III: Fashion Show
(Characters belong to me and Azathoia)
The days seemed to have flown passed us, and Beaui-Lein and I found ourselves backstage, with a bunch of people running back and forth with clothes. A girl friend of mine came up to me as soon as she saw me. She’s pretty cool. “Oh my god, Gem, there is this really hot band outside.”
“Yeah, Holly, I know.” I smiled at her. “I was the one that suggested them to Abarei.”
“Oh, wow, you have great taste in men.” She finally noticed Beaui-Lein staring at her half-naked body. “Um, is he not…?”
“Sorry, Holly,” I sighed, “but he’s straight.”
“Oh! Uhh, well, it was nice talking to you, Gem!” And she retreated before Beaui-Lein could do any more damage to her. That must be damn embarrassing.
I had to slap Beaui-Lein to wake him up. “Stop day-dreaming about my friend, pervert.” I quietly walked over to the curtain and peeked beyond it. There he was, Ikkaku Reid. I felt my cheeks burn as I watched him, and then he looked over in my direction, his eyes narrowing when he noticed me in particular. Instead of going back behind the curtain, I smiled at him. After a few moments more, I went back behind it again, but only because I had to get ready.
Holly and I were in matching dresses, while Beaui-Lein was clothed in something that looked like it would produce enough heat on its own without the sun’s help. “Haha, how hot is it in there, dude?”
“Shut up,” he growled at me. “Man, why’d I have to cook like this?”
“Because we all wanna eat you,” I told him, grinning mischievously at him. “You’ll be nice and yummy, hmm…” I sat in a chair, ready for the hair and make-up. The lady got to work right away.
“… I don’t even wanna know what’s going on in that head of yours,” I heard Beaui-Lein mumble as the make-up crew started working on him too.
“It’s nice and fun there, though.” I swung my feet back and forth a couple times; I knew I must’ve looked like a little kid, but that didn’t matter to me at all. Ikkaku was here, and that was the best news of all.

The fashion show was going so well. Beaui-Lein was even pulling it off like a professional. Maybe he had modeled as a kid in the past? Everything was going great, well except for the fact that I couldn’t stop myself from glancing at Ikkaku every chance I got.
Once all of my runs were over, I quickly dressed back into my street clothes (all pink today, yay) and went out to stand by Abarei, but I kept watching Ikkaku. Until I noticed that the guy that came with him was staring at me. That was a little unsettling. Though he did look kinda hot himself, with the black hair and blue eyes, I just preferred looking at Ikkaku.
After the show, Beaui-Lein started talking to Holly. I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised… he did see her in her underwear already. I was going to walk over to Ikkaku, but that other guy blocked my way. “Uh, hello,” I told him, a polite smile on my face.
“Hello. I am Ereth Twilight.” He offered his hand in greeting and I shook it. “Are you familiar with Ikkaku?”
“Oh, sort of. He saved my life once,” I confessed. “When I saw him, he was covered in blood though.”
“Oh, was he?” This Ereth guy is kind of weird. “Why did you think that was?”
“Well…” I couldn’t tell him that Beaui-Lein and I were convinced that Ikkaku was a vampire. Either that, or a murderer. Neither story seemed all that likely, though. “I don’t know, but I think I actually dreamed that part up.”
“Interesting,” he murmured. It seemed he wanted to ask me more about Ikkaku, but he suddenly froze. I had no idea what happened, but he quickly turned around and went outside. Something spooked him, I just didn’t know what.

I sighed as I was walking home with Abarei. Beaui-Lein was already on a date with Holly, son of a… “You did great today, Gem.” I smiled at my brother. “You just have to focus on looking straight ahead.”
“Yeah, yeah, I know… It’s just, that Ikkaku guy is so hot, you know?”
He seemed to think it over. “He’s alright.”
I watched him. “You just want Eiri to ask you out already, huh?”
Abarei blushed; I grinned. “Well, yeah… I mean, he’s been hinting at it for over a year now…”
“Haha, Abarei, you make him too nervous to ask you out.”
“How?” he asked, looking up at me.
“Well,” I started, “it’s your cuteness. He gets all shy when you’re around him. It’s so painfully obvious.”
“Is it?” I ruffled his hair a little and nodded. He smiled at me and ran ahead, heading inside the house. I hesitated though, looking back the way we came. I felt as though there was someone out there, watching me. It wasn’t the usual kind of staring, though. This was different. It felt threatening. I sighed and turned back to the house, walking inside. I’m sure it was nothing… Just my imagination again. Like with the blood…
Time to lock the windows.
