They finally arrived at Vincent’s house after a ten minute drive. “Here we are.” Damien said with a smile on his face.
Vincent looked at him ‘He’s always smiling, even at the most mundane things he has a smile on his face, it’s so odd.’ He thought to himself as he and Damien got out of the car.
“Just so you know my brother is a little douche bag, he cant keep his comments to himself, and doesn’t know when to stop, so feel free to hit him if need be.” Vincent said, a smirk adorning his face
“Alrighty.” Damien said as he followed Vincent into his house.
Lucky for them David wasn’t home yet neither was his mother “Well we should probable get started what artist would you like to take care of?” Vincent asked as they move up stairs to his room, then thought ‘Wait, I don’t know if he knows anything about Art what so ever…’
Just before Vincent opened his mouth Damien opened his “Well that really depends where your focus is… If its early renaissance I would have to go with Botticelli but if it’s the late renaissance I would have to go with Norway’s Brugel, personally.” Damien smiled at Vincent’s dumb struck expression “What, am I covered in blood or do I have a second head?” Damien asked sarcastically as Vincent continued to stare.
“Not even some of my closest friends would know who Brugel is…where did you learn about renaissance artist?” Vincent was genuinely curious he has never bumped into someone with the knowledge of any artist past Picasso or Davinci so to hear those names threw him off a bit.
“Oh.. I took an art history class at my old school and… well I really enjoyed it.” Damien’s smile grew a little larger.
“Well my friend, I do believe we are going to have a very, lasting friendship.” it was Vincent’s turn to smile at Damien and they got down to business.
*******
After a couple hours of work, they went down stairs for dinner “Hey Mom?” Vincent called out as he turned the corner into the kitchen “Yes sweetie, oh, who’s your friend?” his mother said as she looked over his shoulder.
“Exactly what I want to talk to you about, can my friend, Damien, join us for dinner?” he made his best puppy dog eyes.
“Well of course sweetheart, I do hope you like pizza cause we’re going to have a whole lot.” she put emphasis on this by flailing her arms a little bit.
Damien smiled, he liked her style “Yes ma’am” as he and Vincent went back upstairs to his room to wait for dinner to be ready.
About ten minutes later they heard the call for food and ran down stairs. Damien took the seat next to Vincent, and his mother began to set the out the food.
That’s when David decided to stroll in, and his eyes were drawn to the unfamiliar face, the thought ‘Fresh meat’ passed his mind but not tonight, no, he had some juicy new material to use against his brother, this guy will have to wait for another time.
“Why hello dear brother of mine, how are you today?” he said with the fakest enthusiasm Damien had ever heard ‘This must be the brother I’ve heard so much about…’ he thought to himself as Vincent and his brother began to bicker.
Vincent waited for his mother to go into the kitchen “Fuck off you little bastard, I don’t feel like fighting you tonight.” he growled out.
David looked at him and smiled viciously “Oh but dear brother, my only concern is for your well being, I just believe that mother needs to know about the fight you got into today with those football players…” Damien smiled at Vincent’s angry expression, ‘What a dick.’ Damien thought to himself as Vincent’s mother ran from the kitchen “What FIGHT did you get into today, are you alright… oh goodness are they alright? Did you hurt them very badly…” his mother kept coming up with different questions to ask him as he was waving his hands in front of him denying the accusations. “NO! Mom everything’s alright… I’M FINE!!!…wait…WHY DO YOU CARE ABOUT THE OTHER GUYS?!!…”
They continued this back and forth to David’s amusement for almost five minutes, his laughter in the background.
All the while Damien just sat there wide eyed at the whole situation, ‘What does one do in this situation exactly…?’ he thought to himself wondering if he should get up and excuse himself or just sit back and watch the show.
David looked over at Damien and decided he had time to mess with this new guy after all, and thought of the perfect way to get a jab in at his brother as well.
“Hey Vince, I know you got broken up with pretty bad, but your already bringing your BOY FRIEND over for dinner don’t you think it’s a little to soon?” everything went dead silent.
Damien’s eyes got even wider ‘How does he know I‘m gay?’ was his only thought, Vincent’s mother was looking at Damien ‘My son is gay?’ was the thought running threw her head, and Vincent looked to his brother with death written on his face.
David burst out in laughter falling out of his chair “I’m going to Kill you!” Vincent said as he ran along the table and began to attack his brother.
Their mother looked at both of them and rubbed the bridge of her nose she sighed and went back into the kitchen. She returned a short time later with a wooden spoon an proceeded to smack her sons heads with it.
The fight soon ended and Vincent took his seat next to Damien, he looked over to see that Damien was looking at him with complete confusion.
“Uhhhh…. Sorry about that, this doesn’t happen that often…”Vincent said his eyes downcast in embarrassment ‘Good job Vincent, finally meet someone who you can go art nerd with, and now you scared him from your house, Fuck… My… Life’ he thought to himself.
“Heh… it’s alright that was actually pretty interesting display… most ummm, funny thing I’ve seen during a dinner, in my entire life.” Damien laughed and smiled at Vincent.
‘Well at least he’s not trying to run out of the house screaming…’ Vincent smiled back at him and the dinner continued in silence.
******
The next month went by with out many problems at all, a few fights here and there with those guys but Damien had been with him each time, so they made it out alive.
Vincent and Damien had become very close over the past month. Vincent had even gone over to his house for dinner, although not as entertaining as his family dinner was, the food was good, and Damien’s parents were nice.
Their project went absolutely perfect, they got the highest grade in the class, and got to exempt the final because of it.
The last hour just stated on the last day of finals week and since Vincent and Damien were exempt they left, getting an early start on their summer, and since Vincent’s truck had never gotten fixed, he depended on Damien for rides for the time being.
They were walking out to Damien’s car trying figure out what they should do to kick off the summer.
“What about bowling?” Damien said throwing out an idea
“No, I kind of wanted to do something out side, you know since its nice out.” Vincent shrugged
“You call this nice out? It’s ninety two degrees out here, it’s like an oven.” a smile creeping onto his face as he complained.
“I know! We could go swimming, beat the rush of people to the pool, before school is let out.” Vincent smiled at the thought of an almost empty pool.
“Yeah, that sounds fun, I’ll take you by your house so you can get your swimsuit, and then we’ll stop by mine.” They got into Damien’s car and headed toward their neighborhood.
********
They arrived at the pool a short time later to find that not only was it empty, they were the only ones there.
“I can’t wait to swim!” Vincent ran over to a beach chair and took off his shirt.
Damien stared at his well toned chest and abs as he took off his shirt and jumped into the pool ‘Hot damn, this boy has a beautiful body…’ he thought to himself.
“Hey are you going to get in or not?” Vincent asked confused as to why his friend wasn’t already taking off his shirt.
“Huh?…Oh yeah let me just get ready.” Damien sat down on a beach chair and began to put on sun screen.
“Hey, what are you doing?” Vincent asked
“Well not all of us tan, Vincent, some of us burn when the sun hits our skin.” he said glaring at him.
“Don’t get mad at me because I’m a bronzed god.” he flexed his arms a bit.
‘Yeah you are..’ Damien thought to himself.
“Well you’ll be a dead Bronzed god in a few seconds if you make fun of my Irish complexion.” Damien said in his defense.
“Alright, Alright, just hurry up and get in I want to show you something.” Vincent eyes were dancing with mischief.
“What…?” Damien asked hesitantly.
“Hurry up and you’ll see.”
Damien finished applying his sun screen moved over to the edge of the pool sat down, and stuck his legs in.
“Hurry up! Jeez you take forever to get in a pool.” Vincent was getting bored he wanted to dunk him but he shouldn’t have to wait this long, Damien just rolled his eyes. Damien was still sitting on the edge of the pool “I personally don’t like the shock of cold water against my skin.” Damien said sporting a mock glare at Vincent.
‘I’ve got an idea, and it kills two birds with one stone…’ Vincent thought to himself as him swam toward Damien.
“What are you doing?” Damien asked considering backing away from the edge but he decided against it.
“Oh…nothing.” Vincent swan to the edge of the pool until he was right next to Damien.
“Are you sure your not doing anything cause it seems like your about to do something” Damien was rethinking his staying by the side of the pool.
Vincent thought to himself ‘One, two, three…Now!!’ He popped out of the water, grabbed Damien around the chest and pulled him into the pool. They both raised their heads out of the water a few seconds later. Vincent started laughing at Damien’s expression, his hair clung to his head and his cheeks were flushed, he looked absolutely pissed and about ready to kill him “Urrrgh!!” Was Damien’s battle cry as he swam toward Vincent, intending on dunking him none to nicely.
“Calm down it was just a joke” Vincent got out between laughs
“Oh…I’ll show you a joke!” Damien said as he came closer to him.
Damien finally got close enough to dunk him but all that happened was him getting lifted out of the water and thrown over Vincent’s head. “Damn he’s strong, those muscle aren’t just for show…” Damien landed on the other side of Vincent, and their fight continued until Vincent had Damien’s arms pinned to his own chest and Damien’s back against his.
“Do you give up Damien?” Vincent said laughing a bit, having trouble getting the words out.
Damien mind froze in this position, it was pretty suggestive ‘If I give up will you, move your hands lower?’ Damien thought to himself.
“Damien? Are you alright?” Vincent asked him letting go of his friend.
“What…?” Damien asked.
“Are you alright? I didn’t hurt you, did I? I’m sorry.” Vincent was worried. “ I’m fine you just….uhhh… bent my shoulder at an odd angle.” was the only excuse he could come up with.
“Oh well as long as your ok then we should probably get going, school will be out in a couple minutes and I don’t want to be around when a certain someone decides to show her betraying head at the pool.” Vincent glared into the distance.
Damien looked at him with sympathy “She’s still bothering you?” he said as the got out of the pool followed by Vincent.
“Not as much as she use to…it still pisses me off though…”Vincent said looking at nothing in particular. They made it over to their beach chairs and started to put their shirts back on. Damien was sadden by the view he was losing but there would be other days to swim.
“Don’t let her get to you, you know there’s plenty of people out there you just haven’t met the right one yet.” Damien offered some bit of encouragement as Vincent looked over at him, gave him a dazzling smile “Thanks man I don’t know what I would do without you” he said as they got into Damien’s car, and headed back over to Vincent’s house.
******
Vincent decided to have Damien over to spend the night, a good old guys night, he needed one. His mother was working night shift and his brother had left for a party so tonight was a good night.
“So are you sure your brother isn’t going to be here?” Damien asked he didn’t like Vincent’s brother he was such an asshole and teased him constantly, about anything from his shirt, to his face, it was annoying.
“Yeah, he’s off getting drunk somewhere, so you wont see him tonight” Vincent smiled his brother would not leave Damien alone, not matter how many punches he received.
“Alright that’s good, so what are we going to do tonight” he asked a bit curious, it had been awhile since he had spent the night at someone’s house, and he had forgotten the protocol.
“Well I’ve got a little bit of liquor downstairs, we could drink a bit. I’ve also got an XBOX so we could play on that for awhile to.” Vincent said trying to give Damien an idea of what they would be doing.
“Alright, but I’m going to warn you, I’m a fighter when I’m drunk.” he smiled over at Vincent as they settled in his room.
“If you fight as well as you do in the pool, I think I might win.” Vincent smirked and pulled out some shot glasses.
*******
A few hours later they were failing at playing Halo and drinking a little. Damien had just died again “God Damn it! Why cant I win!!!!!” Vincent pushed him over a bit “You suck at video games man.”
“No I don’t, your just to good!” Damien pushed Vincent back, which started a little wrestling match, ending with Damien on top of Vincent.
“I win…”Damien said being the victor since he was on top. Vincent quickly flipped them over “No I win…” and he began to laugh.
‘He’s on top of me…this feels nice…’ Damien moaned a bit.
“Hey, are you alright?” Vincent asked in his drunken stupor getting closer to Damien’s face to make sure he was alright.
‘He’s getting closer what does he want? Is he saying something? His lips look nice, I wonder how they feel?’ as he thought this Vincent got closer.
“What are you looking at…?”Vincent said squinting his eyes.
Damien leaned up and kissed Vincent…
