Chapter Two.

A blank page, starch white and lying in wait for the tip of the pen to scratch away at its smooth surface. A tiny droplet of crimson red ink dropped onto the paper, a blotch spreading like a puddle of blood into a ragged circle. The quill was held poised by long elegant fingers, coiled like a snake about to strike at its prey. Drake sat at his Old English desk, a beautiful piece of furniture that he’d bought centuries ago, which was now considered an antique and worth quite a lot of money.

He’d been sat at that beautiful desk for a whole half hour, staring down at the open unlined notepad before him, thinking of many different ways he could write a simple but alluring letter to his little runaway love. Seventy-three years of nothingness, of feeble attempts to cope with the ache that loneliness brought to a person’s heart, of feeding off human boys that resembled his Stefan. Resemble yes, but not at all as beautiful. His sweet little Stefan was the most gorgeous creature he had even laid eyes on. How he had managed to spend all this time without him Drake did not know. Only sweet bloody dreams had given a slight nourishment and yet an exquisite torture to his lonely unconsciousness when he slept the day away. But awake, he wandered like a tortured soul through the streets, ripping into warm soft throats and fucking willing lithe bodies before gorging on their intoxicating blood.

He never had been one to stay with a coven, much preferring to travel and hunt alone. That had all changed the moment he met Stefan. No, he had still not made his own coven or been initiated into one, but he had someone by his side, a fresh young teenager with an angelic face and petite sexy body. Those big blue eyes haunted him even now. Lust turned to love, love turned to obsession, obsession turned to possession. Stefan had become afraid and yearned to be free from his invisible restraints. It was something Drake could not give his love, for he feared that he would lose him. When Stefan became miserable and silent, cold as a corpse, Drake decided to make a deal.

Every century, Stefan would be unleashed into the world, free of Drake’s clutching, death-bringing fingers, and be free until Drake could no longer bear the separation. At first, Drake only managed to last a few months before dragging his fledgling back home, and then he managed to last longer and longer. This time was the longest yet, and he didn’t think he could do it anymore. The loneliness was too much to bare.

As he sat gazing at the paper, he made a decision. A final and unchangeable decision. He would get Stefan to return to him, and he would never let him go. Whether happy or completely miserable, he would be firm and unwavering. Stefan would be his. No matter what it cost to make him so.

Lithium sat in the small café alone, sipping mindlessly at a cup of Earl Grey, large eyes scanning the other lingering customers avoiding the chilly evening air. He picked up the large blueberry muffin off a small cheap plate and nibbled on it, enjoying the taste a little, but doing it more out of habit than actually being hungry. He soon became bored of watching the humans sitting there drinking and quietly talking to their companions, the scenes as dull as the weather outside the large smudged windows. So he returned his gaze to the crumpled book in his hand, a borrowed book from Stefan to be exact, an original right back from the Victorian era. Stefan had bought it back when it was first published in 1897, the famous Dracula by Bram Stoker. Lithium was finding the gothic horror romance novel somewhat intriguing when the author wasn’t babbling on and on.

He froze in his chair when he felt the presence of another Vampire, one he did not know, nor care to know from the power that he felt. Lithium was a mere fledgling, only a few centuries old, an adolescent in vampire years. A shadow fell across his table, blocking the light that softly illuminated the pages of Bram Stoker’s writings. He slowly raised his light brown eyes to a handsome, sharp featured face. The man was tall, lean but slim, with perfect features and a dark smile spreading across that perfection. Dark brown hair to his shoulders, sharp clear green eyes. “May I sit with you young one?” the rich French-accented voice was music to Lithium’s ears. He sat stunned, staring up at the sexy man half excited and half scared. A minute ticked by, and then he managed to nod, gesturing at the chair opposite him. The man smiled that wicked smile again and sat down, crossing his legs and leaning back in the chair with an air of coolness, as if they were old friends meeting for a late coffee.

They sat in silence for a while, sizing each other up it seemed, before the man finally stuck out his hand and said, “Forgive me, my name is Didier. You are?” Being a vampire meant having no true identity, therefore no need for having a last name, especially among the Old Ones, so this did not strike as strange to the pale-haired boy across from the dazzling French man. He took the larger hand and gently shook it, becoming suddenly shy, something he’d never been in his life. “I’m Lithium” he introduced himself, a name he had picked up from Richie when he had been found half-naked, human and starving in the streets of London. Pale sweetness with a quick hot temper, Richie had described him. Since he could not remember his real name back then, Richie had named him Lithium and took him into his heart, stealing his innocence and naïve nature.

“Lithium…pretty name” Didier seemed to roll the name on his tongue for a long time, almost as if he could taste it, savouring it. Lithium’s shyness began to quickly dissipate, and he relaxed, leaning on the table and gazing with his inviting eyes at the gorgeous man before him. “Forgive me for intruding on your time and space, but I couldn’t help but notice you sitting in here, alone and looking so…tempting” Didier said quietly, also leaning across the table to be closer to the younger vampire. Lithium flashed him a small flirtatious smile, without revealing his sharpened teeth, and traced his fingertips lightly over Didier’s hand. “Well…what did you have planned once you had entranced me?” he asked in a whisper, excitement churning in his gut. Didier grinned and stood up, holding his hand out to be taken. Lithium glanced round at the almost-deserted café, unsure whether to display his sexuality in public. At night on the drunken streets with his coven was different, it wasn’t so naked. But he stood up and took the offered hand, feeling electric run up his arm slightly at the gentle touch.

Didier led him outside and down the streets, strolling as if in no hurry, whereas Lithium was desperate for what was to come. They finally reached an old run-down house that looked barely able to stand on its foundations. Lithium eyed it distastefully, glancing at his elegant companion as if trying to detect some sort of lie.

“I’m not staying in Birmingham long, I didn’t want a fancy hotel or house. Luxury isn’t everything” Didier said, catching the look Lithium gave him. He pushed open the unlocked door and let Lithium inside first, turning to shut the door and then leading the way upstairs to a small dusty room with a mattress in the middle of the floor, covered in rich red covers and pillows, the only luxurious things in the house. “Strip for me, slowly” Didier demanded softly, sitting down on the mattress and gazing up at him expectantly.

Lithium smiled seductively and stood in front of him, slowly sliding his baggy thin white long-sleeved shirt over his head, his smooth hairless stomach and chest being revealed inch by inch. He then unbuckled his studded belt, letting it drop to the floor with a clatter that echoed through the house. Next, he unzipped his low-riding skinny jeans, and very slowly slid them down his smooth pale thighs, until they crumpled around his ankles and he stepped out of them with little effort. He never usually wore underwear, and today was no different. Didier was blessed with the sight of his soon-to-be lover deliciously nude and all his for the taking. He ran his tongue across his lips absently as his eyes devoured the boy hungrily, and then he beckoned for Lithium to come to him.

Happy to oblige, the pale-haired vampire walked over to kneel down, straddling Didier’s lap and wrapping his arms around his neck. Didier ran his hands up and down Lithium’s soft-skinned back, tracing his spine lightly, before finally settling his hands on the younger vampire’s small firm bottom, squeezing the cheeks gently as he kissed Lithium’s neck and jaw, enjoying the sound of his breathy moans.

The pair then fell against the mattress, bodies moulding together in desperate embraces, bare flesh against soft rustling clothes. Didier pulled away from the sweetness of the boy’s mouth and undressed himself, pausing to let the vampire now beneath him to imprint the sight of his toned body into his senses. He then settled between the boy’s legs, spread wide in invitation, and rubbed his hot throbbing erection against Lithium’s, producing a long low moan from the lush parted lips of the beautiful young vampire. While his mouth was laid open, Didier took advantage and delved his tongue into the moist cavern beyond, pressing his tongue against the sharp little fangs so a trickle of blood mingled with their joined saliva and slid down Lithium’s throat.

As they continued to rock, grinding their hips and locking their limbs around one another, Lithium was dimly aware of rain beginning to patter against the window lightly, and then becoming faster like a theme for their lovemaking. As Didier slid his slick cock into Lithium’s awaiting body, the rain hit the dim glass harder, and it created a long-lasting music track for their writhing bodies to dance to amidst their passion, and as it slowed and became quieter, the couple glowed in the ecstasy of orgasms and blood-sharing, lulling into a deep sleep as the clouds cleared away behind the black veil of the night sky.
