Chapter Three

Alexander was at his wits end. Already he had been hounded by Scott Anderson for the last few weeks since he had agreed on becoming the wedding planner for the man's son and fiancé. He really couldn't believe someone giving and kind like Kevin could have come from the loins of a man like Anderson. Kevin had been nothing but eager, willing to take the time to listen to Alexander's considerations and opinions. Though Horner Estate would be a difficult venue to secure, Alexander knew that Kevin really had his heart set on the property and was willing to do everything to accommodate him. Alexander thought of himself as meticulous and patient when it came to his profession, but just the thought of having to spend any time with Scott Anderson had his nerves frayed.

The man had been constantly calling him over the phone, e-mailing him every few hours, sending him various text messages which baffled Alexander considering he had never shared his private cell phone number with anyone. Things at the office had gone back to normal after the Scott Anderson Fiasco, with every planner returning to their duties and respective couples. Micah had been flying to and from New York City all weekend preparing for the opening of 3-Corner's Love new wedding agency. Though Alexander would have originally liked to have overseen it, with the Anderson case and the new trainee's and the oversee of potential agencies his schedule had been quickly filled.

His mother Sylvia had begged him to come home for the weekend as she and his Father never got to see him anymore. It made him feel a little guilty and if he were honest with himself, a little homesick. His mother had been on a never ending mission of finding him someone to settle down with, for as she put it, he was thirty-eight and alone. But he rectified the thought, he wasn't alone because he couldn't find 'anyone' it was because he had other priorities. He 'chose' to be alone, there was a difference.

Happy couples came to him and 3-Corner Love to provide them with an everlasting experience of a wedding that was different from a civil union or commitment ceremony. It was a chance for gay couples to 'marry' through the traditional sense and allow them to experience the honor and beauty that would not be denied to them just because of their sexual preference. His mother had taken it upon herself to make the dreams of many people she knew a reality during a time when those same people were shunned and ostracized. She had allowed Alexander to share in that fulfillment to realizing people's dreams. It was why 3-Corner Love had flourished the way it had. It had built connections when there were nonexistent connections available, from caterers, florists, tailors, jewelers, photographers, venues. 3-Corner Love had been the first to secure its contacts and business affiliates.

Alexander had taken it upon himself to build the business further up. His mother had been perfectly happy having been partners, in fact she would have probably been more satisfied working from his Father's den had she not decided to retire. Alexander believed his Mother's vision was not one to waste, and when he'd inherited 3-Corner Love, he'd begun the search of those who believed in his vision as well.

Micah had been the first person he had hired, the tall blond had flourished under his guidance and was his most trusted employer. Liam the youngest of his planners was all sunny smiles and quick fixes. Ashley was the shyest but no less confident in his abilities to connect with clients. Matthew who'd come out of nowhere, a once Marine who had traded his weapons for the softer fabrics of lace and taffeta. Angelo, his most vocal planner whose temper was as fiery as his attitude but was an impeccable decorator without a doubt. And then there was Raven...the wild child of his team, never shy in expressing himself as Gothic planner.

They had all been exclusively trained by Alexander, and as a result of their dedication and hard work had made 3-Corner Love a success. But now things were wavering. Expanding meant the additional costs, the training of potential planners and the major decision he was afraid to make. Of leaving 3-Corner Love and making the trek to New York City. He had yet to speak with Micah about allowing him to take over the current agency, but in due time Alexander knew there would be nothing holding him back from leaving.

It should have been easy from the beginning. But as it was the introduction of Scott Anderson had become a dilemma he would have never predicted.

Scott Anderson was at his wits end. He'd called, text messaged, e-mailed Alexander Sundance for the past few weeks and each time he had answered. But today all his communication outlets had gone ignored. And Scott was never ignored. Which was why after a frustrating morning he had attacked his morning conference with a 'kill and destroy' attitude, sure that he had made men twice his age quiver in fear. He'd been opting on staying at the office to prepare a counterattack on the Zimmen's family who had been quietly selling off their business stocks to leading competitors. Scott wasn't one to be cuckold and was ready for outright war to smash the Zimmen's, but knew that could wait as he had more pressing matters to attend. Like a certain brunette who seemed to like to say 'no' a lot. And Scott was never one to be told no.

But Alexander was proving to be a challenge, one that Scott had not met in years. He'd already sent out a contact to estimate the worth of 3-Corner Love, as well as a background check on Sundance himself. He'd been surprised that the wedding agency was modest in its annual earnings, digits he spent on a weekly basis. Alexander though, had been a more concerning matter.

At thirty-eight the man was nine years his junior, a nice change considering most of his old lovers were models in their twenties. Kevin had often told him he needed to settle with a man near his own age, of course his son was too young and pretty to understand the wickedness of the world. Including his Father's own.

Scott had built his wealth from the ground up and continued to do so, he was ruthless in the office inside and outside. His old lovers had been chosen for exactly that reason, Scott had never been looking for an equal partner. He had enough stimulus for two men and didn't find a reason of needing to share a life of patterned sex and conversation to be happy. He was alone, because he chose to be alone. He only needed to walk down the street and at a snap of his fingers have some young hot thing on his arm, no questions asked. He'd never lacked a sex partner in his life. Which was why he had incessantly protected Kevin from men like himself.

Usually men like Alexander weren't men he sought after. Alexander was accomplished in his own right. He was older, he was his own boss and he was intelligent. Sex with men like him were never a spur of the moment. They were carefully calculated, they were meant for relationships. Not fucking. No, Scott preferred his model twenty something lovers who he could buy and toss without questions asked.

But even as he thought it, Scott couldn't help but think back on it as his driver pulled up to the front of his building. The man ran to open the door for him,. He settled in the back as the car door shut behind him as he still questioned why his thoughts kept focusing back to Alexander. A few moments later the driver pulled off of the curb, "Home Sir?" he asked.

Was it that intriguing bone structure, that soft wide mouth, those bright blue eyes, those fanning dark lashes? That slim tapered waist, those long sculpted legs, those broad shoulders and trim ass? What was it that called him to Alexander?

"Sir?" asked the driver.

"No, not home," he said, mind made up, "I think I have date tonight."

Alexander went through the planning details with Yvonne his designated caterer. Kevin had wanted red velvet for his cake, and Alexander knew exactly who to go to for that certain flavor. He was just finishing his phone call, finalizing details having visited Yvonne earlier about a design when his other line rang.

"I'll pencil you in for next week for Wednesday, Alexander, at two."

"Thank you Yvonne," they hung up as the other line went through, "Mr. Sundance speaking," he answered penciling in his appointment with Yvonne.

"You didn't answer my calls," berated the voice.

Alexander gritted his teeth and sighed, "Maybe if you called to see how Kevin's wedding was coming along I'd answer. Instead of these games you like to play."

"It isn't a game. Merely a strategy," Scott said slyly.

"A strategy for what? Threatening my business?"

"No, just to weaken your defenses."

"For what?" he asked.

"For getting you into bed."

For a moment all Alexander could do was stay silent before he gathered his thoughts, "I think you're under the wrong impression Mr Anderson, you are my client and nothing more but that. At 3-Corner Love I run a strict policy against client and planner associating outside of wedding planning and I don't plan on breaking any rules, especially my own."

He chuckled, "You think you can easily get rid of me like that? I'll tell you what, I'm sending my driver to pick you up at your office, he'll take you to meet me for dinner, and after wine and dessert you can decide whether a night spent with me in my hotel room isn't worth breaking a few rules. What do you say?"

"I think I have to say goodbye Mr Anderson." Alexander hung up the phone and put it back on the receiver. He took off his glasses and placed them on his desk before rubbing his hands across his face.

A knock on the door broke him out of his thoughts as he stood straighter in his seat, putting his glasses back on he called, "Come in," and watched as the door opened to reveal a put off Scott Anderson on the other side.
