On fiery Grounds
Back in the Fortress in hell, I move to my Area. I enter my rooms there to get myself cleaned and dressed up for work. My rooms are dark colored. The furniture is colored in ebony and the wall is a cream white, while the floor is red colored. Blood red. The furniture is scanty, I don\'t need much. Walking across the Living room to the Bath room I start to undress myself. My shirt falls behind the Main entrance door, followed by my heavy boots at reaching the Bar in the Living room, just to be followed at the Bath room door by my leather pants. Stepping under the hot water stream of the shower I wash my hair and body. Leaning my arms against the wall, my forehead rested on them, while the hot water flows over me, I\'m thinking about my live. For a Demon, I\'m very, very young. But I showed skills and talents that others not have in this young age. So I was called to the council, who gave me this position. They call it a honor, I call it a punishment. The only reason, why I\'m still alive, is that my Human half died. Why my other half is a demon I don\'t know, no one tells me, but they behave like I\'m a shame for all Demons. When I ask, I always get the answer that I\'m to young to understand the circumstances and that I will be told by the right time. Thinking about my Human past, my family, let bloody tears fall from my eyes. I shake my head to get that thoughts out of my head and leave the shower. Surrounded by water steam I look into the huge mirror on the wall. It shows a really beautiful face, long red hair and green, bright eyes surrounded by tiny, red colored runes. Every one of them standing for a fire spell I learned in my training time when I arrived here. A short and hard time. Nothing but a bad memory, to let me suffer in the night, when this times comes alive again in my nightmares. Also the rune on my back is hard earned. Demons aren\'t been born with wings. They are given as a gift for special jobs and talents. Looking over the rest of my still wet body, I see the rune surrounding my navel. Getting this rune was a path of pain, fear, fire, ashes and self hate. But it brought me something really rare. I smile by thinking about my companion. With a sigh I turn around to the door to get dressed for work. I have to meet the council this morning to get my new orders. Dressed in my armory, I leave my rooms and head to the council.
Meetings with the council are never fun. I enter the council hall and kneel down, looking to the floor. The hall is hold in black marble with gold and red gold. The Demons in front of me are dressed in their council robes and sitting in a half circle on opulent chairs. One of them, I fear the most, stands up and begins to speak.
“Pyro, you are called in today, because we have a very important assignment to handle. And you will do it for us.” Vuldur\'s voice sounds arrogant like always.
“There is a half blooded creature out there. Half demon, half elf. He has powers, that are important for us. Bring him here. We will see, how useful he will be for us. He don\'t know about his powers, but he has to know, because he has to fulfill his destiny. Go and bring him here. You got 24 hours to do the job. We trust in you, boy. Don\'t disappoint us!” With a gesture he ended his speech and I was released.
Vuldur must not say what will happen to me if I fail. He was my trainer in the first years here and watched me getting my runes. Dark brown short hair, a face that never seems to laugh with merciless steel grey eyes. Vuldur never leaves scars on the one he hurts. The scars are hidden in the soul and the heart of his victims, that are called his pupils.
Outside of the hall, my friend Nyl is waiting for me. He give me an example of the essence of the half-demon who has gotten my target. It smells like red roses and pure innocence.... That would be enough to find him.
“Good luck, Pyro. That guy is scary, no one took the job before. Come back in one piece, ok? I don\'t want to think of you as a memory.” He smiles at me, patting my shoulder.
“I do my best as always, dear. I mean, what can be so difficult about that job. He must be lonely and to come here is his best choice... even if that will be a hard time for him here in the beginning.” I reply.
“Who knows that better as you my friend. Let\'s hope his trainer will not be Vuldur. When you come back, bring him to the council straight away. If both of you are alive after that, we have dinner at my rooms. Don\'t be late...” he nods and smiles at me.
I turn around to open my fire gate and step back into the human world. A mixed blood is rare, and no one knows which powers are sleeping inside of them. Humans have a short life. But demons and elfs are both long living creatures. Love affairs between different races are forbidden. Half blooded could carry the power of both parents. Human and demon mixed up is not that mess, because the power comes from only one part. But elfs has their powers too. If he has kind of Druid powers, that could be a really rare power. Even that would be enough to take him to hell. But why is the Fire section so interested in that kid? No time for thinking about that, I have to find him! Following the smell of his essence I find him in a very bad part of that town. Daylight is fading and gives the scenery a magical touch.
The orange-red fireball sinks behind the slowly darkening skylines and dips everything in this alley in a warm red and gold light. The warm feeling coming from the scenery, changes into something bad, when I realize that guys who are playing bad games with my target.
\'When someone plays games with him, it will be me!\' The thought shut through my head out of nowhere. I still don\'t know this kid. But I feel there is a weak bond between us. And it gets stronger with every second I\'m around him. Soundless I\'m landing in the alley. The five guys backs are round 8 Meters in front of me. The leader talks so I lean against the wall and try to listen what is going on. Grazes, blue marks and little cuts are all over his face and bare chest, his t-shirt is in shreds, his jeans zipper open.
The boys eyes are colored in a deep purple, a really rare color for both races. The fear in his eyes touches my heart a bit. Did I looked like that in my first days? The guys were just playing with him. He could easily beat those trash up in a moment. A knife against that powers I can feel inside of him? I hardly holding back my laughter. Why doesn\'t he use his powers? I have seen enough from that. The pain in this innocent eyes is way too much.
“Hey guys, if you want to play, why don\'t you take someone who is able to deal with you?” My voice sounds calm and playfully. A trap.
“You think, you can give us what he denies? What the hell you think you are? A knight in shining Armour? You are crazy! We are five against one! Do you think that you can stop us? All?” The leader laughs out loud while turning around to me.
I lean against the wall of the backside of a house. My arms are crossed in front of my chest. I just wear my normal minimum of Armour. That means just my bare chest, my cuff Armour, my leather pants, my leather boots who are ending above my knees and are covered with gold metal fittings, completed by my weapons, two long daggers on each side, stacking in scabbards that are fixed on my leather belt. I\'m dressed in black, a nice contrast to my creamy white skin and the blood red hair. My green eyes are spitting fire and I feel the Elemental Powers awake in my blood, setting it on fire and ready to break free violently.
The leader of the five laughs out loud by looking all over me. But I\'m not that helpless how I look like. They will learn that. Soon.
“Let the boy go with me away...” I insist.
“Of course not. We are just about having some fun with him. If you like you can join us...” he smirks at me.
I sigh and shake my head no. This men are so stupid. Humans are so... childish. They can\'t see they are in danger even when it jumps on them.
“Come on little one. Let\'s go. They can\'t keep you here. They have no chance to harm you anymore.” My eyes narrows when I recognized the fresh wounds in his face and all over his small chest. I reach out my hand to the boy to make him move.
Slowly he stands up, his back pressed on the wall in fear. His wonderful purple puppy eyes are filled with tears and they are opened wide in fear and panic. My heart aches and bleeds to see him like that, my soul screams to hold him tight and safe....
The scared boy looks helpless up to me. With a growl I start to move closer to the scene.
“Hey, you are welcome to join us. We just started and there will be so much more fun.... hey, wait! What are you doing? What is that? My clothes... are burning. Help me! Don\'t smile that way like you enjoy to see me burning! What the hell are you? A f*****g Monster? F**k! Piss off and go to hell!” the leader screams suddenly in fear. My smile brightens up as I answer.
“Go to hell? But dear, why should I? They send me from there to bring in this kid. You call me a Monster? Oh, that hurts me so much. I\'m not one of that brainless little creatures from the nightmare section. If you want to call me something, you can call me a demon. To be exactly, a fire demon. And now... I will have some fun with you!”
The four others notice that I am going to take their toy away and their leader is badly in danger, what he isn\'t because the flames are dancing across the clothes and they are giving no heat. They let go of the boy and turn to me completely. I rise up one brow in a questioning manner and wave them to come near. A dark smile on my face appears. The daggers in my hands I wait for their attacks, taming down the hungry beast in me, to burn them simply to ashes. The only fun you can have with humans is in a body fight. Humans have no magical or Elemental powers, that\'s why they are only good for a body fight. In the winkle of my eye I realize the boy knock out on the floor. Shit! Fun must wait. The boy is more important than my fun. So no fight, just the scary show. I breath in deeply and concentrating on my Elemental Powers. To scare them I set on a show. Humans are so easy to scare....
“Element that is bound to me, hear me please, answer my call. Ghost of my blood element, fighting spirit of the flames – come to me! Be my weapon!”
Fire circles are leaving my Fingertips, melting to one big circle that looks like a gate and somewhere deep inside the burning circle appears a creature. His shape is like a wolf, but he only exists from flames. I hear the dark growl of the fire spirit inside my head and I smile.
“These are my enemies. Take care of them.” My voice sounds cold and aggressive.
\'Just scare them near to death, but leave them alive, I\'m no murderer at all.\' My mental voice sounds amused. I like the thought of them running in fear...
\'As you wish my friend.\' the spirits answer growls through my head.
The spirit jumps into the group, spitting fire to the ground, howling and growling. The five starts to run, I can hear them scream from the end of the alley in pure panic.
Turning back to the boy, my smile fades away. My glances are taking in his whole presence. The short black hair, looking a little messed up, his puppy purple eyes, this sweet girl-like features and the small wounded body. Looking at his injuries I shake my head in disbelieve. How can creatures be so cruel? Hell, he is just a child. A beautiful and very cute child! Why am I so protective over him? He is just a target. Nothing else. I know nothing about him. Picking him up, I open my gate back to the fire section. When I pass the gate, I feel my companion jump next to me.
\'How far where they running?\' I ask with a smirk.
\'To the next quarter of this town. I was bored so I let them run and returned.\' the spirit grumbles.
\'Well done, my dear. Lets go back to get rid of the target.\'
\'He is so tiny... and looks so breakable.\'
\'His weight is like a feather... I wonder what he has been through.\'
\'Perhaps we get some answers when he awakes.\' the dark voice sounds worried. We arrive at a hallway some corners away from the council hall. We walk across the long floors and halls in silence. Near the council hall a messenger calls me.
“Pyro, go in to the council. They are waiting for you. They have new orders for you. …. Good luck!”
I turn to the open gate that leads to the council. Walking into the hall I look down into the face of the sleeping boy.
\'A sleeping angel.\'
Protectively I hold him tighter by reaching the center of the hall.
“So you found him. Why is he injured?” Vuldur ask with narrowed brows.
“He was in trouble when I found him in that alley. I dealt with the five man and returned quickly. Do you have new orders for me, Master?”
“You will guard him until we decide what kind of training he will need. You will also be send back to your normal job.” Vuldur\'s voice sounds cold like always. Emotionless.
Seeing his eyes resting on the boy in my arms makes me freeze inside. I don\'t let him play with an innocent child! I have seen too much what I shouldn\'t have seen. His dirty tricks don\'t work on me anymore and he knows that.
“Take him to bed and make sure this wounds will heal. I wish you a peaceful night, my pupil.” he releases me with a cold smile.
Inside my mind I can hear the fire wolf growl in anger aggressively. A peaceful night? In hell? What a joke! I take a deep breath to tame the spirit down and leave the council hall to go to my rooms, another night, another nightmare about to come, with the small body still in my arms, my eyes are filled with worry and a protective fire burning deep inside me...
\'Eiael.... will I see you again? Will I ever feel save again wrapped up in your arms?\' Why do I wish so bad to see him again? He only causes danger to me, to my soul, to my heart...
The main door to my rooms falls shut behind me and the darkness falls into my soul. Bloody tears are running down my cheeks. My heart aches and I feel lonely inside, so helpless, useless. I never wanted to care for someone else again. Until the night I met Eiael. I felt alive and save, warm and protected, so loved. He gave me something very important back in that night: Hope! Looking down at the boy in my arms I hardly can\'t breath. Perhaps I see Eiael never again, but I can be there for this boy. He will need someone here in hell who he can trust. Sliding down to the ground with my back to the door, my body is hardly shaken by sobbing into the silky hair of the sweet little cutey in my arms. A helpless and worried howling spirit beside me makes me squeeze the tight body even more, my cries sounding mad and sick, a mirror of my tortured soul.
