Rose glanced at Scarlet. Scarlet nodded subtly. The other two girls left the locker room. Rose and Scarlet walked to Jen and stood in front of her with hands of their hips.

Lily, Rose, and Scarlet locked arms and strolled to the lunchroom. They grabbed trays, spotted their clan mates sitting with the Fleches, and sat down with them.

“Welcome, ladies,” Scott said with a grin.

They nodded at him.

“You know everyone is staring at us?” Kain said irritably.

“Why wouldn’t they?” Daniel asked and cocked a brow. “The hottest people in school are sitting with each other.”

Scott snorted and rolled his eyes. “Or maybe they’re thinking three lovely ladies are about to be gang raped by seven guys.”

The girls looked at each other and laughed.

“So, Scarlet,” Jaden said with a devious grin. “Is Alec a good kisser or what?”

Scarlet flushed vermillion and glared at Alec.

“I didn’t say a word, Scarlet!” he said, his face somehow paler than before. “I swear.”

Scarlet gritted her teeth and shifted her glare to a laughing Leo. “You’re dead.”

“Wait! So you and Alec have kissed already?” Damien asked with a laugh. “Damn, girl! You’re faster than I thought.”

“I had to feed immediately and Alec offered to nourish me,” Scarlet said coldly. “It’s not like we randomly started making out.”

Her clan mates snickered and laughed, but immediately shut up when Scarlet set her glacial eyes on them.

“Um, so . . . what classes do you have next?” Scott asked.

“Band,” Scarlet said, an edge still on her voice.

Daniel yawned and threw an arm over Damien’s shoulders. “Art.”

“Applied medicines,” Rose and Lily said together.

Damien laid his head on Daniel’s shoulder. “American history.”

“Religious studies,” Kain said boredly.

“I have Band with you,” Alec said to Scarlet quietly.

Scarlet smiled at him. “How nice.”

“What do you play?” Alec asked her.

“I play many different instruments, but today I will be playing the shakuhachi ,” she told him. “It seemed like the teacher was excited when I told him about my musical talents.”

Alec nodded and smiled slightly. “Yes, he should be. We have many wind and percussion players, but not much else.”

Scarlet blinked and suddenly leaned closer to Alec, who blushed. “Oh wow. You have freckles. I didn’t notice before. They’re...cute.”

Leo frowned as he watched Alec speak to Scarlet in his soft, pampered, little poets voice. He had to force himself not to growl when Alec blushed from something Scarlet said to him. If that little mama’s boy wins over Scarlet, I swear to God I’ll kill someone. He sighed and leaned close to Damien’s ear.

“Is Scarlet interested in Alec?” he whispered quietly.

Damien turned his head and smiled at Leo, his sexy blond hair falling into his sea-green eyes. “What? You interested?”

Leo cocked a brow. “Possibly.”

“Well, I’ll find out for you,” he told him.

“Thanks,” Leo said with a grin.

Damien nodded and turned back. Leo leaned over to Scarlet and touched her knee lightly.

“Hey, you guys wanna go to a party tonight? There’s a gonna be a great one up at Mullins Station,” he said in a slow, easy voice.

“Hmm, maybe,” Scarlet said and bit her lip. “I might show up.”

“Hope so,” Leo said and leaned back in his seat.

Scarlet glanced at the clock. “Time to go.”

The vampires and kitsune got up and left the room. They parted and Scarlet walked with Alec to the band room.
