Harrassment

In her office in the apartment that very evening, Jocelyn hovered over a book, scanning through languages that she thought maybe would solve some of the mystery of the discus that was in her possession.

Vespat had made himself reasonably comfortable on the couch out in the living room, sitting cross-legged with the robe still about his body. The cloth was soft as probably the down of a duckling and he couldn’t help but sniff it in investigation. Didn’t smell like Jocelyn and the musky smell made it stink predominantly of male. His nose scrunched in some disgust but he had to deal with it until his finer clothes dried. To explain things a little to him, Jocelyn gave him a colorful book of pictures of places around the world from a magazine-book called “National Geographic”. He seemed intrigued but then again very lost since he couldn’t read the strange book’s text.

“This world is vibrant…Nothing like the oaises of my home…”He muttered under his voice, his ear giving a slight twitch to the sound of a scrape. Turning his head so he could look out of the corner of his blurry vision, he could see Jocelyn’s plump fuzzy figure walk out of it.

“Want to learn more?”He poked at her from his spot. Vespat heard the sound of the ‘fridge’, so she called it, open and shut with the sucking sound it made.

“Not tonight…I already got an earful this afternoon from your very broad explanation…”Jocelyn grumbled, her lips curling over the edge of a glass with a slight cross-eyed look as she downed a glass of orange juice. Licking her upper lip, she looked at him with a frown. “I want to learn, but not without a pen and paper in my hands.”
“That will take longer if you scribe everything down right now…”Vès huffed, closing the book with a hollow thud and putting it on the coffee table in front of the couch. “I have tons of material at my home world about the Discus that you can read…but…”

“But?”Jocelyn parroted.

“It’s not in common dialect.”Vespat huffed, sitting back with a bothered look. “And it would take forever to go through them.”

“You speak your own world’s language right? Why not just tell me what it says?”She asked, sitting on a big squishy chair which, with a pull of a lever, she could rest her feet on a cushioned platform.

“That would take even longer since it takes a bit to translate into your world’s grammar. It’s far more complex.”He explained briefly.

“If you gave me the basics I could figure it out. The faster I learn things the faster you can go home right? I teach you, you teach me. That’s the deal.”Jocelyn said before taking another drink of juice. “Is that alright for a human to learn it?”

“It’s perfectly fine but there are words not in your language that you would not understand.”He said briefly standing to his feet. “Where do I do the relief?”

“Relief?”

“Um…relieve the body of waste?”

“Oh! Oh the bathroom.”She jumped from her seat, pushing down on the leg rest and setting the glass on the table next to it. Jocelyn motioned for him to follow, stopping at the room. Vespat followed though looked very confused at what she pointed to. It was white, almost looking like a glossy vase with a wide mouth. There was a box of the same kind of material and a small metal tab sticking out of it. “Is it…liquid or solid?”She asked embarrassingly.

Vespat looked down at himself, then up a little at her at a slight angle. “Liquid.”He replied bluntly. Urgently he was ushered in.

“Point and shoot, don’t hit the white, push that tab down to make the waste go away.”Jocelyn instructed. The elf gave her a puzzled look, waddling inside as the woman closed the door. Great, first challenge of this new world and it was something so simple as this. He shook himself out of the robe, adjusting and pushing where he needed to. Finally relief came to him.

Jocelyn stood outside of the bathroom, her forehead pressed against the wall. One thing after the other. Questions through the afternoon, his whining during dinner when he didn’t understand that milk came from animals and not trees. He’d never even SEEN potatoes blended up and mashed with butter and gravy. Honestly, it was grating on her already shortening nerve already. When Vespat came out of the bathroom, successfully pushing the tab and causing the workings to turn the water and make the waste disappear. On the wall quickly to his right, he could see Jocelyn leaned against the wall with an exhausted look.

“Are you…”He asked, bringing a hand up. A solemn shirk followed.

“Just tired. I’ll get your bed ready then head to bed myself.”Jocelyn mumbled, turning away and going to take care of what she needed to do. In another room that was off from the living room, she started to clear away books on the bed, replacing them on their shelves in the room itself and then going to make the bed. The elf helped her out very little, having never really probably made his bed on his own. That must have been nice.

Never have to do anything on his own…

The bed was made and Vespat sat down to test it out. Very squishy but not as soft as his own bed at home. Getting up, he, with some organization to it, moved the sheets back and looked to Jocelyn who watched him with a tired gaze.

“Where do you sleep?”He asked so bluntly, Jocelyn nearly fell back in surprise.

“Why do you need to know?”She asked a little insulted.

“In case I need anything, questions answered…Etcetera…” Vespat said almost a little too innocently.

“None. Of. Your. Business. At least not tonight at least. Work starts in the morning. Go to sleep.”The human woman ordered, the elven guy staring at her like she was crazy. A woman, not to mention a short one, was giving him orders…not that he blamed her. Spending almost two nights sleeping up in trees or hiding in cellars of the the buildings that touched the sky like trees was something that was very uncomfortable. He made no further arguments or insistants and sat on the bed. Jocelyn huffed, moving to the door but stopping to point something out. “Flick this up or down to turn the lights on or off…Good Night Vespat.”

The woman left and Vespat was alone. A long, exhausted sigh escaped his lips, his torso falling back onto the blankets with his arms behind his head. So much progress but no efforts made to get the discus back. Such a triffling thing! If he could just get it and read the inscriptions, nothing more, things would progress more smoothly. Gruffly groaning, he crawled under the covers since Jocelyn had already turned off the lights rudely enough. Sleep took him afterwards.

In the Morning, he was woken up with the sound of a high pitched whistling again, sitting up and covering his sensitive ears. “Graaahhhh!”He shouted before there was a tired apology.

“Sooorrry! I forgot! I’ve got it!”Jocelyn shouted, running around the kitchen and removing the kettle from the heat.

Vespat grudgingly got up out of bed, feeling the cold of the room finally hit him with a flinch of his skin back into the robes. When he stood, he heard something drop off the end, trudging around to see that she’d folded and cleaned up his clothing. At least he didn’t have to wear strange human clothes again. It only took him a few minutes to dress with all of the layers of fabric, stepping out but stopping to sniff his clothing. They smelled oddly good and lacked the smell of potions and herbs. More like Spring Rain. With a nose full of fragrance, he stepped out of the room, down the blank blue walls to the kitchen where Jocelyn stood leaned against the counter with a cup of tea in her hands, another sitting on the counter for him.

“Sorry about that. I’m not used to having a temporary roommate with good hearing.”She muttered before taking another sip. Vespat picked up the mug, sniffing and finding the same kind as before then drinking it.

“Get used to it…And it’s only for a few days.”He said gruffly, taking a long drink and setting the mug down.

“Research takes longer than that.”Jocelyn retorted, crossing her arms with the mug resting on her elbow slightly.

“Then you are slow. How long do you take?”He asked, leaning in slightly with narrowed eyes. Still blurry and getting worse. Vespat saw the woman bite her lip some.

“More than a few days…A few months, give or take a few years…”She said a tad meekly.

Vespat stared long and hard at her, his eyes narrowing more with a smile fading in the distance with her answer. He stopped staring long enough to clear his throat and adjust himself before he strangled her, feeling around the room in search of the discus. He resisted.

“Oh…Then that changes a few things.”Ves hissed, trying not to bite his own tongue.

“Yes…It just means you’ll be staying longer.”Jocelyn said with a roll of her eyes. “And having to live with me for a while. Think you can handle it?”

“Ye of little faith.”He muttered, correcting himself so he was more relaxed and leaning against the counter. This was just irritating! This world was just too noisy and plus, the smell of the woman, fragrant it maybe when he was close, was just too potent. Bringing a sleeve up, he put it under his nose, making it look like he was in deep thought.

“What is it now?”She grumbled.

“You smell funny.” He said bluntly. Jocelyn turned fushia and looked away from him, finishing her tea and setting it in the sink to be washed later.

“So what if I do? Maybe it’ll keep you out of my room.”Jocelyn said, narrowing her eyes at him, almost mocking that he couldn’t see much. Heading out of the kitchen, she retreated to her office. Vespat was not far behind. Her smell followed her like a long, floral trail to the office which was, surprisingly, not littered with papers and such, file cabinets and bookshelves making sure everything was in order.

“For someone who spends time in books, your home is very clean…”Vespat muttered, sitting down in the chair at the desk, nearly jumping back when it started leaning back a little. Gripping the desk, he sat himself back up with a surprised look. Jocelyn couldn’t help but snicker just a little at his reaction.

“I hardly spend time here.”She commented, moving to a shelf and pulling several books off of different languages and ancient symbols.

“Those won’t be of any use.”Ves smirked, standing to his feet. “I’ll have to return to my home plane to retrieve the right ones. Unfortunately, that will be a while…”

“Why is that?”She asked, now more intrigued by where Vespat could really do. The elf beamed an almost seductive smile.

“My powers are at peak around the full moon in this world…I would need to wait until it is full once more to open the dividing portal.”He said, slowly leaning back. The chair, it seemed, could recline much like the one in the living area. Once he got the hang of it, he was remarkably relaxed.

“Dividing portal? Is that what you call a portal to another world?”Jocelyn said, looking over her shoulder at him.

“Not another world. Another dimension of this world.”Vespat huffed, knowing he would have explain himself further. “The worlds are divided into many dimensions. There is this dimension, your dimension and then there is mine. Where there is a dimensional ‘you’ there is another you in my dimension, like a mirror. Most likely, she does something similar to what you do with the same mannerisms. There is also another ‘me’ in this dimension though you probably haven’t seen ‘me’ around yet.”

Jocelyn had taken the liberty of access to a pen and paper, scribbling notes down and drawing things for examples. She seemed satisfied and Ves let out a long breath of hot air.

“So in other words, there’s another ‘me’ in every dimension that acts and does the same things somehow.”She concluded. “Fascinating. I wonder if I have elf ears like you or if I’m something else entirely.”

“Who knows? You might be a Silphit dung examiner.”He teased, getting a glare from the home owner. Jocelyn huffed, leaving it be…for now. She wondered if getting a new alarm clock with the pitch of a dog whistle would change his mind about teasing her. Putting aside her evil thoughts, Jocelyn went to put the books back and set the pad of paper on the desk for now.

“Shows what you know.”She grumbled, going to sit on the top of the desk. Ves took this time to examine her from his leaned back position. Jocelyn was neither lithe nor obese but rather had homeliness to her. The roundness of someone who could care for children with a pleasant face if it didn’t have a scowl on it when he was staring at her. Her hair wasn’t messy because of all the curls, each one seemingly having a place. Back to her face, he examined it a little more. Round, flushed and with a slightly adorable beauty mark just under her right eye even if it was hidden under frames some of the time. Jocelyn’s eyes, in the dim light of the room were dark as pitch with almost made him shiver as she glared down at him.

“What are you gawking at?”Jocelyn asked. Vèspat suddenly noticed that he had been staring at her for longer than necessary, shaking his head to clear his thoughts before moving out of the reclining chair.

“Your foolish human features.”Vès answered as he exited the room. Jocelyn watched him, sitting for a moment longer. Looking down at herself, she felt like she had been eye-stripped down to nothing by his eyes. The feeling made her uncomfortable and she shook it away.

Meanwhile, Vèspat had taken the liberty of stepping out into the hall to catch his breath. His naked hand reached up and untucked the collar of his clothing. Was it him, or was Jocelyn’s dwelling heating up substantially? He dragged his hand down his face, exhaling slowly. Things were going to get more complicated and it was just the first day. Jocelyn made her appearance as she left her small office, immediately turning his direction only to hop out of her skin.

“Jesus Vèspat!”She yelped as she shot a hand to her heart. Her dark eyes shot a look at him, her lips tightening as she fumed. “You scared the daylights out of me! You could give me a heart attack with how much you just pop up out of nowhere!”

Vèspat couldn’t help but manage a slight grin at her expression. This human female could be fun to some degree. Jocelyn marched past him, colorfully swearing up a storm and uttering some foul things about an elf name Legolas. Just who was this that she was talking about? It definitely wasn’t a name he heard of.
Meanwhile, Jocelyn had retreated to her own bedroom to try to divert her attention and expel some of her pent up anxiety.

‘Stupid Elf! He can’t just speak up like a normal human man!’She swore mentally, tossing a pillow onto the bed and flopping down onto it. ‘I’ll die of a heart attack before the full moon comes…’

Vès stood just outside of her doorway, listening to her rampaging in the room that now he figured, was her bedroom. Interesting how it was much larger than his own at the current time. Peeking in, he saw her hugging a pillow, lying on her side with an extremely annoyed look.

“Everything alright or are you giving up?”He asked, teasing but keeping a relatively straight face.

“Beat it.”She growled.

This only intrigued Vèspat more. Just how close could he get before she hit him with that pillow or chased him out of the apartment? Mentally grinning to himself, he walked in with his arms folded in his original robes.

“I take it you are giving up. Figures.” He pushed.

“Figures…Just get out Vèspat…”She retorted.

Vès took this time to get physically closer to the bed, walking to the point he was looking down at her. Leaning down, he was almost eye to eye to her, his hands now on the mattress….which was very squishy and pleasant. It definitely reminded him of his old bedding in his dwelling back on his alternate dimension.

“Why should I? Technically, Am I not living here as well?”Vès continued to provoke her, Jocelyn giving another growl as she gripped the pillow. Another push. The Elf being now walked around to the other side of the bed, removing his robbing and moving onto the bed so he was right behind her. Jocelyn didn’t move but she wasn’t going to let him get the best of her to get what he wanted.

“Well?”He insisted, now lying right behind her, quite snug with himself.

“Temporarily.”Jocelyn finally answered. “Now get off of my bed.”

“Your bed? I think I like this one much better than the closet you’ve got me sleeping in now.”He prodded, giving her an idle poke in the back with his finger.

Jocelyn rolled over, letting go of the pillow and staring at him with an annoyed look. Vespat still looked at her with a squinted look. Stupid elf…still couldn’t see a damn thing in front of his face even if she was only a few inches from his. “My bed. Which you are going to get off. Tonight.”She frowned. Two can play it this game; she knew what Ves was trying to do.

Get her pissed off.

Jocelyn kept rolling until she had rolled on top of him, lying on her stomach while he was on his back. “Fine. I’ll just sleep on you. Hope you like One hundred ninety-two pounds of human on you.”She sighed, purposely snuggling his chest to see if it would weird him out just a little. Vespat’s lower lid only seemed to twitch in agitation. However, he just laid back and stared down at her with his hazel gaze.
“Suits me fine.”He answered with a confident smirk.

The woman gave a huff but didn’t get off. Vespat was perfectly fine with it, resting his head back and snuggled down. He could almost fall asleep like this, the bed far more merciful to his back than the smaller one he had been shoved into.

“You aren’t going to leave are you?”Jocelyn finally sighed.

“No.”

“Fine. I guess you can sleep in here for tonight…Just if I feel you groping anywhere, I’ll throw you off.”She said, giving him a poke. Ves only smiled. Lovely. Another idea in which to annoy her. If she didn’t like being touched, he’d make sure he touched anywhere he could that night.

Jocelyn got off to get dressed in her night clothes, stretching and leaning as she got ready for bed. All of this routine seemed to be what she did all the time, with everything having an organized place. Turning onto his side, he gave her a bit of privacy to change and then rolled back over when she had gotten on the bed, pulling the covers back.

“Want any night clothes?”She offered before she got into bed.

“No thank you. I prefer just the leggings.”He said as he got up in return to her getting onto the bed, removing his last couple of layers until he was just down on those incredibly tight tights and that haunting codpiece that stared at her every time she caught him with his shirt off.

Great.

Jocelyn shut off her side lamp and lay on her side, back to him. If she didn’t have to look at it, then it wouldn’t bother her one bit. Vespat lay behind her, head mushed into the pillows with the rest of him on the down-soft bedding. Oh yeah. Why hadn’t he gone and bothered her before?

“Hey, woman.” Ves prodded, poking her in the back.

“What?”Jocelyn mumbled with her face in the pillow.

“You’re squishy.” He said, a sly smile.

WHATHWAP!

Jocelyn rolled over with her pillow, smacking the cocky elf in the head with it before she rolled back over, hugging it and nuzzling it with a victorious smirk.
