell a human why the war is spilling on earth…” he paused and looked at Ayden without really meeting his eye. Angela turned her wrath on Ayden with an arched eyebrow
“So are you just gonna stand there?” Ayden turned his head very slightly and gave her a small smile
“You could be more polite.”
“I could, but I’m not gonna.” Tenshi smiled and rolled her eyes, turning her attention to Maru when he whined.
“The barriers between the worlds are weakening.” Ayden said simply turning his attention to the window now. Tenshi paused in her movements as a sudden chill ripped through the room causing Maru to whine and sit up.
“And what could be the cause? What is the reason behind the weakening of the barrier?” the voice from before echoed within the house. “Is that all the information you’re willing to divulge to the poor, pathetic, human?” in the last three words, the same dark figure, cloaked in his own darkness stepped, seemingly, out of the wall. He tilting his head back, revealing coal black eyes with a line of red trailing from the right socket. He grinned and began to move forward, only to be stopped by Michaël.
“Take one more step towards her Korn and I will send you to your purgatory.” Michaël threatened.
“But that is all you can do after all… I mean, what with what you did to all the true fires and all.” a blast of air shot through the air, leaving a gaping hole in Korn’s chest. He chuckled evilly before turning his attention to Tenshi “The wonderful child… the Miracle Child… heh, I didn’t actually think I would be able to see you before the others got to you.” his teeth gleamed and Maru growled. Korn turned his attention back to Michaël and Ayden, “Maybe you should tell her what you intend to do… though, her being an angel…” another blast of wind went through him as Tenshi suddenly doubled over and screamed holding her head. “Tell her what really started that fire.” he called over Tenshi’s scream as it rose in its intensity. Flames leapt into the fireplace and on the candles around the room, flaring up to impossible heights as her hair began shifting between blue, red and her normal dark brown rapidly.
“No way…” Angela’s lips formed the words, but it was as though no sound came out as Tenshi straightened as the flames were now starting to form around her hands and her screams intensified. Korn’s face betrayed his shock, then satisfaction as the fire was dampened by Ayden. His satisfaction, however, was short lived as he was blown apart by a third blast of wind. Angela was now trying to calm Tenshi down, but afraid to touch her for fear of being burned. Ayden moved from his spot next to the fireplace and put his hands directly over Tenshi’s making her scream, if possible, louder than before… but it was a different scream… A pained scream. Tenshi’s eyes flew open to reveal brilliant red orbs etched in pain.
“Calm yourself Tenshi.” her scream cut off at the gentle power of his voice and her breathing began to come in broken gasps as another scream threatened to overpower her again. Kaori was in the door way looking in apprehensively as Ayden’s hands glowed visibly. Tenshi whimpered and fell out of his arms and into Angela’s as her eyes shifted back to their normal emerald green and slipped close. Angela looked up at Ayden who had an emotion other than indifference on his face now as the flames died away, leaving no evidence of their existence.
“So what happens now?” Kaori whispered from the doorway, her face registering shock. Michaël moved over to Angela’s side and touched Tenshi’s forehead. Tenshi’s eyes fluttered open briefly before closing again.
“I’m sorry.”
“You’re sorry?” Amanda looked at him incredulously “Why? What are you going to do?” Michaël looked at Ayden, who nodded slowly.
“We’re going to have to take her… with us… I’m sorry.” his eyes stayed on Angela’s for a long moment before comprehension dawned on her.
“You, you can’t…” Michaël looked back to Tenshi, a sad smile playing on his features
“I’m sorry… this is how it will have to be, at least for now…” Kaori came up behind her and touched her shoulder
“Knowing Tenshi, you’ll see her again, soon.” Angela clenched her jaw and looked away, tears brimming in her eyes.
“I can’t stop you anyway…” Michaël took Tenshi from Angela, giving her another sympathetic smile before walking through the portal that was made by Ayden while they were talking. Kaori’s hands left Angela’s shoulders and she cast one last glance at her before she too stepped through the portal…
