Never Enough
AN: Again, rather short. But, they lend themselves to being short. And my lovely leading lady seems to be getting stronger and at the same time repeating the same mistakes over and over.
Never Enough
“Tell me, is it me or the distance from my doorstep to yours?”
“It's the distance.”
“I'm good aside from living too far away?”
“I don't do well with long distance relationships.”
“It's ninety miles. Hundred eighty round trip.”
“It's too far for me. Anything more than a half hour away is too far.”
“Okay...It was nice. While it lasted”
“I'm sorry.”
“Don't be. I'm not. Home someone closer comes to appreciate you like you deserve.” She said standing on her tiptoes to press a kiss to his lips. “Taa.”
“Bye.” He whispered as she turned and walked away She could have been the one, but the distance was too mcuh. He waved as her car roared to life and then sped away.
“Another one bites the dust...” She sang softly to herself, catching the highway and speeding off into the sunset, shifting gears like a pro. Another chance blown, but her hopes were still high. She was, after all, still breathing.
