Morning song
Basia had a day off so she just ignored the morning song. She hated mornings and was voluntarily awake in the time of morning song only if she had stayed up all night. There was something magical in seeing the full change of days, even if it meant having hard time doing her chores later.
The first signs of winter were in the air and Silas was happy his protegeé was able to stay inside for the day. He ended the morning song a bit earlier than usually and decided to move the notifications for next day. Nikolaus had accused him of spoiling the girl but Silas thought she didn't really get that sort much. Cassie was very fond of her, but she didn't visit the Tower often. Cassie's ideas of spoiling differed from the things the girl really craved. There wasn't much use for lovely dresses and cosmetics in the Tower, and to be quite honest those things really didn't do much to Basia. Her unconventional looks were only accentuated when she was dressed in fashionable colors and cuts. Some young man had called her ugly, but that really didn't describe her even if she had many features which were considered unattractive.
Silas stopped just in time to avoid crashing into a group of apprentices. He was amused to notice the creativity young have these days when he spotted a rude symbol on one boy's self made book cover. It was styled to look like an animal, but still was recognizable if you knew what to look for.
Scrubbing the walls more often and having angry parents visiting Tower was a small price to pay if mischief was the only thing boys were up to. Still, in a way he had to admit he was losing his grip. He had more often noticed he forgot what he was doing and his archery skills were now less than required from a keeper. When Basia had proved herself to be a great student and surprisingly patient he had for a while thought he could start training a follower. Tower had never had a woman as a keeper but Silas was certain it could have been done.
Silas shook his head when he found himself from the kitchen. He was supposed to be in the mailroom by now, sorting letters before lunch time.

Thank you for your time :)Chapters are short for now, and will continue to be until I get properly started with the story.
