Chapter Three: Jelly’s Beans

The rest of the weekend went by quietly, but Alex didn’t really mind it. He was actually looking forward to the new school day as he quickly got dressed. Today he was thinking about actually asking out his sexy teacher. He didn’t think the man would say yes, but he had to try, right? The teen decided that he wouldn’t go back to Andrew again unless he was desperate to lose his virginity, which he didn’t think he was. It would just make things easier on him if he already knew some things, but actually getting someone to do that for him was so difficult…

His classes flew by quickly since his mind was preoccupied the whole time. He wasn’t even that hungry as he walked slowly to the cafeteria. He looked up when he made it inside the crowded room, his eyes pinpointing Lance right away.

If Alex ever decided to settle for boys his own age, Lance would definitely be at the top of his list. Still, the teen felt as though his new friend was straight, until he saw another boy start talking to him. Sure, it was normal to for boys to talk to each other if they were friends, but when this new boy actually put his lips on Lance, Alex felt a jolt of jealousy strike through him, but then Lance pushed him away. He was… smiling about it, though.

The young blonde shook his head. He didn’t have a crush on Lance! He didn’t! But then why did he feel so jealous after seeing such an affectionate gesture? Maybe I’m just jealous because… I want someone to kiss me like that, he tried telling himself, sitting down at his own lunch table. No one stopped by to sit with him today.

While he was walking to his classroom, Alex tried to keep his mind on his task. Just ask him out… Just ask him out… It’s a simple yes or no question with a simple yes or no answer… When he walked into the room, he saw his teacher. He felt tongue-tied whenever he was near him, and he quietly took his seat.

Alex didn’t pay much attention to the lesson at all that day. He kept staring at the teacher, wondering how it would feel to have those lips on his own, to be held by those strong arms, that soothing voice whispering sweet words in his ear…

When class was over, he walked over to the man, nervousness coating his determination. When his teacher flashed that friendly smile at him, Alex did his best not to just start blushing right then and there. “What is it, Alex?” the man asked him.

“Um… Mr. Thompson… I have an important question for you.”

“Sure, what is it?”

The teen let out a deep breath to calm himself, then asked, “Will you go out with me?”

Mr. Thompson’s smile quickly vanished off his face. “Alex… that is against the law. Plus I don’t see you that way. You are my student and I will help you with your education, but that is all. I’m sorry.”

“Oh… okay…” He knew this might end up happening, but it still stung. “Goodbye.”

Alex bolted out of the room. Now his teacher knew that he was interested. What if he decided to transfer Alex out of his class? I shouldn’t have told him, the boy thought sadly, running through the streets. I should have just kept quiet! He kept running, ignoring the shouts of his name. He didn’t want to see anyone now. He just wanted to be alone…

He sat on a bench in the park for hours, watching random couples walk by. He felt so alone, especially as the sun went down. He expected it to start raining, to match his mood, but the skies stayed clear. It grew darker and darker, but Alex still didn’t want to go home. He knew his parents wouldn’t be searching for him anyway. They had better things to do than wonder where their son was every minute of the day. He stayed out well into the night before; it was nothing new to them.

Tonight, though, he was starting to regret not going home earlier. There weren’t as many lights around here like there was at their old home. He was starting to feel a little scared, looking around at all the shadows on the trees and ground. Standing up, he felt like anyone could come up behind him and attack, and his fear strengthened when he heard a rustling in the bushes.

He took off, running at full speed, until he crashed into someone on the sidewalk, falling back with a thump. “Ow…” Looking up, Alex saw who he ran into, realizing it was the boy that had kissed Lance before. “Uhh, hello.”

“Hi,” said the other boy, glancing at Alex and then staring at him.

“I’m sorry for crashing into you like that… I wasn’t watching where I was going,” the multi-colored teen tried to explain, just before the other boy suddenly wrapped his arms around Alex’s neck and kissed him, tongue and all.
