Humanity Lost

Humanity Lost

My period of silence is no longer sacred

I fear I’ve lost my soul

I sit and stare blankly at all the dead before me

The bloodlust has taken its toll

They say the first to go is your hesitance to kill

But I don’t know that to be true

For what I lost first I am not sure

I don’t even have a clue

Where do I go from here

My heart starts to wonder

Can there ever be peace on earth?

or will war always tear asunder?

Take pride in your innocence

Least your heart be swayed

There are evil things in this world
and many souls that are stained

Where has our honor gone?

Is that what we lost first?

Or did it die with honesty?

in that final momentous burst

Purity is the next to go

Human hearts are easily tainted

But what is the last of our humanity?

It’s the ability for tears to be painted

Don’t hold in your tears, let them fall, let go of your foolish pride

Watch your step and don’t give in to darkness’s calls

Or our humanity will wilt and die

Our hearts will become as cold as steel when the last tear drop falls
